I haven't played seriously for years, but when I did my online rating tended to be a couple hundred points higher than my real life rating.

Mine is well over my real life one for several reasons that lead to me being unable to attend many tournaments. I've also come to the conclusion that I may have to give up chess soon, leaving it as just like SC, something to play for nostalgia or when I'm bored more than anything else. 24 hours just isn't enough time in a day for me to fit everything I want to do into.

Blasphemy! Surely, you will have time to solve a few tactics puzzles a day and that'll at least keep you from rusting away into oblivion. ![]()

I'll probably retire for the most part after the Summer and I think I'll finish the few games I have left and then play 1-2 correspondence at a time max.

I used the iChess Free app for a while, which has 1000 puzzles spread over three difficulties (the beginner level being for real beginners, however), and any suggestion for a free app with many puzzles is more than welcome :-) Quoting myself since I did not receive any reply the first time... Anyone? ![]()

There is also Tactics Trainer and Perfect Chess Trainer. You can also just launch up chesstempo or ideachess in the chrome browser.
