It is just a pariah state. They have nuclear weapons and Seoul is 35 miles from artillery in the DMZ. They pose just the same threat as all the other so called 'rogue states' have in their respective regions. Also this: On October 05 2014 18:30 Mafe wrote: Human rights are not worth talking about? Last I heard there wasn't much evidence they had working ones.

Remember how much Sep 11th affected the US economy? Now imagine what happens on the way out, North Korea blasts Seoul and Tokyo.

Nice to hear something good happening overseas; besides ebola, middle east war and civil wars, global warming...

Ok lets invade NK and bring em 'life standard of live now like there is no tomorrow'. NK routinely attacks South Korea and constantly engages in hostile rhetoric against South Korea, Japan and the United States which would, if any other nation did it, start a war. The only reason North Korea is allowed to get away with literally shelling the civilian population of its neighbour is because it does so while holding a knife to the throat of the South Korean capital. Make no mistake, North Korea is every bit as bad as people say it is. It is only prevented from continuing the Korean War by the overwhelming strength of China and the United States, denying their warlike nature is like claiming gravity doesn't exist because a rock doesn't fall through the mountain beneath it.

Hell, if it wasn't for China's intervention in the first Korean War that is exactly what would have happened. Our world is run by cowards, to concerned with what someone else will do if they do something. No leaders have balls anymore. Well, no leaders except Putin and whoever is pulling the strings in NK. Well the US had a leader with balls. Didn't work out great for their citizens (unless they happened to be private security contractors).

The title has now changed. Is this because NK itself has changed? What recent events have made the thread title change its name? Or is it just that NK is no longer considered a threat or something? That doesn't seem to be the case, considering Kwark's last post?

They said they might suspend nuclear program, no nuclear tests, first time high official is travelling south, they want to have talks etc etc. Kim's month long absence. The rumours about factional intrigue. None of that is really pedestrian, but surprising and non-hostile.
