Like a worldwide beta test for Google's AI team. Or more likely an internal power struggle at Google as there are now four messaging apps Hangouts, Allo, Duo, and Messaging. What project manager okay'd this?

If the best days are truly past Google then it sucks as i have hundreds of movies and music bought through the play store. And I'll be damned if lose them all if I switch to Apple.

Or something. The really weird thing is, I don't think they want to. I don't think they want a single, unified app. No fucking idea why, but it really seems to be the case.

In one of his tweet replies, he told someone that "the home screen makes it easier to switch between apps rather than to do things within apps" or something to that degree. What in the world is this guy even talking about. This man would remove my headphone jack. But he wouldn't stop there. He'd get rid of my volume buttons too.

Teams are encouraged to compete against each other so that the best ideas get funding and backing (as with anything). It sounds fine and interesting until you realize that there's limited internal collaboration which means each team can only push their product so far. The reason Google has its tendrils in a million different ventures is because internal teams are trying to carve out niches for themselves and they're competing against other teams to do it. This makes sense, but it also calls into question: Why no SMS? Android users just want iMessage. Google is making a pretty awful ecosystem and I see no reason to stay within it.

Apple nailed iMessage about 5.5 years ago, honestly Google is pretty awful overall nowadays, they cant even update their own Nexus phones in time, seems like they are going backwards lately But dont worry because 7.1 will be even more colorful so who cares about other stuff

The slight delay in the nougat roll out is not really an issue for me. Honestly, I was fine with KitKat. Since then each version feels very similar.

Android N has been a trainwreck of a release, Nexus 6 owners (yes, the flagship from last year) have yet to recieve the update. Fast updates, my ass... Theres battery issues all over 6p and 5x owners. Release GOOD apps and kill them for no particular reason, my tracks and google reader, for example. Yet shit like allo gets greenlight and pushed lol. Material Design is beatiful, yet not even google knows how to use it. Pixel launcher looks incredinly meh and not "simple" at all. A shit ton of stuff is super hidden, like google now on tap or wakelocks.
