all of you people who "dont give a shit lolz wear it with whatever because fashion is shallow blablabla" just because you don't care doesn't mean other people don't care. some people have an intrinsic talent for telling what makes them look like a tool and what doesn't, others have to ask so exalted did a perfectly reasonable thing, which is to come to a web forum frequented by a bunch of young men and ask them: yo, what would you do with this watch? While it might not be main-stream among men to care about the way they look, since when is it a sin to want to be well-dressed? I for one find no fault with it. I think it is normal and healty to take care of and place importance on your physical appearance. While most of you say "looks don't matter, girls like you for who you are etc." that's only after they get to know you. A large part of what makes people want to meet you in the first place is physical appearance. Nobody likes an ugly. Why do you think fat kids have no friends?

Drone, you seriously don't like Lacoste? I think Lacoste polos are almost cliche now in the US college demographic but I wouldn't go so far to say that they are _ugly_. Definitely better than Abercrombie and Fitch and American Eagle for starters. The popped collar pink polo shit I"ll try to stay away from though -.-

i'd put columbia above brown and dartmouth, at least in difficulty of admittance, if not awesomeness of location... live in nyc and you can't live anywhere else edit: if you're asian i wouldn't buy a&f

if you have to try this hard to blend in, you aren't going to blend in. find somewhere where you do instead of asking strategy tips on how to appear like something you aren't. i wouldn't say he's trying hard to blend in, or be something he isn't, he's just trying to pay attention to detail. no harm in that. the implied fact that he would be willing to get a pair of shoes to match the watch indicates that he is the type of person who would wear a lacoste watch. he just wants to know if his shoes should match or not (i found it hard not to laugh at that last sentence) while certainly a bit strange, it's by no means abnormal, and definitely not something you would want to ask your real life friends (they will all probably just laugh), so hell, this is probably the best place to go with these types of questions (fashion forums aside) since where else is he going to find a bunch of guys, of his age group, with different opinions to consult

2. asking fashion advice on tl.net is a goofy concept to begin with 3. worrying about watches matching shoes aligns you with Vin Diesel 4. having multiple personalities on a forum is.. well pathetic in a glad someone is doing it though kinda way.

we don't have either brand here though, and I can't say I mind. (although this also means that I really haven't seen THAT MUCH A&f/american eagle, but I haven't seen anything I thought looked nice. ) lacoste is about the LEAST brand I'd consider buying in norway though. I can get equally good looking clothing for less than 1/3 of the price, or I can buy much better and more durable and more comfortable clothing through paying the same. and my best piece of advice regarding clothing is to buy by far most inexpensive clothing that you try to match as nicely as possible, ask whoever is working in the store you're visiting for advice on buying an outfit as opposed to a piece of clothing if you're unable to match yourself. and then if you DO feel comfortable matching yourself, you can top it off through buying a small amount of expensive clothes that add flavour and uniqueness. personally I think lots of clothes in "mainstream" stores like H&M looks nice but I generally avoid shopping there because I don't want to run into others wearing the same as me. that's generally avoided if you have "some" clothes that aren't completely standard. there's very little point in all your clothes being brandnames tho, and the same effect will be accomplished through say, buying second-hand if you can't afford spending tons.

THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT FASHION Why do they suck? I really like the location seeing how that it's a good distance from my family and not a 6 hour drive when I want to go home for holidays and things. They aren't top top tier schools, but they also are ivys so they at have some reputation. I can't be definitive on how I feel about the campuses since I'm in Taiwan now, but I figure I can look into the schools I get admitted to in more detail. Unfortunately, I called the Yale and Princeton admission offices and they are very harsh on my situation, which is that I am a transfer student. This is a brief email I sent to admission offices that describes what I"m talking about: -- I am a prospective applicant to Brown seeking advice on the method with which I should apply for admission. My story is unique - I graduated from Ward Melville High School (a public HS) in 2003 at the age of fourteen, with a B+ GPA and 1370 SAT (will be retaking the new SAT this October). However, most of my time was spent playing piano, where I was able to play in Carnegie Hall several times and have placed first in several international competitions throughout the US. My plan was to attend the Curtis Institute of Music, but started to grow diverse interests. I love music, but I want the opportunity to study at a world-class institution such as yours, with a major in Business and possibly a music minor. Currently, I am 17 and a sophomore at Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. My major is Management Science, which involves broad courses as C++ Programming to Statistics and Leadership English. I am Chinese, but never learned Mandarin, therefore being immersed in the language and culture is certainly a broadening and life-altering experience. My desire is to take these experiences and continue study in Brown, where I will be the same age as the incoming class. Brown is my choice school. As I am a US citizen, would you suggest applying as a transfer student or as an undergraduate freshman? I want to maximize my ability of becoming an admitted applicant – any suggestions and advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. -- Obviously switching school names for each. I didn't get any replies from the major schools, so I used skype to call their offices - Emory and Brown were more understanding of my situation, but for example Princeton was like, errr, you have college credits = you are college student, you are thereby banned from applying. Yale was never high on my list anyway and so when they told me if I did apply I would have to be in the transfer pool (and hence hyper selective), I just took it off my prospective list. Harvard gave me a similar response, but since it is my choice school I figure I'll give that a shot. Since I'm already derailing this thread hard, this is a brief accomplishment list, thoughts? -- International College Student at 15 • Studied Freshman and Sophomore Year in National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan o Full time international student o Experienced learning Chinese for the first time through total immersion Lived with Taiwan students and experienced culture Involved in Mandarin-taught classes o Top 3 GPA in Management Science class for two consecutive semesters o Involved in Graduate Level Courses in Varying Fields: Oral Communication International Management and Business Administration (IMBA) Courses • Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Chamber Music o Member of NCTU Badminton Team Currently teaching in Management Science Badminton Club o Successfully overcame language barrier, being independent from family and academic/social challenges High School Experience • Graduated from Ward Melville High School, Upton, NY at 14 • 1370 / 1600 SAT score at the age of 13 • 2220 / 2400 SAT score on October 05 SAT I • After high school was originally planning for further music study at the Curtis Institute of Music (piano performance CD enclosed in application package) Piano Performance and Studies • 10 Years of Study • Scholarships at Prestigious Universities and Camps o Manhattan School of Music o Luzerne Music Camp o Chopin Society of Texas Summer Program • Lessons with Eleanor Sokoloff, Curtis Institute of Music • Performances in Carnegie Hall – Winners Recital of xxx • International Piano Competition Winner (xxxx) -- Length T_T
