Did you notice how MOM, questioning Bill, the former police chief, was careful to specify that the area of questioning was limited only to the process as it happened after the decision was made to play the tapes for the Martins? He was pretty specific in his wording and seemed to painstakingly avoid any mention of politics or undue pressure to prosecute.

Diving into political motivations for the prosecution is completely irrelevant and should be excluded. At best, all that the defense can do is get some facts admitted here and there for other purposes that also tend to show that this is a politically motivated prosecution.

MOM just said in an interview with Piers Morgan that he's bringing in Trayvon's cell phone stuff. He had previously said he was hoping to not have to use that stuff, but there wasn't any uncertainty in his statement tonight. He must be confident in its admissibility, although judging by that case that let the toxicology in, it seems it might be admissible as well. According to the case, in self-defense cases, nearly everything about the "victim" is admissible, apparently. Looking forward to the cell phone stuff.

Interesting Piers Morgan had three experts on. All three were edging towards acquittal "by the law".

Of course he knows better than I do, but I think he's overly optimistic. The judge seemed to barely allow him admission of the tox report and his expert witness to testify as to the effects of that (seemingly miniscule) level of THC in Trayvon's blood. It's a big jump from there to allowing the photos and text messages alleged to have been on the phone (Trayvon with guns, Trayvon calling himself a "gangsta", Trayvon discussing his truancy...[CNN]).
They might have a better chance of getting Trayvon's fighting history in, now that the prosecution has gone into Zimmerman's adventures at the MMA gym.

Edit: lol, that guy's a trooper! XD

I have learned so much about law reading this thread >.<
If what the prosecutor has to do is disprove self defence...well... I am not a betting man but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

wow that's an interesting development if what this witness said is true. It can prove Zimmerman's case well. I never realized that you can tell that from a gun wound :O

this is huge for the defense. almost proves that Martin was on top at the time of the shooting.

Just turned it on 3 seconds ago. he testified that the gun wound spread and density shows that Trayvon was alive when shot(it's red) and the spread and density indicated that the muzzle of the gun was on the shirt and not directly on the skin. That kinda indicates that Trayvon is on top since his shirt would be on his skin if he was on the bottom. He also said that the gun would be around 4-6 inches or so away from the skin on the shirt and that he tested up to 18 inches for accuracy purposes.

Didn't we already know this via the coroners report ages ago? This is further proof that Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman when he shot him. If what you say is true, the defense would not feel the need to hammer this point away to prove that Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman so I can't say if it was already known ages ago.
