I was at the bus station today and when a guy walking by, he told me that my bag was open. Now, of course I knew of it to be open since I had my large music folder in it; however, just from five seconds of his time there, it has really made me feel happy. Happy that there are these kinds of people in this world. That we are not only represented by the corrupt and the socially inept; but, with people who look out for others and give out in return. Why do I speak so depressively? Well I'm just expressing my beliefs and opinions.
Sometimes I consider myself to be a quiet, gentil, and somewhat naieve person. I would sacrifice things for others (e.g. I'd take up my time helping a friend to study and ending up with no study time on my own); but I learn not to regret it, I continue on. Why would people view the person who swears a lot and talks out of turn, in a higher scale level than I, a person who is caring and truthful? Are they just so much "cooler" cause they know how to abuse the rules of our society's norms and exuberate their pride so that it stands out from others?
People who give you salutations, people who help you with the slightest things, that counts too. However, with the rules of black and white, I am also exposed to those who are arrogant, selfish, and not only truthful to others, but most importantly, not truthful to themselves. Will they end up being the "divine" person that they are five year from now? How about ten? Probably not right?
On the contrary, there are those who assume--people who base their thought upon assumptions that whatever could inspire their train of thought. Do people just have certain expectations of you and judge you upon your performances? Do we all live in a world of dishonest beliefs and corrupt facts? Why should we be viewed as a certain individual when we are all unique of who we are and what we do. We are all entitled to our own beliefs and actions, of course, lawful and intelligent actions. Never assume.
However, I am convinced that the kind soul is much more prominent than its contrast rival. Sometimes I would even doubt my own actions. Being a forum lurker, I usually don't contribute as much as I take. Have I thanked all of the people who took their time to write reports for us? Upload replays? Organize tournaments? Moreover, create a whole PGT for us fellow StarCraft players, while giving up so much to see the happiness of others? What have we done other than write a few words of contentment of gratitute towards the founder of PGT - Pat? This entry I guess could be noted as a contribution, but I view it more as a fact that I want to discuss--are the kind really outruled by the arrogant and the insensitive?
Am I really too nice for my own good? I wonder if I should change, but people say, "Be yourself.."?

Being nice is good. But don't over do it to the point where you are harming yourself a certain amount.
|
hmm i question that myself.. i see that people who mess around get more attention but when you try it yourself u look like a fag and a biter

In this world, the nice wont survive. :D

aka "nice guys finish last"

There are too many people in this world, you have to stand out from the rest to get recognized, people don't "value" the arrogant kids more, its just that they notice them in the first place.
By being quiet, gentil, and somewhat naieve (quiet, gentle and somewhat naive), you're being a "good" person in general, but nothing very special or worthy of recognition either.
People like Pat who host PGT don't do it simply becuase they're a "kind" soul - its becuase its an achievement that they can say that did, and most importantly, becuase they are proactive - they create goals and they ACCOMPLISH them. That is what sets them from the other "kind souls". He's helping other starcraft gamers enjoy themselves and get recognized. You may be kind, but only the best players get to the #1 spot.
Becuase lets face it - if you aren't giving anything back to the community, you are just wasting other people's resources - I don't have the statistics off hand but the amount of waste created by just one human being in the US is disgusting with regards to intake of food, garbage, pollution, energy use, water use, etc.
Don't feel emo about having "less kind" souls getting recognized. Figure out what you're good at, and if it's nothing, you have your work cut out for you - figure out a way you can give back to the community, and do it.

I just reread your post, you aren't fucking "kind", get over yourself. You haven't helped anyone in a serious manner, telling someone "their bag is open", or "thank you for that contribution" is something practically expected.
You're just feeling angsty that you aren't getting a lot of attention becuase you think you're a "good boy", and call yourself "too nice" becuase you don't realize that you actually haven't done anything worth being commended for.

Ah, just the other day someone told me my bag was open too. Now, this did not spurn on a string of though about kindness, society, and so on, but I was glad that someone would tell me. Then i figured out that roughly 20 people were in a reasonable position to tell me before that one did. :p
Why would people view the person who swears a lot and talks out of turn, in a higher scale level than I, a person who is caring and truthful? Are they just so much \"cooler\" cause they know how to abuse the rules of our society\'s norms and exuberate their pride so that it stands out from others? Keep asking questions like this. Realise the type of people who would view those others \"in a higher scale\" then you. I\'m often told that i dont have many friends, whats the matter, and so I. I usually respond that most likely their friends would not be my friends, so these people they call friends would mean nothing to me as far as friends go, thus their friends(as friends) are of no consequence to me.
You start to rant a bit and i lose you soemwhat.
are the kind really outruled by the arrogant and the insensitive? Who is in a good position to answer this questions. Ive met what % of people. People change constantly. Don\'t kidness, arogance, etc have diffrent degrees. Be careful when asking questions like this.
Am I really too nice for my own good? I wonder if I should change, but people say, \"Be yourself..\"? Change to what? Less kindness, more arrogance, etc for your own good? what is your good anyway. Why would you want to change? Ah, also, when people say such things as \"get a life\" or \"be yourself,\" make sure to respond with somethign like \"what, am i dead?\" or \"who else woud l i be, Michael Jackson?\"

Glad to see you exalted, i would respond, but im sure where that would lead.
edit: i was not posting direct links, it was going though another channel, dunno if that would have anythign to do with it though. Im pretty sure the stuff is safe. Now they are direct links.

By the way you come off as a real arrogant prick on these forums, your name says it all.

People who look good think everyone is happy and helpful. People who are ugly think everyone is mean and selfish.

the way you judge people... makes we wonder how much of a good guy you really are.
i swear a lot and talk out of turn.

that's a funny way of coming to conclusions about people. if someone isn't outwardly kind or generous, they are presumptuous and uppity? not exactly what you meant i'm sure, but the impression i'm getting (and i think anyone who reads what you wrote is getting) is that you're being quite uppity and arrogant yourself. sorry.

They learn to act like they care and:Welcome to politics

I think it has to do with social status, not looks. Looks do have have a large effect on social status so I believe your statement is also true to some extent. It balances out a bit when people get to their 20's and 30's and get a clue though.
I remember a girl in HS who was so immensely beautiful and nice and everything, it really seemed like she was living in a world where everyone was feeling great all the time. That made her even more attractive, heh. But that's quite rare imho.

i think that its kool some 1 helps still and some 1 thanks those for helping it is kinda rare if you are not in a feild where you get some kind of compensation for helping others there is all so a diffrence between helping some young hot girl load her junk in to her SUV then helping a old lady load her crosseries in to the back of her car
|
One day I went to a grocery store and parked my car in the parking lot. An old lady praked her car in front of me and didn't turn off the front light.
Bard - Excuse me? I think you forgot to turn off the light. Old Lady - It will turn off automatically. Thanks though.
Bard - Oh.. nice car..

Most people believe themselves good, it is like that protestant idea "justification by faith alone." Faith seems to be pretty lazy these days.
Actively helping others is the best thing you can do, not only because you are doing good works, but your actions will rub off on others.
