As for cuff links and pocket squares, I can remember seeing them on some of Barney's suits. I was never aware of this thread. Really good advice, though the philosophy behind isn't really my cup of tea.

Where I live now these are considered ultra-super girly. I'm an eighteen year old guy, 6'5 and I work out frequently. Do you guys have any idea what kinds of flip-flops are acceptable? Completely lost here, the girls I know are of little help.

I'm not really into dressing well, more into not dressing awful. I live in the Netherlands, so convenient options would be preferred, although just options are useful aswell.

![]() They feel abysmal on my feet at least. I only ever wear them on the beach and then only if it's so god damn hot you can't really walk without them.

They are kind of like pinstripes, you need a level of prestige to properly pull of a 3 piece suit Yeah this is basically what I was thinking... Too bad though, I really want to wear that vest! Also, I have another question for you fashion gurus here: What about hair style? To recap real quick, I'm going to an event that is honoring a retired US Secretary of Defense and there will be a lot of business/important type people there and I need to make a good impression for my club. It seems like I'm already sold on the no-vest suit, but this morning I just wondered about my hair. Do you guys like the old fashion "swoosh" I guess it is? Where ~3/4 of your hair is combed to one side, and ~1/4 is combed the other way, creating a nice crease on your head. Or do you think just leaving it how it normally is would work? I have pretty wavy hair, not curly, but wavy, so it draws your eyes up if I don't do anything with it, but I don't know, maybe I've been watching too much Mad Men, but I love the 3/4 1/4 comb thing... It's a very popular style that I don't know the name of if you can't tell what I'm talking about. Thanks a lot!

What I would suggest, is to find a good hairdresser you can build a relationship and trust with. It may cost you a bit more to go to a real salon and find a true professional, but hair is 1 thing I dont mess with. If they mess up, youre screwed. There is nothing worse than a bad haircut. I found a hairstylist I like, it costs me $35 a cut, but its well worth it knowing I am in good hands. What I would do at this point, is find some hairstyles you like, get a bunch of pictures, and go to your hairdresser, and see what they think will work, and let them change it up a bit so that it suits you. The results from this process have been extremely good in my experiences. Dont leave your hair up to chance. It doesnt matter how well you are dressed if you have a doofus haircut.

I've always been very picky with my hair, and keeping it at a medium/long length requires maintenance if you want to look professional. Finding a stylist you trust is really key in that respect as they can tell you upfront if something won't work. It has taken me a while to find a person I trust with my cuts, and she has probably saved me from multiple poor decisions.

BB is having a 15% off sale store-wide today, so these come to like $200. $200 for a $500 classic? this is the best deal on a nice, brand new shoe from a retailer I've seen in a loooooooong time. buy it in black and you are set for the occasional formal event for the next 20 years but note, from Focuspants who did his research: On April 01 2012 14:10 Focuspants wrote: Just a note on the BB shoes. Apparently they are made by Loake, more specifically they are the Loake 1880's. They are not made by C&J like some of BB other upper end shoes. Loake is probably a rung below AE, and sell for around $225 regularly. So $200 would definitely be getting your moneysworth, but those shoes are certainly not worth the ~$500 pricetag they have on them at retail. Again, they are good shoes, but they arent AS good of a deal as they seem. Still a worthwhile pickup if youre in the market, so long as youre not looking for very premium shoes.
