Gonna look into setting up an RSS feed tonight, that's a great idea actually, thanks andy But to be honest I've kinda given up on the merino. Currently looking at t this coat by A Kind of Guise. Completely different aesthetic of course but I love the simplicity of it. AKOG is probably my favourite brand now.

Seems like most of the stuff out there has a ton of flashy stuff like the straps or texture on the fabric or those horizontal pockets.

Styleforum's doing a double rider sf x vanson x thurston bros collab which pics of the prototype should be up any day now. The fit according to thurston bros should be the same as the Junya x Vanson's, like this + Show Spoiler + ![]() Differences are it will have waist adjusters instead of a belt, so no belt loops, and no coin pocket. Schott 626 can be had at $600 easily and is their slimmest model. Downside is it's a little longer than most people like and all of their jackets (save some collabs with Supreme and other brands) come in the traditional perfecto style - so half-belts and epaulets. That's what I was looking for in a double rider but not everyone is. Pic of mine + Show Spoiler + ![]() I've also heard really good things about Johnson Leathers, apparently their website does a terrible job of showcasing what they can do (this is true for nearly all the 'traditional' leather jacket companies imo). Made to measure Lewis Lightning's also around around the $1200 range iircif that style appeals to you (I think it's pretty cool myself) + Show Spoiler + ![]() All of these come in heavier cowhide leathers than the lambskin used on a lot of fashion jackets, and admittedly I'm a little more biased toward them because part of what appealed to me when looking into leather jackets was something I could really live in and other than conditioning and cleaning once every couple of years sort of took care of itself. Hopefully if you're more interested in lambskin jackets there are people who can help you. Off the top of my head the BLK DNM 5 is around $800 and I've heard good things about them, the styling on the back isn't my preference but that's not a big deal. edit: doh, missed your post on the last page saying you wanted an MDR substitute. The Vanson x Styleforum double rider is probably your best bet then.

I actually have no idea how rss feeds work and I get the feeling that if I spent 10 minutes looking at how to set one up properly it would probably save me countless hours in the future but I'm too lazy .. anyhow you could try the algae coat from this season if that's the style you're looking for. Seems like most of the stuff out there has a ton of flashy stuff like the straps or texture on the fabric or those horizontal pockets. I'm also not a fan of all the straps and belts and billions of zippers so I know where you're coming from. I not that I mind them too much but I prefer my leather to be more understated. really the best match for what you're looking for are stooges. minimalist, excellent leather (comes in washed lamb, oiled calf, and one other variety that's slipping my mind). it's completely out of your price range at retail at 1500+. There are several used ones on y!jp I've kept eyes on for ~800 if you're fine with used clothing + Show Spoiler [examples] + ![]() ![]() try a used ma_julius leather maybe? not calf though and the style may not be to your liking because it emphasizes fluidity over rigidity. + Show Spoiler + ![]() their mainline makes some great leather as well but they're mostly fencing jackets and single riders Kazuyuki Kumagai Attachment also makes a fantastic (extremely) minimalist double rider, but it's also very out of your price range and even then if you want to save 50% off, you'd have to import from japan + Show Spoiler + ![]() I quite like how they styled this despite it being super whack: ![]() if you don't want stuff that's used, then I recommend going for the vanson mentioned in HeavenResign's post, that's probably your best bet. btw i love this coat + Show Spoiler + ![]()

The algae coat doesn't have a hood and seems really long. This sounds stupid but I prefer a hood since it snows a lot here and I don't wear hats. Detachable preferably but I know that's rare. Also the rucksack arrived and I realized it would look awesome if only the top didn't stick out, it's pretty prominent. ![]()

The design/cut of the stooges is amazing but if you're looking into RO you should really get comfortable with the kinds of leathers the jackets use and which season you're looking for. I would not just recommend someone get just any stooges without knowing what they're getting into. Check the RO thread on styleforum if you really wanna jump in head first. A few of the guys there have RO jackets, and quite a few of them picked up the heavy calf from the upcoming season

Kazuyuki Kumagai Attachment that's understandable, everyone has their little quirks in preferences. might want to look into a bless hoodcoat? I have one but it's not very substantial. excellent silhouette tho On August 02 2014 03:46 HeavenResign wrote: Isn't the stooges notorious for having inconsistent leather quality? Apparently by far the best ones are the '09 oiled calf and the upcoming F/W heavy calf The design/cut of the stooges is amazing but if you're looking into RO you should really get comfortable with the kinds of leathers the jackets use and which season you're looking for. I would not just recommend someone get just any stooges without knowing what they're getting into. yea, the the ones from fw12 MOUNTAIN and fw13 were pretty mediocre. i think gleam was pretty meh as well. I heard good things about this season, 09, and fw11 though. I think the difficulty of the aesthetic that stooges (and most rick stuff, to an extent) is pretty exaggerated. if you're wearing one piece and not an entire ensemble from his label, you can easily incorporate it into a somewhat more 'normal' wardrobe. The only difficulty I foresee that sets stooges apart from other leather is the length of the sleeves, which can be altered if it's completely unbearable. the tight(er) fit is also emulated by a bunch of other fashion houses (burberry, slp, etc) so I don't think that's something that's too large of an issue either. for fit reference ideas you can look at sf's thread I personally think some of these guys sized wrong but it's simply to give you an idea if what you're getting into: this page and a couple more in the next

The first one left a little to be desired but it seems he likes it.

And any other suggestions, preferably easier to find? Thanks. not very warm, don't think it's meant for below 40 degree F weather lol and yea it was ridiculously hard to find, took me a solid 2 months of running the search on multiple websites to get it in the right colorway size and material. especially because bless is kind of small. i have no idea what the actual model number is for the attachment coat. I'm not even sure if it's a dual layer coat but I can probably find out later after i get off from work. i fucking lied it took me 2 seconds of clicking http://attachment-ec.com/products/list.php?category_id=56

I like the algae coat but it's pushing the limit of how much I'm willing to pay and I don't love it enough to warrant spending that.
