It's like with this NG picture of the year with starving child in Africa and a vulture standing by, waiting for it to die. At least the reporter who took that photo had enough decency left in him to realise what horrible being he is and commited suicide. Also, the thread title is a bit misleading. It's not like scalping is very life-threatening. There are no major or vital parts there really so "surviving" it isn't such a tremendeous feat either (don't get me wrong, surviving a jaguar attack IS quite a feat and that's what the man should get credit for, people pay too much attention to his scalp).

What's more helpful for a single person to do, take a picture and bring awareness to something which lead to major change, or try to make a single physical difference? You think a reporter taking pictures of famine in Africa should try to save every dying child he sees? The world doesn't work like that. By your logic you should either do something about every horrible thing in the world or kill yourself. As for the guy taking the jaguar piicture, unless the person being attacked is his family or close friend I don't blame him at all for not putting his own life in danger. There is nothing wrong with putting your own life before that of a stranger. That's not even taking in to consideration how quickly an attack like that happens. It's not like he's takign a picture of an old lady getting mugged by a teenager. It's a fucking pissed off jaguar. lol

Irc the reason for that was, everyone who traveled there got told not to touch anyone for fear of disease.

If they mean survived an attack by an agitated leopard then yes he was lucky. But there was no way his wounds would/could have been fatal save infection.

I'm pretty sure that not talking shit about stuff you know nothing about or don't understand is also a rule. OT: I'm not sure whether or not his skull remained intact, from the looks of it, it did, so it's not TOO serious of an injury, he definitely has a very good chance of full recovery with the right medical attention.

Relevent Material. + Show Spoiler + I also enjoy the reverence that is bestowed upon these cats, many of the rangers that are charged with the care of their territory take great pains not to kill them even if it puts themselves at dire risk. There was a picture of a ranger standing on top of his vehicle pointing his shotgun at a cat that was coming at him, and there was a guy running away, and several guys laying on the ground. you can see the jag there it already had an injury :S, poor animals... sometimes really want some epidemic thing to happen so human population diminishes. tbh that jag was ac short range imo.
