I admit back when i was like 9 i was one of the first runescapers to use a bot hack for mining and shit. But in any competitive game? no. Not that i never would've, most likely, just that i never cared enough to get access. This being said, i did my fair share of rocket modded Americas Army servers back in 1.0 where 1 person was randomly selected to fire rockets from his gun.

and i use cheats religiously in offline games once i've beaten the game without cheats. Generally this is a for fun thing, like in Saints Row 3 where i always turned on immortal and big explosion and limitless clip and went around using every explosive weapon i could find.

Drama, that's the one. For whatever reason I can never recall the name of that guild. I think it's reasonable Kor'gath was stacked by any standards, at least until the end of classic.

Back when steam was strictly Valve games, HL2 was just released, and some foum got a hold of a list of over 100 Valve PC Cafe accounts containing every steam game. I used to own a rather active CS 1.6 server and one of the members on there was an older guy, around 50, he was sicilian and our resident ban happy admin on the server, he was full of rage all the time, he was one of those guys that didnt care if it was skill or hacks, if you were destroying people on the server, and he didnt feel you were on the same level as every1 else, you'd be banned.

Well I gave one of these accounts server immunity and downloaded the most obscene CS 1.6 hacks I could find, speed, teleport, instant kills with knife headshots, the map was fy_ceworld, I proceded to turn on FF and instantly killed all 24 people on the server repeatedly and instantly, with teleport headshot knife combos. This lasted about 8 minutes, the 50 year old sicilian guy was trying everything to ban me to no avail. If i could only explain the rage that came out of this guy... Eventually i got a phonecall from another admin trying to figure out what was going on after he got a rather nasty phonecall from the guy in the server. I've never had so much fun in my life... Eventually I fessed up to him through voice chat, I was laughing my balls off at his reactions, he however, was not so amused.

TLDR: If your going to hack, do it right, dont be a pussy and try to hide behind it and pretend its skill.

I used a maphack once in BW during a Fastest Map Possible when I was in middle school. I lost. I was really bad at Brood War. I never hacked again.

I never use hacks and I despise everyone who is pathetic enough to hack. Regardless of the reason, hacks are for people who are attempting to gain an unfair advantage and should never be used. All hackers should be banned. I have been hacked during several Xbox games and people who hack are sniveling individuals who cannot win games with the aid of their hacks and many of them are so bad that they still lose with their hacks. Glitches and bugs are not hacking, but exploiting falls under the same category. I remember all the scrubs in Halo: Reach that had the huge ranks. You may think they are good, check their profile and you will see that they just boosted their rank with the Target Locator exploit and once you see them play, they are a joke. I recall the thousands of hackers on MW2 and how they were destroyed, listening to them rage about how there is no way they can lose... They think they have hacks and that will bridge the skill level? They have map hacks and they think they can win just because they can see?

Hackers are a sad bunch that will never have true gaming skill. If you have to rely on anything other than you own skill, you will never be anything other than a scrub.

Oddly enough I've never hacked on Diablo 2 despite being a relatively hardcore player back in the day.
I've tried an aimbot/wallhack briefly on non-vac servers in CS.
I've made hacks for a 2D shooter that was somewhat popular.

Yep. Back in the good ol' Maple story days

Basically speed leveled by using a "hit all the monsters" with the same attack hack combined with invincibility and auto clicker for mana pots+ item pickup. It functioned autonomously and i just left my comp on overnight and it worked perfectly. It was actually some pretty intense stuff and man where my friends pissed when i was level 70+ in like 5 days.

Ethically, I think that if it's a MMO or any other game that isn't competitive, there's no real harm in doing it.[You will most likely get banned anyways] But if it is in a competitive game it's un-tolerable and should be looked down upon, and no excuses whatsoever, it hurts the overall quality and experience for everyone.

dabbled in some wallhacking back in the first days of CS, way before steam was even a platform for valve games let alone a full on game distribution network.

For true multiplayer games and experience, nope I have never hacked. I don't like the risk of losing everything I've worked for a small gain.

I've only hacked Diablo 2 Singleplayer to test out builds and equipment on LAN against another character. I did this, because I don't want to level another character online and mess up the skill trees. Been like 6 years since I played Diablo 2 though since I moved on to World of Warcraft. I wanted to hack on Tibia though, because that MMORPG is freakin hard if you don't know anyone well enough.

I used to spoof in Warcraft 3 so I can get my name in cool colorz...I wanna say I maphacked once in Brood War but just for fastest lol, not anything competitive.

Best part about it was I was so bad at the time that I still lost haha.

Never used one in a mulitplayer game. But will be forced to do so in future because the mulitplayer only option of many new game (e.g. diablo 3) you have to use banable hacks if you want to cheat for sp.

Never used hacks or cheats to gain an advantage over a human opponent in a game, it's pathetic at best. Hilarious to do the Tank Code 30 times in GTA 3 though, those were the days.

Obligatory mention of maphacking in d2.

Other than that, I did my fair share of exploiting things in WoW, some of it had an impact on others' gameplay, most of it didn't(like Jibba's example). The worst thing I've done would probably be abusing the Warlock imp exploit on AV; I rationalized that our faction literally won 100% of the games on our server and it just made the wins faster. Had to get that exalted rep, ye.

Does "screen hacking" on the same TV screen on FPS console games count? If they do, everyone has inadvertently hacked at least once. I have cheated in single player on several games, but never online or in multiplayer games. And have used glitches and bugs in various games (mostly Pokemon Red).

Yes, but there was no "To counter the opposing hacker" option. I had stacking hack for Brood War when I played others who used it. Otherwise I didn't enable hacks. Just hated seeing building stacking so I got my own to counter them and even the odds. (Damn me for not playing Terran and having tanks...)
