Usually metalheads are very picky, especially ones who's into techdeath, listening almost exclusively to that.. That's just not me ![]() Any of you guys know SikTh? "Prog-metal/metalcore/mathcore, yet their sound is (sometimes) pretty soft (and filled with hooks)" ..So sad they disbanded.. One of their heavier songs I recommend: Sikth - Sanguine Seas Of Bigotry (the audioquality is pretty bad on that one, sorry) Sikth - Part of the Friction (On a softer note, a little on the emo side tho (plz dont kill me)): Heck, their whole album Death of a Dead Day is worth a listen if you're not techdeath'er exclusively..

This video is pretty bad quality but you can just see how good they are. This one, nothing to see but you can hear their music quite well. Let me know what you think!

It's complex, violent and yet very melodic at the same time, everything I like in music. Death is probably THE band to listen to (their last 4 albums although I would recommend Sound of Perseverance for people not familiar with the style). My modest contribution from France : Gorod. This band is simply amazing. They're just crazy good with their instruments but always use their technique to produce amazing melodies. One of my favourite song from them : A quick instrumental version of the song to showcase their level : http://www.myspace.com/video/vid/60937871 Also, I really need to get my hand on Animal As Leaders, I've heard really good reviews of their last album. A shame I cannot find it on Spotify ![]()

Djent isn't even a genre. It's pretty much really technical progressive metal. Mathcore is pretty dumb as well. The only decent thing I see from the whole scene is Calculating Infinity. Tech death is in my opinion the most boring and generic death metal out there. Almost every band has terrible song writing abilities. Just over the top wank every song. If you want some good tech death albums check out Spawn of Possession Cabinet and Noctambulent.

Step 2: Go to the SC forums and tell everyone how bad SC is.. Step 3: Go to Facebook and post how bad FB is.... Seriously, if you dont like the genre, dont call it dumb and boring. The only thing you achieve is that you derail the thread into a useless discussion about taste and different (sub)genres

Chuck Schuldiner was one of the greatest song writers of any genre of music ever. Necrophagist get a lot of shit for being that typical tech death band that sacrifices song writing for flash but I don't think thats really the case. Origin slay

Scream bloody gore, human and Leprosy are pretty damn good but after that I don't care for them as much as most people do. In my opinion, Necrophagist is one of the main offenders of the whole tech wank thing. I used to be a fan of them but the more I explored death metal the more I realized it was pretty mediocre. Origin has one decent album. The rest are pretty generic. Like I said there is already a death metal thread, if you like DM you should check it out there is some good stuff posted there.

As someone who is deeply invovled in the djent community, I would like to think that the majority of informed fans do not think it is a genre, technical progressive is pretty much it. I also second the Spawn of Possession rec. Some essential, well-written tech: And some completely OTT, ridiculous wank, which there is a place for in my heart

Fact is that many metal fans really are just into one subgenre and lose interest in a thread when there is much discussion about a subgenre they dont care for. Therefor, it is (imo) ok that there are more threads for the different genres. Most of your post sounded (to me at least) like you were just telling fans of tech death that it is dumb and boring ![]()
