I would not say it's "complete trash", but definitely not worth the money. ;O)

As we had some Caol Ila talk - I would like some more feedback on the unpeated one in comparison to the peated one. Is it worth having both to experiment with different mixes like ralfy (ralfy.com / ralfystuff on youtube) suggested?

This is exactly what I would answer. I wouldn't feel at home if I haven't got at least a few whiskeys at home. Ardbeg is obviously really expensive so I prefer drinking Black Grouse as my everyday-whiskey and then save the Ardbeg for special occasions! As soon as I'm done with my education I'm sure that'll change though ^^

Since I'm a student, most of my drinking is done while pre-gaming at fellow students' apartments before we go out to the student clubs on campus. There's no better way to start off the night than by making dinner with one or two friends and have a beer and a whisky before heading to the bigger pre-party.

i started liking whisky like 4 years ago.Started with Glennfiddich 12,15 and 18years.
Other than that, i really like Talisker.It tastes very "smoky",love it.

EDIT: Also...this

My recommendation for whisky beginners is Glynelish 14. Very easy to drink yet still a very good whisky.

Blue Label is actually also perfect to start with, if it weren't for the price tag. It's rather bland but at least it's incredibly smooth.

Alternatively you can go with lesser ones like Black Label with ice, and progress after a while to drinking straight and then switch to better whiskys.

Nice collection! I'm an Islay-man myself. I have a bottle of Ardbeg Lord of the Isles, and a Laphroaig Triple wood. The Ardbeg is to die for, and the Laphroaig is really great, too! Other than that I have some random stuff, like JD, Jameson and Black Label, but they're obviously not comparable (and almost not worthy of mentioning) to the truly great single malts!

I started getting into Scotch about a year ago. Open right now, ive got some Highland Park 12, Aberlour 12, Macallan 12, and a Glenlivet Nadurra. The Nadurra is the shiz, definitely going to be re-buying that one when i polish this one off. If your interested in whiskey, i highly recommend you check out Ralfystuff on youtube and the web.

Man I'm in love with this thread at first sight. I'm a HUGE whiskey fan myself. Unfortunately, being a poor college student, I don't get to drink much of the finer whiskey's. Ordinarily when I drink, it'll be Jack, Jameson, and Makers Mark.

Thankfully, after much saving, I've been able to start up a collection of finer whiskey's. I've got a Macallan 15 year, Glen 21, and Highland park 15.

On a side note, are any of you cigar or pipe afficionados? There's nothing better than a good cigar or pipe with a glass of scotch. Yumm.

What I drink depends on how drunk I am, because the more buzzed I am, the less I appreciate a fine scotch;
so in the order of sober to "f`ed-in-half-drunk`

a single malt that seems to be spelled entirely with consonants and I always forget, Oban, Ballantine`s,...

I am now finishing a bottle of Glenmorangie and have killed a bottle of Glenlivet a while back. I have a lot of whisky stashed up, have a lot of bottles of Johnny Walker Black, which I play poker with. I would go broke if I served my friends single malt at every poker game we have at my place, Johnny Black is good enough.

My personal treasure is a bottle of Lagavulin 21 years which is simply fantastic. Talisker is also very nice, completely agree with the smoky tinge it has, complements it very well.

Love to smoke cigars drinking whisky, one of the better combinations in life IMO (Also add poker for extra awesomeness).

My grandfather has instilled in me a love for The Macallan. Usually an 18 or a 12. This is probably the only whiskey/scotch blend I drink and only at special events (holidays or birthdays).

I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread for to get a better idea of what else could be savory :D

may I ask, is it possible to drink whiskey and get drunk from it? Seems really foolish imo =p but to stay on topic, I like me a whiskey now and then but then its Jack and Coke..
