Yes (having now read the full context of her condition) that was too much. But corporal punishment overall isn't bad. For me it was the continuation of the conversation that got me riled up. Corporal punishment is fine, I myself was raised with corporal punishment as a possibility, but the fact that he didn't let it go was a bit much for me. Honestly, everyone's going to freak out and say she should be removed from the house, but I think that's ridiculous. She got belted. Woo hoo. Getting belted hurts like a son of a bitch, but it's nothing seriously harmful. And please don't pull the "mentally scarring" card out. It's not. I promise you. I'm pretty amazed by the reactions to this video, though I guess corporal punishment isn't used as much here this exact scenario (minus the ranting for a couple minutes) happens ALL the time in non-western households. I personally was brought up with corporal punishment as an option too and this is pretty much how it looked. I'm amazed for the opposite reason. The fact that these kinds of actions are defended by posters from developed countries just seems so alien to me. People actually arguing about the appropriate level of the violence in this situation. People actually think its fine to physically dominate and whip a 16 year old. Incredible. I would like to support the post by zere, PLEASE don't hit your kids.

How many of us would like it if our lives were video-taped and the worst 5 mins of it was let loose on the net? There's a difference between beating your daughter into submission and throwing over a mobile toilet or something. If your worst 5 minutes in your life are serious child abuse, then yes, you should be judged SOLELY by that. This is not acceptable in any way. Posts like these make me smile. Child abuse is just indefensible. Neither is any form of corporal punishment. If you have to resort to violence against someone who can't fight back, you are not fit to be a parent. The most digusting crap in this thread is people saying: "Well I've been hit and I'm fine." No you're not. You're a fucking idiot, look at how socially retarded you are to even say crap like this. It makes me so angry and sad to even think of how help- and powerless one has to feel in such a situation...

I truly hope that he can't sneak himself out of this because of his high status as a judge, because what I've seen in this Video is just absolutely horrible. Everyone that thinks that his actions aren't that bad or that it was more like mental abuse and not physical should really get their heads out of their asses and face reality: This kind of stuff can totally destroy a person. As a psychology major, after seeing this Vid, I really fear for the safety of the girl and this matter needs to get addressed ASAP, before this Asshole either hurts her more or she hurts herself!

Trying to be objective though, it's really scary to see how corporal punishment is seen as ok in some parts of the US, and so fucking hypocritical to see someone claim the "cursing is what's upsetting him, not the beating". Teach your children how to behave? Shape them into good human beings? My parents did all of that, without ever beating me (or my siblings). Guess what, you can punish kids in better ways, deny them their allowance, have them grounded, restrict their internet time, don't take them to the movies, what-have-you. To physically strike a kid, YOUR kid, who is supposed to feel loved and safe in her own home, who has to put up with living with that fucking poor excuse of a father, is the lowest thing you can ever do.

edit: I was physically punished heavily when I was a kid, sometimes I deserved it, sometimes it may have been too much. I am 25 now, I think Im doing good as a human being, and I still love my parents. Punishment is needed, don't be all whiney about it, wait till you got kids.

But for that to happen i had to be pretty damn fucking annoying and keep going even when being told to stop it. I think this is perhaps the worst thing i have ever seen. Gore and murders and whatnot are excesses, i can reason that they are the most extreme parts of humanity, but this... The worst thing watching this wasn't even so much seeing the man hit the kid. It was how he shouted at her and repeatedly tries to tell her that it's her own fault that this is happening. At one point he lowers his voice to a sort of whisper-shouting and you can really see what a sick and depraved man it is. This is like a dozen times worse in how "ordinary" it seems. Neither of the parents seem to feel that this is anything special. Everyday life evil, acted like it's nothing special. Maybe that is what makes it so horrible for me to watch, to see these people do this and not just not see the evil they are doing, but believing they are doing right.
