Someone maybe carrying a gun in a place where guns aren't allowed is hardly a news worthy thing. The only reason anyone reported this is because the title will probably draw views due to the past shooting there.

In the University of Delaware, I get a text message and a call twice a semester from the automated alert system to ensure it is working properly (scares the shit out of me every time it happens too). Does anyone enrolled in a university not get these test messages? On August 04 2011 23:58 dondo wrote: Lets not take to the streets yet. First of all someone with a gun is not a gunman by the definition of the virginia tech guy in 2007. People are allowed to carry weapons in va, on school campuses they are not allowed but there is still really nothing more then the word of the 3 students yet. Also if there is a gunman again by this point the whole campus is being locked down so lets wait for a story. I heard views in team liquid threads mattered.

Yeah, it might not be common to carry them around, but since the gun laws allow for them, why is it so bad that someone carries one? Yes, the specific place is... well, not exactly the best place to carry a gun around, but there is always the one guy who is just oblivious to the past and the rules or just doesn't care. Well, i still really hope it's just a stupid guy and that there are no malicious intentions - idiocy is often hard to discern from malignance.

"like this"? Someone may or may not be carrying a gun. There is no need for responses like yours. It's like saying "Oh, God, fires claiming innocent lives is such a tragic thing!" in response to a fire bell being pulled.

It's not as simple as "everyone can have guns everywhere all the time." It's not a light switch where you say "guns yes" or "guns no". The idea of gun ownership in America is also not about having them on you at all times and in all places. It is handled by state law, but typically it is illegal for a person to have a firearm out in public. Many times it can only be off your property when it is in a gun case, and unloaded. Of course that doesn't apply in designated hunting locations, but in suburbia/the city/anything but the forest or desert, it's pretty much always a crime to have a gun out in public.

Most states issue concealed carry permits and some that don't allow open carry. Maybe I am misunderstanding your wording and you mean that for most people, you are not allowed to have a gun in public which is true because most people don't have concealed carry permits but it still isn't the vast majority because some states allow open carry and/or concealed carry without a permit.

Most states issue concealed carry permits. A CCP isn't the super exclusive right to do whatever you want with your gun whenever you want. Not only is it made very difficult to get in most states, but you still CAN NOT take your gun out in public. It's concealed carry, not "wave it around in public" carry. Even with a permit, it's illegal in what I would imagine to be all 50 states to carry a concealed weapon onto a school campus.

Was it implied in the article that the man was waving it around or had even drawn it? I'm aware that even with a permit the man is breaking the law. Look at the entire conversation. It's clear that I know this. I'm just addressing untrue posts. It is possible this is just someone not being aware of the campus rules.
