It's not as simple as "everyone can have guns everywhere all the time." It's not a light switch where you say "guns yes" or "guns no". The idea of gun ownership in America is also not about having them on you at all times and in all places. It is handled by state law, but typically it is illegal for a person to have a firearm out in public. Many times it can only be off your property when it is in a gun case, and unloaded. Of course that doesn't apply in designated hunting locations, but in suburbia/the city/anything but the forest or desert, it's pretty much always a crime to have a gun out in public. | ||

Most states issue concealed carry permits and some that don't allow open carry. Maybe I am misunderstanding your wording and you mean that for most people, you are not allowed to have a gun in public which is true because most people don't have concealed carry permits but it still isn't the vast majority because some states allow open carry and/or concealed carry without a permit. | ||
