dagnamit!
i feel i've been cheated, i've been using opera dang near 5 years and i don't feel any smarter.
seriously though, i absolutely love how i can tinker with it and the best feature is the single keystroke shortcuts. unfortunately it gets wonky with some websites that use javascript (freezes on fomos unless i turn it off).

The I.E. users are suing because of this study????
Way to prove the study right....
|
You know, I've used IE since I was born, and it's always been fast and reliable--again, for me. Why would I switch? A bit of a reactionary and silly study, if you ask me.
|
This probably explain swhy when I have comepany and people use my pc to go on fb - Who I consider not the smartest ppl in the world - Some of them just use IE when there's clearly a FF icon on the desktop (I dont even have one on for ie), but they still managa to use IE, from the start menu or tray. I always find it really annoying and stupid. But I just thought that they they were just comper illeterate (or whatever its called), but turns out they're just stupid. Thank you article maker. Now I know.

The smarter you are the more you know, not to mention the more likely you are to be into tech-type stuff. Hence you might have heard of other browsers as well as have the technical expertise to choose one and switch to it. If you are less intelligent then you will tend to use a browser you are familiar with which means that you are generally speaking going to use the one with the most mind-share, which is IE, followed by Firefox. I suspect that a large percentage of people don't actually know what a browser is too.

anyone who gets mad about IQ being inaccurate are only mad because their brain is fail
^171 IQ

Ironically, the latest incarnation of IE is a perfectly viable alternative to any of the other popular browsers (not that any of the bandwagon haters would notice).
Personally I've been loyal to Firefox since it first showed up. Why? Because it's always been quick and stable, and was one of the first to introduce many of the features we now consider indispensable (tabbed browsing, saving sessions, recently closed tabs/windows recall, anonymous mode, etc.), and tends to be a step ahead of the competition at all times (at least when it comes to details I find important). It doesn't hurt that it's made by an independent company either (as opposed to a megacorporation like Google and Microsoft).
+ Show Spoiler +Mensa member since 2007, maximum score on the standardized test (156+, upper 99th percentile).

Damn, better not use IE6 or I'm going to be instantly stupid. ._.

Trying to measure human intelligence linearly with paper and pencil is ludicrous.

dont b mad u cant join mensa bro mensa has low standards, a 171 would definitely get you in

I use IE and I eat plastic forks so yeah... Study nullified.

who funds these studys? seriously. i want to know his IQ.

This is stupid. The "stupid" people probably just don't give a crap what web browser they use, and typically use whatever is already installed on their computer. Since everything windows OS comes with IE, that doesn't say a whole lot. If that is supposed to be their point, then it's just a terrible article to begin with.

LOL I KNEW MY MOM WAS STUPID ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm really good at sorting triangles and matching other sorts of patterns in an isolated setting where no one can bother me with socialization. That's why I use Chrome

1) IQ is a ridiculous measure that indicates nothing of significance.
2) IE gets dumped with all the people who are retarded enough to not get a new browser, as it is pre-loaded. This drags the average down.
3) IE with chrome frame is still IE.
4) Chrome uses advertising aimed at the general public. This would tend to drag the average IQ closer to the average IQ of the population. I would like to see the average IQ of users before Google started mass advertising their product.
5) Just because you use a particular web browser does not make you intelligent, this study is just pointing out a correlation. There are still geniuses who use IE and there are still complete morons who use Opera. Nobody cares if you used Opera since the beginning of time.

Good thing I only use Internet Explorer to look up dumb things.
|
what a pointless study. I have 2 firefox windows with about 125 active tabs and a chrome window with 15. Quite frankly trying to use IQ tests to single out a browser is funny, because real smart people wouldn't A) see an ad for the IQ test B) bother doing it in the first place.
|
I don't know... You can really make the argument that IQ tests are bullshit, but I have a supposed IQ of 135 so works for me. Makes me feel inadequate since I've used IE until 2 years ago.
|
I've been using IE since forever and my IQ is at least 73 according to those online IQ tsets and that's a big number.
