But there's no need for it to happen because everyone already knows what the reaction would be. These double standards sicken me.

Rape, however, is not something that happens once every century, it's something that's a real problem in pretty much every country, and all but accepted in some countries. Sexism is still an obvious problem everywhere, men dominate every important and rewarding job; in finance I can tell you it's a pure sausage fest and most of my bosses wouldn't even think about hiring a woman. My point is, there's a reason why people are fighting against machism in our society. But this perceived sexism against men is something that doesn't really exist, no one should care about this stuff.

I noticed that I only had a 8% return last year, after investing all my wealth in a 12 month term deposit, with my AAA rated bank. Its so unfair that there were people who made 50% returns for investing in small-cap stocks. Why should they have higher returns? Its so unfair. This discrimination must be stopped.

I don't know why the idea that there can be sexism against men is such an offensive notion to you when it apparently exists. I agree with pretty much all you said & it's horrible. It's people doing those horrible acts, not men. If you're going to start generalizing about men all being rapists then we can all start generalizing about how women would love to cut a mans dick off since it was so funny for all the women on that tv-show no? and it'd get us nowhere. My fundamental point being we're all people and we're all different. I'm a man and I'm not a rapist and for you to say you have to fight men (or machism) because some men rape then that's silly.. You fight those people who do that or their view that it's accepted. My own 2c on why they'd laugh is women have been having it worse than men for a good while (like you pointed out yourself with your own opinion) and now they laugh when men gets the rough end of a stick. gloating I'd say.

That would make you happy? Also if you find it sickenimg how can anyone laugh at this, i remember seeing a tv show that waas a collection of worlds funniest filmed deaths. FURTHERMORE, sexism exist and it alwayss will. Men and women are different. You cannot rable everytime something sexist happens in this world. If it makes you feel any better, women dont always the longer stick in sexism.

I mean this is the forum which gave us "gems" like: "My girlfriend was raped" "What map?" and (regarding someone being decapitated by a batman themed rollercoaster) "I guess batman went to his head?" Are you guys seriously going to cry foul when someone makes a black joke now?

Imagine if 6 men joked about cutting of a woman's labia and clitoris because she wanted to separate. Inequality is more so in women than it is in men, after witnessing that video.

I think they laugh because it's the kind of strange news that make people laugh. If I hadn't seen that topic I would've found that amusing to be honest. Horrible, but amusing. What I find disturbing though, is people drawing parallels between this, and rape. Rape is a real "social fact" to quote Durkheim, and a real problem. There are statistics, easy to find on the net, that show that it affects a large number of people. It has nothing to do with one crazy psychopathic woman butchering her husband. If there was a dick cutting spree I might understand your anger, but right now all I can see is a bunch of nerds posting hateful garbage against women.

Basically from what I can tell, if we started shutting down the most inflammatory and irresponsible media starting with the worst and working our way down the line it would be a looooooooooong time before we got to this show.

So are you saying that rape is bad because it happens often, unlike this issue? Well, that does not make sense, because the frequency of a crime has totally nothing to do with it's severity. Even if rape happened one in a blue moon, it would still be as severe. Consequentially, this issue must also be viewed likewise.

No, that is not at all what I said. This isn't about the severity of the crime (I think we all agree she's crazy and should be in jail - and she will be), it's about our reaction to it. My point was that the reason why we shouldn't make fun of rape or violence against women is that society needs to understand how bad these things are. It would be irresponsible for a TV presenter to laugh about a guy beating up his wife, because there are actually a lot of people who beat their wives. It's almost accepted as normal behavior for some people. However, there aren't, to my knowledge, many people cutting dicks in America. The issue of people cutting dicks is inarguably not as serious as the issue of rape.
