People here aren't really much smarter, it's just the moderation and environment that brings out the smarter in people rather than the typical troll and stupidity. The topics you were trying to start are just spam with very little discussion and allowing that sort of thread to exist would hurt the image of the site imo.

This is the stupid questions thread, so be default, all questions posed here are stupid. This means a question cannot be 'funny or stupid', because it will be inherently automatically stupid. However, you can find a question to be funny and stupid, so if you suspected his post to be funny, then it may have been funny. It can be said that humor is often found in strange places, even where it is not intended as humor WHICH I WHY I FUCKING EXIST

I like paying stupid builds (any race), but i need some that can keep me alive for 10 minutes before i throw away a possible win with a bad army composition. Suggestions? Don't tell me to be a smurf and bully the bronzies.

Mass reavers and slow-crawl them across the map

Suggestions? Don't tell me to be a smurf and bully the bronzies. Play Protoss, you can stay alive for 10 minutes off of planetary overcharge alone!
If you see a Protoss or Terran early expand, mass oracles. An oracle kills a stalker 1 on 1 and marines melt like butter unless there's a whole blob of them. Off of two stargates it should be possible.
Haven't tried with Zerg (phoenix is so much more fun and practical), but I think a queen might win out by a little bit. Higher DPS and all. But on the plus side, they take a long time to make, so maybe at low levels you can pull it off!

OK, I did a little bit of research and I have found some new ideas for game threads. Now, I'm not sure if any of them will be a success, so I want to ask for your opinion before I make a new thread.
The Philosophy Game The idea is to have an endless philosophical argument. To win the game, you have to ensnare your opponents with your crazy philosophical arguments until they get so confused that they give up.
The Scoring Game You have to rate the previous poster with a score from 1 to 10. The previous poster can try to improve his score by pointing out how awesome he is.
The "Make New Friends" Game Every poster has to post the statement "I wanna make new friends!" at the end of his post. The next poster then has to refute that statement by saying something like "Yes, but first you need to get rid of that smell!", followed by the sentence "I wanna make new friends!".
The Crazy Cat and Mouse Game Nomen est omen. This game is just pure crazy!
The Rock, Paper Scissors game with a twist This is basically rock, paper scissors. Players post pictures of rocks, papers or scissors. However, whenever players wants to post a rock, they need to accompany that with an embarassing fact about themselves.
Captain Obvious Captain Obvious is a captain who says obvious things. To act like him, posters must say obvious things.
The Silly Math Game The aim of the game is to post mathematical equations for people to solve. Whoever manages first to solve an equation wins a seat in "The Crazy Cat and Mouse Game".
The "You wake up in bed with the poster above you" game Players need to describe what they do when they wake up in bed with the previous poster.

I think they are all bad ideas. I kind of liked the 'This or That' thread myself if it had a few more rules. But that got shutdown quick. Sounds like you are fighting a losing battle.
If I were to suggest a 'game' type thread maybe one for 'random facts/stats about players with sources' that could be interesting to follow if it trended with active tournaments.
Honestly if you want to have a chance it has to be a game with information people could use.
