+ Show Spoiler +The #CancelColber movement reminds me of how stupid the social justice movement is. You're offended? Don't watch Colbert. Don't follow him on Twitter. Watch Jon Stewart and then change the channel when Colbert comes on. But I'd rather let this guy state my points for me - he does it funnier and more to-the-point:

+ Show Spoiler + On the internet, yeah. Black people get all the shit, and Jewish people too. However, on television, saying anything about a black person, even if it is positive, requires an "official apology". That's why in movies and on TV, there's no all-black gangs. There's always white people in the gangs to let you know that the writers aren't racist.
So I recently watched a comedy movie (which was fucking funny) where there was a generic Asian guy with a stereotypical accent. To be honest, it was funny. He was even holding a duck. In another movie, a guy asks some Asian guys about a cat, and they snicker as he walks away. Now imagine if these were scenes with black guys. Like a black guy runs up with a basketball and a bucket of KFC and a t-shirt that says "Real Nigga" on it, and he's talking like some hood-rat. There would be an apocalyptic shit-storm that would rain down on the people who made that shit. Sure, black comedians write movies that make fun of black people all the time, but if it were a white person making a movie that makes fun of black people, shit would hit the fan.
I'm just saying... I don't agree with Suey Park at all. I think she's a fucking idiot, because she's not campaigning for racial equality, but racial empowerment, and the difference is that she can be racist as shit towards white people and go "You're white and male, so you don't understand the struggle of minorities and women." Yeah, white males do some fucked-up shit, but that's because anybody can do fucked-up shit. If there's ever going to be real racial harmony, it's going to come through a sense of genuine empathy and compassion for one another, not this divisive shit where she singles out the differences in people. I think she should apologize to Stephen Colbert, then retire and get a real fucking job.
My only thing was like, "Why is it always okay for Asians to be the butt of jokes?" and I don't mean it like I'm all offended and shit, but I'm genuinely curious. Colbert (the show) could have said "We're donating to the Fried-Chicken-n-Spinning-Rims-Naahmean Foundation to promote sensitivity towards darkies." and guess what? Al Sharpton would shit brix. There is no fucking way the writing staff would even remotely find that acceptable, and even if somehow, someway, they did, once the editors got to it, they would immediately say no, but if by some miracle of Jesus of Nazareth they said "yes", and that shit made it to Twitter, it would be World War 3.

+ Show Spoiler + I thought more of the #CancelColbert stuff was due to his rather obvious transphobic remarks all over the place. Also it's all well and good to say "Just don't watch it", but it's then akin to just saying "Just don't go to places where there are racists/homophobes/etc". You shouldn't have to think "Okay, this show's coming on and I have to watch something else or I'll be triggered/offended". Like if you don't like it because you don't find the humour to your tastes then sure, but if it's on there and straight up offensive, the idea is you take it away. I think it more echoes nina's query on "Why is it ok to have one group the butt of jokes but not another?". Is it the size of the lobbying group against such aggressions? Whatever. I like(d) Colbert's stuff, but what he's been saying more of late has left a pretty sour taste.

+ Show Spoiler +In high school, everyone in my class had to write and present a Senior Speech to the rest of the school. Mine basically boiled down to "political correctness is a load of shit".
Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right. What Colbert says is in jest, and this should be recognized because he hosts a fucking comedy show. If someone is actually racist, that's a problem. Racist jokes are hilarious and as long as they are purely in jest, that's totally fine.
If you don't like the content of a show, change the channel. This is actually something you should have to do. It's not up to everyone else to tiptoe around others' insecurities and sensitivities when it comes to comedy.
I don't like the content of Say Yes to the Dress, so I don't watch it. Why should this be any different for the Colbert Report?

+ Show Spoiler +I always figured that what Colbert says is intentionally offensive because he's mocking those kind of people by satirizing them to the extreme. I've not heard him say anything really transphobic, racist, sexist, or whatever that wasn't obviously parody, but I haven't watched a lot of his most recent stuff. That #CancelColbert thing was just about anti-asian racism, which, if you watched that actual segment, was clearly the satirization that I mentioned previously. Some people just want to be offended, I swear.

+ Show Spoiler + Some people, notably "feminists" although they might be extremist nutters rather than feminists in this case, have started using "Cis", the shortened form of "Cisgendered", as a derogatory label. It's so fucking disgusting and sickening to see this Tumblr feminist movement expanding and getting otherwise reasonable women and reasonable feminists all riled up.
Liberal white cisgendered males, all of them, are no longer merely the defacto leader of society. Their existence is now a threat, and they're ALL the enemy of some faction or another of feminism. And those enemies are "cis". "This fucking cis thinks his word is better than mine" is now a valid way to dismiss any rational argument that is being made.
I think it's profoundly fucked up that women, who have historically always been oppressed and still have work to do to achieve equality, have to put up with this despicable and frankly counter-productive movement. My conviction in the equality of the sexes is untouched but my main concern is that it's not the case for everyone... Some guys are unable to think critically and all this "cis" bullshit being thrown around is causing animosity.
A good comparison is the student protests here. At first it was great and got them (us) heard, and managed to get positive social change... Now it's just annoying everyone because we've institutionalized our bullshit protests that happen all the time for a vast array of confusing reasons.

+ Show Spoiler +FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING USELESS CUNT. You're sick? CALL IN SICK THEN. You're tired? Guess what, we all work night shift, we're all tired. Don't come into work and sit on your fat ass, and make me do all the work. Do you think I'm fucking stupid? When I come back from my break, and nothing is done, do you honestly think I won't notice?
And to top it off, at the end of the day, when you've come back from a half hour break when you were you supposed to take only 15, you leave our room and go talk to your friend. I am hauling ass, doing the work of two people so that the next shift isn't completely boned when they start.
And I come out to you and your friend, with sweat literally pouring down my face, and knowing that we will probably have to work together in the future, I manage a strangled, "Hey can you please help me get the room ready for the next shift?". And what do you say? You actually have the balls to say, "DON"T BE AN ASSHOLE".
I HAVE NEVER WANTED TO PUNCH A WOMAN IN THE FACE SO BADLY IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I'M GLAD YOUR HUSBAND LEFT YOU, YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT. YOU BETTER PRAY TO THE GODS OF FAT USELESS BITCHES THAT I DON'T EVER SEE YOU WALKING OUTSIDE BECAUSE I WILL TOTALLY CARMAGEDDON YOUR ASS.

+ Show Spoiler +I hope you failed your speech, then. It's not just satire. It's jokes made at the expense of an opressed minority. It's saying "This group has been mocked, beaten, tortured, killed, but it's ok because we're just a comedy show, so we can continue to make fun of them". It re-enforces that any plight they've suffered can be mocked and/or ignored. That's why changing the channel is meaningless. There's still people sitting there, taking it in, laughing and ignoring the fact that the people that are the butt of those jokes are still getting hurt or even killed today. But it's ok, though, because you got a fucking giggle out of it and anything else would be political correctness gone mad, right?

+ Show Spoiler +I've worked with high school and college kids who can't even add 5 + 3, yet "need" to do well in their calculus classes... but nothing compares to the amount of patience required to deal with Verizon tech support. My god, it was akin to this:

I got my anger out in a nice cathartic way, told my friends for a good laugh, and hopefully can go about my life the same as yesterday. + Show Spoiler + I've only got one question. Why do Asians always got to be the butt of jokes?
YOU KNOW WHAT MAKES ME SUPER-MAD, THOUGH? Bitches and hoes.
Also, fuck Suey Park, she needs to get a real job.
+ Show Spoiler +Are they? I find that if one category had the most racist jokes it would be blacks.
Britches and hose + Show Spoiler + On the internet, yeah.

+ Show Spoiler +I'm of the belief that humor is ultimately for the best. Yes, people have been humiliated/tortured/killed in the past. Some groups are still any or all of these things today.
But it's not ignoring it. It's finding the bright spots in the darkness that make the world a better place. Perpetuating the issues and stating the problems without offering a solution or making the problem disappear is what keeps the problem in existence. And it gets to the point where you can't make any joke, and I mean a decently funny joke, without offending someone or other.

+ Show Spoiler +Sadly, I've seen a lot dumber from people who were supposed to be a lot smarter: " NASA lost an unmanned mission owing to a mix-up between metric and imperial units. In September 1999, its $125 million Mars Climate Orbiter probe was destroyed because its attitude-control system used imperial units but its navigation software used metric units. As a result, it was 100 kilometres too close to Mars when it tried to enter orbit around the planet." ~ http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17350-nasa-criticised-for-sticking-to-imperial-units.html#.U0Xs9fldVS8 But my call with Verizon today was just a matter of my losing patience over the course of three hours and a dozen phone transfers, which ended up just going in circles. But that's tech support, for ya. It gives you a giant middle finger, and then four hours later it transfers you to another giant middle finger. I really hate how tech support efficiency is not based on the merits and validity of your concerns, but instead on how loud and aggressive you are with the representatives. I am wayyy too nice to those people, and eventually I yelled at some poor guy and he got shit done. But Verizon just made the list of tech support groups that I strongly, strongly, strongly dislike. (The only others on the list are Toshiba and Geek Squad.)

+ Show Spoiler +You...you had to contact Geek Squad tech support? And lived to tell about it?
Perhaps the better question though is what would drive a man to such desperate measures as using Geek Squad? Unless you just had some money you wanted to throw away, in which case I can provide you with my information...

+ Show Spoiler +This is what grinds my gears, guys like Colbert and Stewart can be total assholes and want people to take seriously the asshole things they say because their targets are allegedly stupid assholes so it's okay. But as soon as they say something that they really can't defend they wave the white flag of "I'm just a comedian man" and expect it to be okay. It's totally self-serving. They're just fine with people taking their political comedy seriously and forming their personal political beliefs off of it, but when someone pins them down on something stupid they said, they want to hide behind "I'm just a comedian" and you're stupid and not cool if you don't accept that and give them a free pass. Jon Stewart is way worse with this heads-I-win-tails-you-lose crap than Colbert though.

+ Show Spoiler +Is this in reference to the Colbert Report tweet regarding the "offensive" Asian joke? Because that was a parody in reference to the Redskins coach and what he had said about Native Americans... and Colbert didn't even tweet the Asian joke (someone else did), and everyone incorrectly went all apeshit on Colbert.
