Whoever says he's proud of these rioters I have 2 words for you: Don't breed.
No people were just drunk idiots. And It's Canada so we care (maybe too much...) about our hockey. Hockey Night in Canada on the CBC! It's watched and loved by ridiculous amounts of Canadians. How many countries have over 50% of their country's population watch a sport on TV (not even counting the viewer parties...).
We're passionate about our hockey. The problem is all the idiots who planned to make trouble in advance. They brought Molotov Cocktails to the streets when they watched the games.. you don't do that unless you plan on causing shit.

Reffing scandal or not, it wouldn't have made much, if any, difference considering the absolute failure of the vancouver powerplay during the series. Especially giving up more SH goals than PP goals lol

The main trouble-makers of the riot would have been doing this regardless of a win or a loss. It's a small small group of people doing the burning/looting and 90% of it is just spectactors/fans of the game screaming and being dumb lol.

Do you not see the difference between being passionate about your team and being a reckless drunken dipshit?

As a neutral spectator I was shocked at how often and easily Canucks' players fell to ground (ice lol). More than once I had to pinch myself to confirm that I wasn't in some crazy dream where I was watching La Liga on ice.
Fans should be upset at their own flopping players, not the officials. =P

I used to think this was a beautiful city...

For the majority of people it was just major disappointment at the result of the game. People were expecting a one goal game in Vancouver with great scoring chances, great saves, great plays and relatively clean play. What we got was a one sided game that was slowly slipping out of control due to the refs calling barely anything.
The aftermath on the other hand was the result of a few people who decided that trashing downtown would be a good idea. I'd assume the instigators would've started the shit regardless but if we won, they would've been shut down fast to preserve the family friendly downtown that the city was going for but since we lost, a lot of people are just hanging around to watch the carnage, especially the people who were congregating around the fires, throwing stuff into the fires and taking pictures and generally impeding the police's ability to get the people who were actually causing damage.

I am so ashamed to be associated with vancouver in any way (I live in a Major City beside Vancouver). It's sad both times in the last 15 years that Vancouver has lost the Stanley Cup finals that a riot was started. I understand being mad, but why take it out on the city? Vancouver got outplayed. Boston played to win, and Vancouver played with very little passion at all. I think the NHL should take away Vancouver's team. Maybe they would learn something.
