It's a timeline thing. Back in 2006/07 I played CoD4 competitively, and I was one of the new kids who didn't play CoD2, and was on my team's B-list for some time. Now I play Black Ops at my friends house and absolutely dominate everyone (and yes, I view it as a terrible game).

Same thing with WoW. My guild called me a "BC kid" for ages. I, of course, call people Wrath babies. And I shall be calling people Cata fetuses.

Yeah, this is true for me in so many cases. Especially with music it's a pain to find stuff that stays outside of mainstream for long.

I liked being a geek before everyone started watching Big Bang Theory. Now most of my friends have started learning useless facts and wearing T-shirts with logo's and saying's, they know nothing about.

This might be showing my age but back in the early 90's when I first started college I first discovered and fell in love with anime and manga at roughly the first time I discovered the internet. Keep in mind that this was many years before it hit big time with Dragonball, Pokemon, etc and became mainstream. There was a very very small anime/manga scene in North America and I felt like I belonged in an exclusive club.

Then the 2000's approached and then it felt like our exclusive get-together was invaded by the rest of the country. I went from feeling alternative to feeling like a mainstream sheep. I sort of lost interest in anime/manga over the past decade as a result (also, I just felt I had outgrown manga that was primarily aimed at adolescents).

i liked being a nerd before it was... almost normal. skipping classes to play CS and raid in WoW or play games of DotA/ladder on wc3, those were the days. ive liked minzy since day 1 of 2ne1. i liked hardstyle before it became a thing. liked anime since i was 6 and havent looked back since, and disliked other anime fans since i was 7.

thats about all i can remember for now.

skateboarding, guitar, sc at my school, and WoW (quit after i downed LK though).
Idk, I really enjoy finding new people who are really into things I like, but when it gets to that point where it's the "new thing" to do at school and everyone gets so arrogant over it it's really annoying. Like how they opened up a guitar class at school and not a single damn person is interested in music theory or understanding the guitar itself they just want to fit their own image.

Or the mechanics behind sc and Wow.

I totally agree with the OP..except for the fact that I always feel like I like things before the people who like things before they're cool. It really kills me when I encounter random hipsters talking about the usual underground bands. It usually irks me enough where I have to jump in and explain to them that the under-underground is where it's really at. For example, when I heard these designed glasses-wearing kids with blazers and skinny jeans on talking about Arcade Fire and My Morning Jacket, I'd jump in and tell them about how I'm teaching my little cousin to play drums right now, and once he gets older and forms a band, they'll be all the rave, and that I was there when it started - with the rest of the few true fans.

Not to be harsh, but it just seems like the OP just wants to brag about how he's a hipster.

I played video games before they were just for the multiplayer purpose, you know back in the day when you bought a game for the campaign(SC still has that effect on me, but its one of the only ones nowadays)

The CoDs are prime examples of the multiplayer only games, they have like 10hours of singleplayer and its not that great
