These pictures are all taken when the earth is facing away from the sun. So its not really as if you were viewing from the earths perspective. What he could of done is take a picture everyday for a year and then maybe have a sorta accurate view. edit; actually I dont understand why he had to travel at all to do this. If you could take 2 pictures (to get a view from top to bottom) on the same longitude every night for a year you would get an accurate result.

exeexe: u started the derailing with something stupid. #1 - God and Aliens are not the same thing. Maybe to certain people who believe Alien's = god but God does not = alien. #2 - 37,000 pictures is not enough proof of space to say "no aliens". Aliens prolly further away. If any were close by they be cloaked like Arb and full of predators probably. (P.S. Think about how huge space is)

There are more stars than grains of sand on all the beaches of the world, yet people still wonder if life exists elsewhere...... Some other interesting stuff, if you use the labels icon to show the constellations, then find the big dipper. The star Mizar if you zoom in you will actually see 2 stars. This is visible with the naked eye sky at night. The large star is actually a solar system with 5 stars wobbling around each other, the smaller star is actually a binary star system (2 suns). If you'd like to see something equally breathtaking take a look at this It will give you a whole new appreciation of our universe. Here is a high quality version of the image the video talks about. http://zebu.uoregon.edu/hudf/hudf.jpg

This is very similar to Starry Nights. In some sense his pictures seem to have some more quality to them compared to Starry Nights. But of course you can't turn on the constellations or ask for star names, etc. As for the bulge of the universe, you can't see it if you are too far north on the northern hemisphere. If you are nearer to the equator, you can see it close to the horizon. On the southern hemisphere, it will be visible overhead and is stunning, so I am told. Parts of it make me wonder if it's even real, but it is amazing either way. Some of it looks so amazing that you cant imagine it being real, but i do believe its all real, just timelapsed which sure makes for some neat effects. Part of the "unreal" feel of the video comes from the editing. Several of the shots, especially of the mountain itself, appear to be composites from multiple cameras or one camera taking multiple exposures in rapid succession. I'm sure it's been faithfully edited, or more likely, was compiled together by a computer in real time. Either way, it's all real, and very beautiful.

So its not really as if you were viewing from the earths perspective. What he could of done is take a picture everyday for a year and then maybe have a sorta accurate view. edit; actually I dont understand why he had to travel at all to do this. If you could take 2 pictures (to get a view from top to bottom) on the same longitude every night for a year you would get an accurate result. yea im not really sure what the deal is with how he did it, its confusing.

I am glad to see others respond the same way, that's why I share these with anyone I can when I happen to find one. It's really hard to deny the power of these pictures if you know anything about chemistry or astronomy. Amazing photos of our galaxy but imo the vimeo video was a lot more epic than the OP.
