Though I prefer Zerg, I was thinking of doing a Terran unit for the mech-ness. I've never really made a mech style costume before, but I think it could turn out looking awesome, cute and original.
I want to call BS the same girl/costume combo circulated on the inernet about 2 years ago, not that exact image but... (you should still put a NSFW on that). Ill have faith and say you havent cosplayed in a while...
I would suggest Nova or maybe the SCBW medic or the banshee pilot.

Haha, I think that's a little beyond the reach my poor little college butt can pull off. Costumes that require a lot of make-up and well-fitted items are REALLY hard to make (and expensive)!
A reaver would definitely be unique, but I don't know how I would modify it into a human-esq shape that works for the entire body... :'(
Show up insanely drunk. Then just start spreading something slimy on the floors, throw some weird balls here and there, scream and growl by yourself and puke all over the place.
No, generally not. Actually, one of my good friends notes that I am like a gay guy stuck in a female body. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, though...

I think they are out of line and I don't think anyone would say them to my face. However, it is the Internet and the Internet says what it damn well pleases and that is going to stop me from making the costumes I want, saying the things I believe or doing the activities I love.
Not going to lie, as crude as some of them are, they can be somewhat flattering. I think most girls won't admit it, but I'm not going to lie. If a guy finds me attractive enough that he wants to tell the whole world how he got himself off to me, well, then I guess I can count that as a compliment to my look, right? Haha, I don't approve of what a lot of people say about me, but I don't get upset about it either.

I guess many of them mean well, but some of them don't know how to express themselves, and some just want to impress their fellow male friends.
Personally, I find you very attractive, and I appreciate what you're doing. And if I got to decide, as far as cosplay goes, you should dress up in something that reminds of Alexstrasza when it comes to amount of fabric.
That Alexstrasza pic is hot. No lying. If I went to Blizzcon last year you probably would have caught me failing at trying not to stare.
Kerrigan and Nova and to a lesser extent the medic (don't even know if medics are in SC2 since I play BW) are kind of the obvious choices but you might not want to do them because of that.
Personally, I vote in favor of doing an anthropomorphized Zerg unit from the NerfNow comic.
Every time I see this amount of attention w****** I die inside a little.
To elaborate myself, of all those cool looking costumes she did like Aries, Haruko, Faris etc which one she did post? Only one that is NSFW and then she says this: "I think they are out of line and I don't think anyone would say them to my face." - just unbelievable.
(Internet is really not a place for me if I am getting bugged by posts like these.)
It'd be pricey but you could easily convert it to a marauder next year if you go with it.
I don't feel Firebat's got enough deserved attention in sc2 I always feel like I'd spot a firebat in his armor looking a tad sad with a sign saying "Looking for work, good with zerglings."
without a doubt medic <3 otherwise...mutalisk would be pretty funny, you could run around and harass people. High Templar could make a pretty nice costume too
rabbit if girls using their sexuality for attention bugs you then the internet is merely the tip of lifes iceberg.
I think everyone craves attention and recognition in their lives, it only really bugs me when people act in a certain way or lie in order to get it.
But a picture cannot lie... it's merely a picture... albeit a pretty hawt one!
Cosplay wise, go as a barracks, you can have fun creeping up to people then kneeling down and start scattering little toy soldiers around their feet one by one, then if they notice you stand up slowly and run away. Although the fun depends on how much u enjoy the personification of a proxy barracks rush that gets scouted.
I'd vote for probe or mira han, though I do tend to agree. The whole OP revolves around just costumes for "her" and more over its attention whoring rather than say something more general like, hey anyone doing cosplay at Blizzcon, if so what are some of your ideas?
A female high templar or Phoenix would be pretty cool I think. Protoss units lend themselves so well to costumes. You could gain 300lbs and go as a mothership if you want

I think you don't understand I'm referring to extremely crude and sexual explicit comments that are just plain vulgar. If someone wants to compliment my body, go for it. If they want to say, "fuk, i wana get that cunt, etc, etc," that's a different story and not something I approve of just for sake of simple decency. As for posting the Alexstrasza costume, it is the only Blizzard/Blizzcon costume I have done and my latest finished work.
My next piece is actually Nidalee (unless you count the costumes I'm making for my Shakespeare class), but I don't have any photos of it, because I only just have purchased the fabric and I am waiting until after finals to start sewing.

A medic would be fairly awesome, but I have absolutely no experience when it comes to making large armor. I don't know how I'd do it. As cheap as I am, I'd like to do paper mache, but that tends to look tacky and is easily damaged! I have yet to work with casting and plaster, though, so that may be a fun and (fairly) simply piece to try it out with.
Riku, I seem to remember reading on a cosplay site somewhere that you can make foam/papier mache armor look pretty good and sorta realistic by coating it with fiberglass resin (from an auto parts store) before you paint it. I did a quick search online and it doesn't seem like it's that expensive, relatively speaking. I'm at work right now so I don't have the link bookmarked, but when I get home later I'll try to post the link here for you. :3
Props on your Alexstrazsa costume, btw! I remember seeing you at Blizzcon and thinking, "That chick's got serious ovaries." You owned that costume.

Pic was earlier posted and incredible eyesight tells me that she most likely uses weirdshaped high heels to imitate a 2nd leg joint.
I personally would vote for Mira Han(aka the hot pinkhaired girl) Quick google search brought me only this official pic and this video: + Show Spoiler +
You can see top part of her closing(seems to me like functional clothing with mercenary-esque attire like grenade belt. Also I found these fanarts(kinda NSFW) + Show Spoiler +
Imho just mix and match what you like best/is affordable for you. Most people only know Mira by her face(from the campaign), so you should focus on pink hairstyle, 1 red contactlense, fake scars and headband with glowing goggles.
If you like going in a bikini costume(Cosplayers are showoffs, there I said it) you should in my opinion still go with one shoulder plate and the grenade belt and maybe pants in favor of naked legs
I can´t imagine a mercenary with naked legs. Mercenaries should, like real world soldiers, probably carry quite some equipment. (different kits for first aid, cleaning guns etc.) Here is a pic for reference: + Show Spoiler +
Damn, now I want to see this cosplay come real. I wish you best of luck with your costume either way.
Haha did you attend the Strongbad Arts College? Trogdor Muta-late!
I'm a guy so I'm tempted to go with Kerrigan, but I suppose that is kind of cliche. In regards to that the Selendis suggestion was actually pretty cool. Anything people put time in is awesome to watch though. Just don't go as the Goliath pilot please..
i don't get the haters. i think what riku's doing is really cool, and her costumes are pretty well-made and obviously not designed with skimpiness as the main objective. alexstraza really does look like that o_o

If you want to do a more minor character I think Mira Han is a good choice.
Many of the units are hard to represent given the shape of the human body and I don't think they tend to come out very well.
The only problem is Mira Han does not give you a lot of room for creativity.
Other then that, I thought Selendis was another really good suggestion. I know you said you didn't want to do it, but I think perhaps you should reconsider. Yeah, you can't do certain parts of the body justice, but thats true of many cosplays. Plus you can be a little bit more creative with Selendis.
Oh boy oh boy does that sunken colony ever look sexy. Should prolly go with a ghost, like Nova or human Kerri. If you could pull off the costume, though, Selendis would be amazing. It would probably be quite a bit tougher though.

It's the struggle for male attention in female-poor communities.
The few times I played MMORPGs, I realized that if I ignored a "hot gurl" in a group, everyone ignored me. It was sort of the link between all the others. Another time, people were being extra nice to me, and I thought, oh cool, a nice community. But it was because my nick sounded feminine and they assumed I was a girl. It was an awkward realization.
But I hear my internets are changing and that girls start to like online stuff. But until we have 50/50 we will have "hot gurls" who receive way too much attention for what is fit for male dignity!
About cosplays, I think a zerg cosplay would be difficult but more fun; it won't be serious, that's for sure. On the other hand, Terran can be pulled off in quite a "cool" way - any infantry unit could possibly look realistic. But if you want to be original, go as a ship or a doodad.

Ah, yes, I am well aware of the unfortunate drama of MMOs. When I fist started playing WoW I was 16 and completely unaware of it (my first day I made a thread called "new dr00d looking for friends"). I eventually learned many a lessen and, now when someone out of guild asks if i'm a girl, I tell them i'm a bear. ;D
As for cosplay, yeah, i'm really digging the idea of a baneling or mech form of a terran unit. A few pages ago I posted my sketch of a Raven mech chick I quickly drew up and I think it would be super fun to create. My zerg love pushes me towards the baneling, though...

Nidalee is a badass, but really not super OP. I think the most OP part of her isn't her spear (it is rather easy to avoid), it's her ability to run away! With +15% movement speed in bushes and 2 seconds after leaving them, combined with her pounce on a 4 second CD in cougar, she can run away from ANYONE. I've had entire teams chase after me and still fail to kill me!! :D
Though I would probably make a main costume, it IS always nice to have a more-normal set of clothes to wander around in. I think this would be a good way to be in costume and comfortable on my day off from the more hard-core cosplay.
My suggestion would be to go as Kate Lockwell, then get a guy to go with you as Donny Vermillion. Then do mock interviews all throughout the convention.

Though I would probably make a main costume, it IS always nice to have a more-normal set of clothes to wander around in. I think this would be a good way to be in costume and comfortable on my day off from the more hard-core cosplay.
Such a good idea. Haha.
Plus, you could wear the totally baller Handsome Nerd shirt you would need for the costume in your day to day life!
Kerrigan will be overdone. There will be a ton of them at any convention you go to, so I'm not interested in seeing a Kerrigan whatsoever. However, seeing a marine or a marauder would be awesome.

SC clothes AND glasses!
I think he had a few more distinguishable shirts and jackets. I actually already have glasses fairly close to his! Maybe I can make a Womanfred bunny to carry around with me!

ROFL Get some of those foot stilts construction workers use and don't forget the pit stains!
Glue on some austin powers hair coming out of every sleeve and chest opening also!

LOL. Do this
Wow, this is actually really cool. Thing is, not everyone knows who KL and DV are, since they're not as recognizable as ie Kerrigan ]:

Oh man that gave me a good laugh! Specially because all the bystanders seem to actually ignore it, like it is a normal part of the scenery they are used to xD

She's my main in LoL haha <3
My RL friend plays with me occasionally, and he's one of those people who claims everything is OP that kills him. He was ranting about how hideously OP she was. I'm like, "No dude, just dodge the spear!" lol...
On topic, I think Kerrigan, while supremely hawt, is overdone. But Ghost Nova would be epic if you could pull the costume off.
When I play as Ashe, I use a build that finalizes at 540ish movespeed. As I play Zerg but was always envious of Terran, especially back when Terran would make Marauders to beat everything, I like to call it my Marauder Concussive Shell Ashe. So very fun to micro, lol. And grabbing Exhaust to screw Master Yi, the bane of Ashe, over.
I looked at your Raven sketch. It's pretty nice, but I don't get what makes it a Raven or Raven pilot. Especially since the SC2 Raven picture is ambiguous as hell. It looks very similar to the top of your Dragon Queen costume.
That one anime-style Baneling costume art that's floating around in this thread, though. That was cute and sexy. If you could work something like that out, it'd be awesome!
Don´t forget to get wigs for your arms when you go as Day[9]. The upper sides of his arms are hairy as hell. Also "I just woke up" hair is must imho. and get something so you´re about as tall as him. 190 cm if I recall correctly, according to google that´s 6'2''.
Not to stop you from anything, but I am not sure how you have any recognition factor with your raven costume. Would you be going as operator or as a "transformer" version of the unit itself?

Don't make the Noob mistake of including pants in your costume
As all of us live viewers know, day9 is actually a sock puppet. He has no legs. I dunno. The problem with going as our beloved day, is that you might be mistaken for a sasquatch from warcraft 3 ^^

I'm pretty sure he's about 6'4...
If you saw the picture I posted, it's a "transformer version" with the wings being sort of ear pieces and the rest of her outfit in the raven style. You're right, though, the recognition would be low.
Alexstrasza the dragon with the hottest human form for sure. SkyNet is on it's way to take over the world, but at least I saw that picture before it's all over. :O
What the hell is cosplay? Is that some kind of weird sex shit?
Edit: Okay, I saw the pics. If I dress as Jim Raynor (only better looking because I'm naturally really good looking) and a girl is dressed as Kerrigan, does that mean we have to fuck? How does this work you creepy nerds!
It should more be about what will come out good rather than what would be cool. For example, colossus will be way cooler than scv, but scv will come out better.
In that spirit, you gotta go retro and do valkyrie pilot lol. See if anyone guesses what you are. It will be like that one time where I dressed up as Solid Snake for halloween and only the 7 coolest people at the party knew who I was lol

Yeah man, clearly we're all talking about having a big mass orgy while dressed as our favorite video game characters.
It's like LARPing but with sex instead of "LIGHTNING BOLT!"
Wow. I love Alexstrasza... like seriously. So, ya, instant recognization... but ur like seriously on the skinny side for Alexstrasza. Super hot, nonetheless, but still you'd do a better Kerrigan (Terran version) and also the Baneling one is great.
That kind of reminds me of this, which would be funny, but probably not recognized by most people. The hilarious Queen from this comic: + Show Spoiler +

probe, scv, baneling, zergling... All are cute and smaller creatures that won't be expensive to pull off and bulky. I would vote for the ling from the nerfnow comics. I think a rl of that would be hella awesome.

Actually, what would be hilarious on this note is to dress up like Sean from 6th grade as he describes himself in the famous episode #100. Holy crap that would be funny! EDIT: You could even walk around telling random girls about your killer strategy of going air and hoping that they have no air defense.

Don't forget, cosplaying as female Day9, you have to say "I play games, not guys"
I was actually thinking of cosplaying someday. When I was at PAX East I saw some amazing Mass Effect cosplayers that got me interested in it. But I really can't think of anyone to "be". The catch here is I'm a dude, so that removes 99% of the suggestions here.

Well, the suggestions here might not work for you, but there are definitely more males you can cosplay from most games than females.
Should dress up as an overlord, get wasted. Spin around for a few seconds and proceed to spread creep. Gets even better if you do it with a group of people.

You could be a male ghost? male civilian? egon stettman? horner?
I cosplay as a Dark templar all the time, I just leave a recording of my voice playing in the house telling my girlfriend to come find me, then i go for a beer and watch the hockey game.

Wow, now that you say it, there are endless things I've overlooked.
EDIT: I should totally go as a mutalisk though, ofc.
btw, kudos to anyone that pulls off even a semi-decent kerrigan (zerg) cosplay -- those must take a shit ton of time/money, let alone how annoying and hard it would be to dress up in that on dress day and take it off, and keep it on and together the whole time wherever she was!

I would dread making a queen of blades cosplay. I am ridiculously obsessed with perfecting the details of a costume (while my costumes may not always be made of the best material, etc, I can assure you they are always the most accurate portrayal of the character). I would spend years and soooo much money trying to get her right! Also, I am extremely opposed to doing anything that require bodypaint. Ick.

This is a fantastic post. It contains four elements that I approve of: StarCraft reference, beer, hockey, and humor. Well done.
