Why yes it is a protest thread. But it's also a serious thread for serious botanists.
I've got a spider plant and geranium growing on my bedroom windowsill. I think I've been over-watering the geranium though. As I understand, the two plants need radically different amounts of water. Any tips?

This is a very serious thread and I will be very put off if it is closed.
Please share the plants that you love and water and speak to. <3

Well I'm only really protesting the silliness of having a gun-lust thread with my very own plant-lust thread.
Those sunflowers look amazing. I assume since they are Russian I could plant some in a couple weeks (Easter Canada) and probably have some luck? Do I need to buy seeds online?-I don't think I've ever seen these before

Raise them indoors under 6500K lights, 16-24 hours of light per day, with a fan blowing on them. Don't let them get root bound in their pots. Transplant outside when night temperatures are above 50F. Prepare a deep bed with lots of nutrients and drainage. Make the bed least a half meter deep, a meter deep if you are fucking serious about them like me. Here are last year's babies. + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/axf3b.jpg) Here is the pit I dug for the bed. The soil here is basically clay, so I had to fill in lots of compost, sand, coffee chaff, and peat moss. ![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/QvPMO.jpg)
Holy shit that's some very serious gardening. Thanks for sharing man! Will definitely look into these. Do you have pics of the fully grown flowers?

After seeing this thread I realized that I don't have any plants in my apartment, and I kinda want something. What do you guys suggest I could get for my bedroom windowsill that only needs to be watered daily and left in the sun, but is pretty and doesn't make a mess? I guess I could always ask my mom lol but she tends to go overboard with this sort of thing
|
i saw the gun thread title first then this, i lol'ed.
i've always wanted a back yard fenced with bamboo trees. and if i had acres of land, i'd have a bamboo forest.

I've just killed my cactus - I'm still baffled as to how I pulled that one of, but well, apperantly even a cactus needs water from time to time...

My girlfriend gave me a tulip for Valentine's. It's growing really slowly because the gap between my building and the next one doesn't allow much sun, but it's satisfying to watch it grow.

Although i cuerrntly do not grow any plants when i lived at my parents house a couple years ago we grew a vegtable garden made up of Corn, Summer Sqush, Zuqinni, Green beans, pea pods, carrots, brussel sprots, pumpkins, beats, green pepers, red pepers, yellow pepers, lettuce, and cucumbers. There may have been a couple other plants but i cannot remember right now. :D

I have a florection, NOW CALL ME CRAAZY! umm i dont plan on planting flowers actually, any suggestions on flowers that will actually give me something back besides that gagging in the back of my throat for how much i spent on flowers that don't do shit...
|
Well every fruit you've ever eaten started with a flower, but I think the real reason you're here is to be told you're crazy for having a florection.
You're crazy for having a florection.

![[image loading]](http://www.venusflytrap.co.uk/images/wasp_venus_small.jpg) I've always found carnivorous plants appealing. Not only do the eat pesky bugs but they look hardcore while they do it. I like how they show how brutal nature really is. A Venus Flytrap would probably be my first choice.

Grass. The unspoken hero of the planet. Maybe not a flower but must be considered as the single most awesome plant in the world! I love grass. And by grass I actually mean Grass. The kind Cows eat, the kind that feeds most of the world's faun.
