Will be living in NYC for a while. Won't exactly have a garden for the next several years. I suppose I could raise a cactus on my window sill or something. Not worth it IMO.

I also have inverted tomatoes no the porch. Very low maintenance.
I water them only in the afternoon and they give me 30 or so tomatoes every month.
Good for fast breakfast and snack.

I had some flowers that i planted in like May last year, then i remembered that i lived in Arizona, and then all my flowers practically burst into flames due to the heat. It was fun planting, but they literally lasted like 1 week...

Are there any specific plants which you would reccomend for someone that is quite new?

Would be placed inside my room, in a pot and prefreably small.

I have a Barrel Cactus. I would highly recommend a cactus for a plant; they are unique looking and very easy to take care of (you can forget to water it for 2 months and it will be ok).

Yeah, just like how it's hard to have guns in NYC, it's hard to keep plants

My first plant/tree I ever took care of is young apricot tree like 15 years ago. When we first bought the place for our house there was one wild apricot plant that was so crooked that was growing basicly on the ground.

My father wanted to cut it because of its wierd growing patern but I didnt allow it. It took me 1 year to make it grow straight and now it gives so much fruit that the tree's branches are so low to the ground lol. It gives so much fruit that we can drink home made apricot juice trough the whole year.

We have another apricot tree, 2 peach trees, 2 plum trees, pear tree, 9 grapefruit vines, blackberries and blueberries in the yard. My mom got lots of flowers too but I dont know the names in english lol.

A bunch of ivy and several orchids, mostly white, some maroon. A few small succulents on my desk.

Eventually I would like to grow my own bonsai trees, and/or have a carnivorous plant greenhouse. Specifically one with some Nepenthes.

As to plants, well I got a few at my appartment. Im no expert of any sort but I believe they are some variety of Orkidé. I searched around and they kinda look like this one:

I attempted to grow a bonsai from a seed, but after germinating the seeds and planting them they never grew :/

If I was to attempt to grow something again I'd choose a strong smelling flower, as I hate the choking stench of aerosol-air-fresheners but I also dislike the coldness of opening a window... If anyone could recommend a strong smelling indoor flower to grow I'd be very grateful, as I'm not sure what would work ~_~
