I have recently quit smoking. (1 Month so far) My mother was diagnosed a little over a month ago with Lung Cancer. I just recently found out that if she does not respond well the next round of chemo and radiation she will only have 2 months. =/ No Agenda here, do what you want with the information. It made me quit, in a heartbeat.

If I'm being a debbie downer or just posting something that shouldn't be posted, let me know.

I've actually been thinking about making this post for a while, so don't take it as an attack or anything. I'm sorry about your mom, and I hope she does well.

But here it goes...

On pretty much every page, there's at least one post telling people not to smoke, that they can still quit, or are inconsiderate/stupid for smoking. Frankly, this isn't the place. This has been pointed out before, but I'd like to illustrate it more clearly. Here are the links to posts discouraging smoking.

Now that's 52 posts in less than 22 full pages (as of this update). This list DOES NOT include posts by smokers who mention trying to quit in the past, that they're currently trying to quit, or wish they never started. It doesn't include the disclaimer on the original post or other similar messages within individual posts. It also doesn't include posts discussing proposed warning labels on tobacco (unless the post itself is also explicitly anti-tobacco), or any post quoting the above posts for purposes of discussion.

This is the tobacco smoking thread. For lack of a better comparison, it's a fanclub for tobacco. The pages are littered with anti-smoking messages. This sort of thing wouldn't happen in other fanclubs, and I wish it wouldn't happen here. We know it's addictive. We know it's dangerous. We don't need to be told, and neither does anyone else.

To the people in these posts,
We appreciate the concern, but please stop.

I'll be updating this post as "stop smoking" posts continue to flow in. I'm sure they will.

For the cigar aficianados out there, I'll throw out another vote of confidence in the Oliva Series V -- my go to cigar.They're hands down the best cigar for their price and will stand up to any of the premium cigars like Cohiba Robustos or Montecristo #2's that cost 2-3x as much. However, as Omnipresent pointed out, they are strong and will probably knock you on your ass if you're new to cigars. The Series V does come in mulitple sizes, so you can get a smaller/shorter one to start off with if you want.

Where i work they only allow coffee/lunch breaks(obviously lol) but all the bosses there are smokers,so when i see that they are going for ciggy i can follow em and have a break while i smoke

i am cunning man!

I smoke about 20 gram tobacco a day which is allot. Ive been thinking about quitting for a while now and some posts in this thread have motivated me to stop. Hopefully I will put in an effort in the following weeks. Smoking is expensive and does nothing for you except damaging your health.

I find it would be pretty easy to quit after a weekend drinking. I usually smoke shitloads when Im drunk and my throat hurts alot the next day and I dont even feel like smoking for 3-5 days. Same when Im ill. But still, there has always been something thats dragged me back into smoking.. Maybe one day I can actually do it. D:

Being a former smoker, i did enjoy a good flavored mini-cigar (vanilla) or a shisha pipe (the hookah, you call it), but in terms of pure tobacco consumption, nothing beat a good old ciggarete.

Also was a vivid fan of the "greener" alternative. Although that tends to come with its disadvantages, a couple being you wont be best friends with law enforcement, and you'll be forever bronze leaguer. (Providing you play during the effects :D)

Seriously though, give up dudes. Isnt as hard as you'd think, although you do gain a bit of weight, at least i know i did -_- fuckin podgy belly! :D dont knock you for it though, good times

EDIT: i was a 20 a day at least kinda dude

is canada the only country where the standard is 25 packs of smokes as opposed to 20? whenever i go to America no one knows how to open a canadian pack (you push the bottom).

and to the post above me, i smoke the greener alternative all day and limit my SC2 playing to being high and im diamond, though you could argue id be masters if this was not the case.

he was a cigar smoker though ^^ not cigarettes

but the oldest woman ever (oldest human ever as well) was a cigarette smoker and smoked every day from the age of 21 until she was 117 years old

Yo, it`s never too late to quit, I`ve known tons of people who used to smoke and they quit, a number of them cold turkey. You really just need to want to quit to quit, plus there`s all this nicotine patch shit that makes quitting all the more easier.

I just used a 2L bottle, cut it near the top, and dipped the end in bubble fluid. Shisha works best because it's easier to inhale more smoke, thus bigger bubbles. Happy smoking!!

Just received some Peter Stokkebye Balken Supreme pipe tobacco, it is an extremely good english blend. It is also fairly well priced as it is a bulk blend.

I'm not a big fan of smoking, I get sick and have too much of a head rush if I take more than a drag. Tried dipping too, I can stand some Skoal apple but that's about it. Again too much of a head rush to be pleasurable and a bit messy.

But I love Camel Snus. Any other fans out there? You don't need to spit and you get a pleasant buzz that lasts. Awesome for work and long class days.

There's difference between smoking and smoking... Most people smoke without enjoying it...
After reading the pipe-guide, I know what I want for christmas :D
