Thread is about the various issues surrounding Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. Don't bring the shit side of the internet to the thread, and post with the realization that this thread is very important, and very real, to your fellow members. Do not post speculative and unconfirmed news you saw on TV or anywhere else. Generally the more dramatic it sounds the less likely it's true.

Are they dead for sure? This is so horrible. That's what bbc is saying also, im assuming so. Judging by TV footage of cars/buses/boats being lifted and taken away by the waves, the chance of survival amongst all the rubble and stuff would be fairly low.

There was some crazy footage of a reporter trying to do a report, and the siding of a building came crashing down as they sprinted away, landing right where they were. It was a pure action-movie moment. It seemed like that one building wasn't up to spec, as the ones beside it were ok, and this one was leaning against the two like a drunken sailor, some of it's floors sandwiched.

I've been following the live broadcast for a while now and it just seems to be getting worse judging by the images.

Ive been to the earthquake simulator in tokyo and they simulated the kanto earthquake for us for like 10 seconds. It felt insanely long and terrfiying. Cant even imagine what this felt like :S

Seeing the video with the endless wall of debris you can see cars going along the roads that are swept away. There must be so very many dead that number is refering to those body is found + confirmed to be dead. although there are obviously more (under the debris/mud, etc) of course.
