Thread is about the various issues surrounding Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. Don't bring the shit side of the internet to the thread, and post with the realization that this thread is very important, and very real, to your fellow members.
Do not post speculative and unconfirmed news you saw on TV or anywhere else. Generally the more dramatic it sounds the less likely it's true.
No.. it's not. Please at least read the thread before posting nonsense like this, it doesn't help anyone.
It's been explained time and time again that the Fukushima I reactors are far better designed than the one at Chernobyl. Even if there were a meltdown it will still be contained.
The situation at the moment is not good but it is no where near the level of Chernobyl.
Vic: for a reliable feed go to http://twitter.com/#!/TimeOutTokyo this is where Tokyoites get their info there's a serious radiation leakage right now from plant 1 or 2 i believe
Summary: - 3/4 nuclear power plants that reported a state of emergency are safely shut down. - The remaining plant, Fukushima I, had 4 reactors that experienced problems. - Reactors #1 and #3 are in some level of stability and are being cooled with seawater - Reactor #4 had a fire reported just today, but it has subsequently been put out - Reactor #2 appears to be the only reactor at any nuclear power plant that still has persistent problems

That seems to be correct for now, yes.
I also want to state that I don't have anything to do with the twitter feed that's linked above, even though my nickname is similar.

What does this graph show?
Like a 10% drop in stocks. Part of it is because of the scares that Japan is all but sinking, part of it is because the roads are closed everywhere, phones are down, and companies like Sony and Toyota are currently stopped.

Jesus Christ, if this is true, I am so happy right now. At least, some of what we all waiting for are here. Hope that more good news will come for Japanese people.
