That's the most retarded and worthless simplification ever.
Islam is, in contrast to Christianity which demands spreading of the word, tolerant of other religions. Islam was the first "world" religion to publicly tolerate other religions.

Is it americas fault we have so many religious idiots who know nothing of history or religion?

Lol??
Try showing your freedom of religion over in some predominantly Muslim country.

Indonesia? yes there are some bad things that happened to the minorities, but this kind of events happen in all places including your land of the free USA, and keep in mind even Iran have a Jewish population.

Religious minorities are somewhat tolerated in Muslim countries. However, if a Muslim converts to any other religion, they are usually threatened with death if they do not recant.

Comparing Muslim civil rights and Christian(or any other religion, really) civil rights, and saying they are equal is pretty much the biggest joke of all time, and if you are really serious, then no, you know nothing of what goes on in Muslim countries. I also edited my original post, and maybe you didn't see it in time.

Non-Muslims are tolerated in Muslim countries, but they are definitely discriminated against because of their religion...discrimination that is blatantly illegal in the rest of the civilized world. For crying aloud, you are comparing the civil rights of countries where adultery can get you stoned to death BY LAW.....to the US......really?

If you know anything about the Koran, you would know that it is very tolerant. People that are intolerant or refuse change are what you call extremists. If they threatened to kill him, they are extremists. pure and simple and do not reflect the religion. Interesting fact you should keep in mind, in Islam, you go to heaven whether you are Muslim, Christian or Jewish.
When you live in a society that isnt open to change (which the Koran promotes changes BTW) it is inevitable that people will have a different mentality.
Don't call a religion intolerant based hear say or what you see on FOX

Try showing your freedom of religion over in some predominantly Muslim country. Or better put, and much more telling. Try publicly converting from an Muslim to "X" religion in a predominantly Muslim country, and tell me how tolerant they are.
Then come back to the US or Europe, and publicly convert from a Christian to a Muslim. See which of the two you survive.
I know this because a good friend of mine converted to Christianity from Islam, and his family threatened to kill him if he didn't renounce it and go back. And this was even over in America.......over in the Middle East, he probably would be dead or on the run.

Extremists? They have entire countries over there that supposedly follow the laws of the Koran. And do wonderful things like stoning adulterers and rape victims, and slitting throats of people who convert from Islam. And I think they study the Koran more than you do.

And for crying aloud....I don't think I've ever watched Fox news. Nor do I think you have EVER studied the Koran, you're just repeating bs from your 100% truthful news source.

So sad... and so heartwarming at the same time. If dogs can be so faithful and love so much, why can't humans?

If this is true, how could a Muslim ever convert someone to their religion?? I think you're probably incorrect here... it doesn't make sense for a religion to say that just because someone believes in something that they are going to heaven.

I'd really like to see a source for this, because logic tells me that it's wrong.

Sorry to clutter up this epic thread with this, but seriously, you are seem to have quite a wrong opinion on the islam. Read Quran 9.5 and 9.29 and following and you'll shit bricks. Now compare that a guy who completely disapproved of violence and told his followers to spread the word (jesus) with Mohammed who was a military leader actively fighting other religious groups once he did not need them any more for his cause.

Islam today is a different story, but the original Islam was not "the first world religion to publicly tolerate other religions". It is most probably Buddhism, but I'm not sure on that one
