The problem with random street fights is that you don't know if the guy is carrying a knife, a gun or has like 20 boys in the back thats going to sucker punch you out and then play hide the beer bottle over your unconscious body.
I've use to get into fights back in school but kids with noodle arms don't really have any knockout power so it was basically 2 guys, 1 arm holding the other guys shirt and right arm swinging hay makers that missed 9/10 times.
After school I've been in like 2 fights with muggers who asked me for my money..but they didn't produce a weapon or threaten me with anything weapon. Both situation resulted in rolling wrestling matches on the ground.
The most recent time happened outside my house these student who live near me caused some trouble, I called them some names so they became confrontational and aggressive. The first thing I did was back off and look for this brick that I knew I had as a gate stopper but for some reason that night.. it wasn't there..(lol?) anyway my other neighbors came out after nearing the commotion threaten to call the police, realizing that we all knew where every1 lived..the situation was defused.
On a side note:
As comical as Bas is.. so much of is practical advice.
Violence never solved any problems and there is no shame in running, if talking doesn't help.
Our primal instincts tell us to fight, if we could solve a problem either quickly by fighting or slowly by talking, but those primal instincts are about 3 million years old... and who listens to those senile, crazy old guys.
I got into a few situations which could have become fights but resolved all of them by just staying calm, no matter how angry the other person was.
Luckily in germany getting robbed is not very common, but even in that case i'd rather give them a few bucks than fight and ultimatly lose because either he is not alone or he is armed with a knife - though i would try talking to him/them first, i strongly believe there is always a peaceful solution if you are friendly and understanding of their problems.
No, I have never actually been in a fight. I'm not afraid of getting my ass kicked or kicking ass, but the opportunity never came up. There have only been 3 times I've ever come close to getting in a fight The first was punching a friend in the face after he slapped by back in the locker room. If that has happened to anyone else, then you know that shit is painful as hell. That was the 3rd time that day and I had just about enough. Punched him in the jaw and he backed off.
Second time was, again, with another friend. I don't remember what the hell the arguing was about, but I swung at him and stopped myself before hitting him cause we were good friends. I know the argument was something stupid, but I can't remember what.
The 3rd time I almost got into a fight was with some douchebag in high school that thought he was the shit. He was black and I'm white. He would insult me everyday because of me being white and then everyday after school proceed to ask me for a ride home because he knew I had a car. I told him to fuck off every day, but one day, he got pissed and backed me up onto a wall in the hallway when I told him to fuck off. I grabbed his shirt, spun him around and shoved him up against the wall while holding him down by the throat with my forearm and hreatened him with a "Do that one more time and see how your face ends up." He never talked to me again after that. Quite pathetic as he was twice my size, but just a bitch.
Pro tip: formal martial arts doesn't do shit in a street fight. If you get hit by three guys or even just one with a knife you're not going to karate your way out of it.
TL definitely needs to start it's own fight club, just like the movie "fight club", except here they will pit angry/raging/terrible posters against each other to fight to the death, that way there will be less of them, and I can be entertained at the same time, casted by our favs like Day9 and incontrol etc...
Fight 1 (was around 16): 3 small guys against me (retards)... Grabbed one and hit his head to a wall, slammed the other to the groud, the 3d just ran away.
Fight 2 (was around 18): Big old school bulli finnaly oversteps the line.. First he sends one of his "slaves" to hit me, this guy to this day has no strait teeth from the one hit he became as an answer :p. Then the big one comes while i was walking/running away catching up to me by the stairs... I Headbut him, he tumbles a little down and smashes his head into a Door :D.. He had to see a doctor ^^ (nothing serious, just lots of blood from the door).
Fight 3 (was around 22): Some guy punches my brother (group of oi-skins). Some small brawling ensues between a friend and the guy that hit my brother (i noticed it just then), we sepereate them and while getting up the other guy kicks my friend in the head (we held them both)... I get sight of the guy that now hit my brother and my friend for no reason... I laugh at him.. he comes, gives me a headbut.. I grab his had, smash it into a guitar-monitor (i swear that thing moved..), chokeslam him to the ground, mount him and just punch his face while being kicked by some of his friends (as i was told, i didn't feel that, i just wanted to smash face and was annoyed that he had his hands in the way of my fury)... Then it gets cleared up and the others drag their friend out while we are allowed to party on... Victory Shots :D.
Fight 4 (was 26): 2 guys wanted to Rob me... One held my back, i can grab the one in front of me, punch him, scramble free and run... Nasty cut over my left eye... Probably from something more than his fist but i don't remember that exactly, well, didn't lose my money or anything.
Fight 5 (was 26, 1-2 months later). Notice someone catching up to me, smack, i'm on the ground trying to defend me but it's to late, i'm robbed... But they didn't get my phone/keys so it wasn't that bad. 3 Days later i had my Cards/ID's again, the police found them.
Some guy started shit talking to me on a bus.So when we got out, he started coming towards me like with that " What? You got something to say?" look... So I swung back a little and threw the most predictable but also the most powerful punch I could. Hit his jaw. (For some reason he was confident enough that he was trying to block my punch with his face). He fell down and started to twitch...bad... His friend picked him up and tried to "resurrect" him.
I got in a couple of fights earlier in life but in that moment...when I saw him twitching like that...I was so shocked, that I knew I would never get in fights again. Was literally shivering for a couple of hours...
Ive took martial arts for 5 years and I don't really think that gives me any real advantage in any sort of fight at all but its more of a basis to feel comfortable in a fight and a basic feel for your fighting style because when shit goes down the rules are gone and letting up on someone can mean you get beat down that said ive been a few fights most of them were stupid and petty and I never really was an antagonist in most of them ( no real use in trying to start a fight with people its rather childish I can't say I haven't been a cause in all of them though ).
once I was walking home from highschool and me and a friend stopped at the subway on the way and got sandwhichs as we were near his house to chill and play some video games a kid (about 200 or so pounds) yelled "SUBWAY SUCKS" and I kind of shot my mouth off saying something along the lines of that doesn't surprise me to the least chubbs and he turned around and took a shot at the back of my head I don't remember exactly what happened I just know I kneed him in the stomache and uppercutted him and he was on the floor crying after that I gave helped him get off the floor then walked away to go eat food
and once I got hit in the back of the head by a bat by this mexican kids friends then repeatedly hit whislt I was on the floor because I convinced his gf to break up with him because he was abusive, after the hit to the head I stumbled and almost blacked out but as I came back to I was in fetal position being hit by these 2 guys and I kicked one kid as hard as possible in the genitals he dropped his bat on me I think it caught his friend off guard because he stopped hitting me long enough to roll away with the bat and I think I said something along the lines of you made your point you're such a fucking tough guy as I started to back away, he kind of charged me and I used the bat kind of like a lance so to speak which knocked the breath out of him but he also hit me in the head again, more closer to the neck after that I backed away the kid I kicked just watched me back away and his friend was catching his breath and that was the end of it, I never walked home with headphones on again only earphones with one ear in. the depressing part is they broke my Sennheisers I think they were HD25's which I just left there since they were smashed in half, I had to get stitches in my upper lip I bit threw my lower lip the back of my head and my templish area I have pictures of how fucked up and swollen I was not a good experience, Although some friends of mine jumped them 4 days later because they were going around talking about how they fucked me up so bad and such I didn't go back to school for a week and half or so didn't really know it nor was I really happy about it (I don't like others fighting a battle they werent really involved in) I also don't know how bad they got hurt in the fight I did end up fighting the original abusive kid a few weeks later because of spite.
EDIT: oh wow didn't realize this was this long but thought I should note that after the fight with the abusive douche that was the last fight ive been in for the past 3-4 years or so i prefer it this way lol but even so its nice to know I can handle myself when the situation arises I can probably post pictures of my mashed up face by request it could also serve the purpose to show that fighting isn't really worth it (you wont always win)

Agree. I've done various types of martial arts for a total of...6 years or so...and I try my best to avoid any possible fights. They are really dangerous, you can't be sure if the other person has rules or not, you CAN die too if something goes bad. No point to get in a fight today in modern society...not to mention the legal implications.
Real fights never have rules. If its serious enough to fight about, its serious enough to throw all the rules out.
The best martial art to know is combat shooting. This is the only martial art that 100% of the world's militaries practice. To make your combat shooting effective, one has to also learn weapon retention (obviously), extreme close quarters hand to hand, and grappling. Unarmed knife defense knowledge is also very necessary to have.
You arn't invincible if you know these, but you will be much more well off then you would otherwise be.
No one ever messed with me. Not because I was big and intimidating. But because I'm so small and frail. People always told me that they'd feel too bad if they ever hit me.

They kicked the shit out of us, both of us were hospitalised for 2weeks. It was pretty serious. Although it wasnt much of a fight, as they punched me in the back of the head, smashed my face into a brick wall and I was pretty much unconcious at that point.
Other than that, one time at a movie a guy would not shut the fuck up. (sin city actually). When I turned and told him to shut up, he starting laughing and then proceeded to throw shit at me throughout the movie. At the end of the movie, I saw him outside and hit him 3 times after he took the first swing. He started to cry, and heave like he was going to puke. hahahahaha. I guess that wasnt much of a fight either, but it is a favorite among me and my buddies.
Some time ago I was with my gf returning from a party. Pretty late at night, some beer in the blood. Was joking about the global warming and how cars are destroying our planet (lulz). Well the joke goes on and for the sake of the fun me and my gf we started to hit the wheel (very gently) and saying bad words... well somekind of trip. Then I hit the wheel of a truck (LIKE THE WHEEL WAS BIGGER THAN ME, WTF), and a guy came out from a car. It was his "daddy's car" so he was pretty pissed. Pluss I have to add that I knew the guy in question, I humiliated him during school days (he was/is a moron, certainly gona kill him someday). So the guy was looking for some kind of revenge from 10 years ago, he started to push me, a little fight fallow. Since I was with my gf and was pretty drunk, I just did not defend myself and tried to restrein him. Well, i got a black eye and finally restrein him, the police passed by and I lost the night at their office.
I nearly got in a fight at one point in my life... Actually, I was not trained in martial arts or any type of fighting, so I just did the cheap thing where you pretended to go for the face and punch the stomach. Then I ran for it :D
You are lucky guy that you havent been in fight. Well here in Bratislava its kind of hard to not get in to the fight when you are in bar or at some event. a lot of guys want to just kick your ass for nothing. Last time i get to the fight it was 3-4mounths ago. it was 2am and we were going home from billiard club with 2 friends and some girls, but there were some drunks and they just yelled at us what are we laughing at and they wanted to kick our asses. well it was really fast probably cause they were SO wasted K.O after 1st hit. I really hate people who wants to fight you when you have there girls with you. Its nothing special when drunk guys want to fight here :x
I used to fight all of the time during junior high and highschool, but since i've realised that it is friggen dangerous and that i really shouldn't do it anymore. I went to a school in Millwoods (also known as 'browntown') in which a good majority of the population was/is brown. As a white kid who was friends with most of the native/african american guys, i was basically thrust into the middle of racial turmoil that i would rather have not dealt with.
The most memorable both happened with the same guy. Basically, one day he came up to me and my friends and started throwing out explatives from the n-word through basically every other word you can throw out their while telling racial jokes of bad taste, as you can guess. I called him out, called him a douche, and basically told him he better stop or else.... to which he laughed and said he'd stop if i fought him. So i did.
The fight was uneventful and got broken up by a teacher after we both landed one or two hits. We were about 14 so we couldn't really inflict too much damage. Other than that, my principle told me that i was a stand up citizen while he suspended me.
About two years after that, the same guy was following us around because all of his friends apparently realized he was a tool and ditched him. As you can guess, there was still some bad blood on my part and I decided to get a little mouthy. I ended up telling him to go suck his moms' penis because we wanted nothing to do with him. He got all pissy, we both puffed up our shoulders up in peacock-esque display and he eventually backed down. I then turned around, and started to walk away and the bastard sucker punched me. I then turned around and popped him in the face twice, and then i just remember being pulled off by my massive gym teacher.
I actually didn't even get suspended the second time, only an inschool suspension for my "use of language" while the other guy got expelled.
I am proud of those two, but I actually fought quite a few more times that i am much less proud of. I am glad i left that aggressive side of me behind, to say the least.
I've been in a few fights but nothing serious. Although a few retarded people have threatened me with knives and shit before, like one time in HS I had a cooking class and we made some kind of chocolate cake, so I was carrying it around the whole day and some kid pulled out a knife and told me to give him some. I refused, and then the teacher came into our classroom and told us both to sit-down (which we did)... I wonder if he'd have stabbed me for it.

What he said.
Combat shooting, QCB, and stress inoculation so you don't freeze.
