Hell I heard a story once about a guy who was pushed down and was being kicked by two guys, he grabbed the foot of one of them and twisted his heel until it broke (very fast hes good at BJJ) the guy fell to the ground screaming in pain, the other guy was kicking him he pulled guard sweeped him and choked him out, left a guy unconscious and the other unable to get up with a broken heel. I believe it to be 100% legit, as I heard way more insane stories. I don't think this is entirely true. Look at UFC, most of the all time dominant competitors have strong, strong wrestling. It is just necessary. Yes, wrestling does not emphasize doing damage at all. But you absolutely have to have it because its all about control. I've witness countless college fights (wrestlers seeking out martial artists) and someone with strong wrestling will just be in control of the fight the whole time. I'll admit BJJ is very important in a well-rounded fighter. But if you have to pick one or the other, Wrestling is going to help the most by far.

The guy chokes me out of nowhere. My friend notices and brings his buddies to break it up. Turns out he went to school with him before uni and had gotten into fights with him before. Suddenly everything went from im gonna break ur face with my friends to we're cool. Afterwards the bully and I re-met outside and he commented about what had happened and wanted a handshake. I shook his hand and told him the only reason he didn't fight was cuz I wasn't outnumbered (I have a bad track record of being provocative when tipsy :/ ). He imediately throws a punch at MY NECK (wtf?!?). I'm 1.92m and like 95kg, he was more like 1.80? Anyways, I barely moved and just laughed, and it ended there. It was fucking stupid of me to do that though, since it would've dragged basically 8 people into a fight. People were really agressive in that city overall.

ALOT of these fights seem like Movie Fights (ie. I don't believe half of them). Been in 1 or 2 street fights. They NEVER were 1 on 1... always 2 on 3 etc. They ALWAYS involved weapons... And people trained in Martial Arts?!? HUH? You hit the person in the face one time with a chain wrapped hand and RUN when they are on the ground BEFORE Cops get there.... Thats how real fights are. No stupid glorified "dodging" and bully stupidity.

I've never really been in a 'fight' except when I was a kid. Closest I came to one was when some shifty looking guys tried to talk to me and my mate across the street; we realise now to distract us while 2 of his mates went round to try and cut us off. We were both 18 at the time and just come back from football training so were knackered. Once I realised what was going on I said to my mate "we should run" and that's exactly what we did. The entire group of 6-7 chased after us but we outpaced them (it's amazing how fast you can run when it's out of fear) and don't regret doing so. If violence can be avoided, if even it means losing face, then apsoloutely do it. It's almost never worth going into a fight, because even if you were to come out on top, psychos remember and certaintly don't have anything better to do with their lives.

You need to understand all wrestlers in the UFC train BJJ so they can have sub defense, even if you dont call it BJJ, training sub defense requires knowledge of the subs. look at UFC 1 2 and 3 to see what a street fight looks like.

Some little freshman comes on my bus looking to fight my friend. I stand up for him and tell the kid to sit the fuck down. He asks me if I "want to get stuck in my shit". I tell him to swing first and we'll see what happens. He comes at me and his friends hold him back telling him to wait until we get off the bus. We get off the bus he sucker punches me in the eye. I know I have a huge black eye but I suck it up and started laughing at him and told him he punches like a girl. He punched me twice in the temple and I say "dude if your going to beat me up at least make it worth my time." he tackles me and I go down and my shoe falls off. As I'm on the ground I just scope out my shoe and put it back on while he punches me in the back of the head repeatability I stand up, look at him and tell him that it was a huge waste of time and that next time he gets in a fight he should try to hurt the other person. He runs off crying (he had about 6 friends with him so I wasn't going to punch him and risk having 6 other people beating me up). I walk home and call my friend that I was standing up for and we laugh about it. This was all recorded on one of the other kids phones. He preceded to show the whole school and the kid that hit me was humiliated due to the fact that I didn't even feel fazed.. Another one in 6th grade, some kid calls my friend fat like every day for about 2 weeks. One day he makes my friend cry so I go up to him and punch him in the temple 3 times and push him down and kick him in the head. I'll never get in a fight again, they are so primitive and stupid. Anger is just childish...

I live in a beautiful suburb and it's a pretty small town and when two boys or MEN have a problem they handle it one on one without any pussy weapon b.s. anything otherwise and the offender is usually either jumped or seen as a pussy. Sometimes we get out of towners from the city and they come with their knives and other shit and usually get stomped even then because it's usually the guy least capable of fighting or defending him self that grabs for some other "upper hand".

You think submission wrestling or shoot wrestling has no submissions? BJJ isn't the only art in the world with subs. Knowing not to put your arm out for an armbar doesn't mean you learned BJJ, or have good jits. You want to talk about the UFC and wrestling vs BJJ? Lets see, co-founded by a BJJ player. Wrestling shoes disallowed because they might be used as weapons, but GI's are allowed? If UFC 1 was nogi like the UFC today is, Shamrock would have won by heelhook. UFC 2 Shamrock didn't compete because he had a broken hand. UFC 3 Shamrock made it to the finals and Gracie didn't make it, so Ken quit. UFC 4 Shamrock was in japan beating up people. One of whom was later a UFC Heavyweight Champ that took Randy Couture (another wrestler) to beat. UFC 5 Shamrock v Gracie rematch. Shamrock beats the ever living shit out of Gracie. There is no denying that a person needs some form of ground skills to have a complete package in self defense. Ground skills are a necessity, it can't be stressed enough. BJJ is hardly the best or most effective. It is one option among many. I like it for attacks from the bottom, and BJJ fighters are definitely more comfortable off the back, but from the top wrestling is definitely superior.

Hah, plenty of 1v1 fights happen bro. i've had a problem with getting into fights but i've stopped since i went to law school. i've only been in ONE rumble that was 4v4, and everything else was me versus another person (and in one case me versus a few other people). in backwards chronological order 1.) up in boston i was in a convertible driving to get food at 2am while wasted. my friend was driving my car b/c i was drunk. some guy in a bmw in front of me with CT plates (obviously a tool) tries to pick up some girl on the side of the road, but she denies him. so at the next stop light i'm joking to my friend about how that girl was probably like "faggggotttt" (which I said kind of loud). dude gets out of his car and is like who called me a faggot. i was like nobody man, get back into your car. he comes over like he's gonna kick my car or sucker punch my friend on the driver's side, so i get out of the car and say "you know what? i called you a faggot. now get back in your fucking car." he starts walking over to me without saying anything so i'm like ok time to throw down. i tackle him and start punching his face in until he's starting to bleed at which point i hop back into the car and bounce b/c it was on a fairly popular street and i was afraid of cops rolling by. 2.) boston again. some enormous like 6'5 bro talks shit to all of my friends as he walks past us in chinatown (we were going to a loft party down there). i call him out and tell him to turn around and do something about it so he turns around and starts walking back. once again, i tackle the guy, but this time his head fell into a bike on a bike rack, and he slices the back of his head open on a clipped pedal for a fixed gear. i didn't realize it though, so i smash his face in for a bit until my friends pull me off after seeing blood on the ground. they get him in a cab to a hospital while i go for a walk to avoid any cops that might show up. 3.) boston. kid talks shit to me and my friends outside of the 7-11 in brigham circle. he's drunk, and calls one of my friends a nigger to his face, at which point i react before my friend does and go with the usual 1.) tackle 2.) punch face in. I get pulled off of him and the kids stumbles into the street and almost gets hit by a car. however, he gets the last laugh because he had a hot dog he had just heated up via a microwave in the 7-11 that he somehow burned my neck with lmao. there's still a really faint scar there to this day that you can see if you look closely enough. 4.) boston. actually all of my cool fight stories have really been in boston, where i went to undergrad. the highschool ones were kinda lame and not worth talking about. anyway this one was right next to fenway park. 3 really big bros were walking me and 3 of my friends. one of my friends yells at them saying "sweet north face jackets, does peter north cum on your face??" one of them turns around super fucking pissed, and i assume he's just going to deck one of us with the first punch, so i figure not to let it be me and just decide to punch him first myself. he was yellling "im' a fuckin bouncer you don't want to fuck with me" as he was coming over, but i was like whatever it's 4v3 we got this. anyway, i punch him and we start to fight, and it's pretty straight up for a second until his friends jump in. that's when my friends... oh wait, they ppussy the fuck out and don't do anything at this point, except for one friend who just starts trying to pull them off of me. i kinda get my ass kicked a little bit but no damage other than a fat lip and black eye. the 2 kids that didn't do shit were actually more friends of a friend to begin with, but after that point i never talked to those kids again. only fight i ever lost, but it was 1v3 and whatever i sorta had it ocming. i should've let that kid stick up for himself, especially since he started it.
