K, the 598's arrived a day early, so I left work a bit early to grab them from the leasing office, lol.
It's been awhile since I used a good pair of headphones. Holy wow. Sound quality is amazing, I can hear so much more that it feels like I'm listening to music in slow motion.
We'll have to see tomorrow at work, but it seems like they aren't too noisy.

Hey guys!
I am looking to invest in some headphones for my team at work, but we obviously have a limited budget. We would be looking for headphones that have a decent noise blocking capability, at a price of around 50-60€ (I know, I'm cheap ) I know you guys always have the perfect solution so I naturally thought I'd come ask here before I even go to a store! Thanks in advance :D

Was toying with the idea of upgrading my IEMs (currently using shure se215) with my tax refund so I was hunting around on craigslist. Found a pair of Shure se846 for ~800 (i absolutely adore these, but dont think I can bring myself to spend that much) but then I also found a pair of AKG k3003 for $250, which is much more in my price range and if I'm not mistaken an absolutely insane steal. If these are legit should I go for it? Anything specific to check for?

As a Focal fan I finally made myself to buy Focal Spirit Classic headphones. Overall I expected them to be a bit more comfortable, but after some time you get used to them. Sound quality is great as expected, although maybe are a bit lacking on the bass side.

Why is the sound quality out of my phone way better than the sound out of my work desktop (streaming from the same source) and how can I fix it? (headphone amp?)

you would need a DAC or a new soundcard DAC is a pretty easy solution if you're willing to spend some money Amp wouldn't really help though unless your computer has problems driving your headphone
I dislike how my computer sounds too and prefer listening to my mp3 or my iphone

Window audio drivers haven't been an issue since windows XP. It's most likely not the issue.

Headphones are Shure SE215's

Where do I start looking for headphones? I need a new set for listening to music at my desk.

I'd start here and pick full size open/sealed and go from there. Leave some budget room for an external amp/dac and you'll be good to go. Head-fi is also a decent resource with a very large community. http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/innerfidelitys-wall-fame

That wall is pretty old. I'm a bit rustier in new headphones but I can help out if you tell us what you're looking for? Browsing r/headphones gives a good amount of info. In a vacuum I would recommend the Bose QXC35 or Sennheiser PXC550.

i think you're confusing great headphones that were released years ago but still in production like the HD600 if you actually look at the list, some of them have been released this year like the Focal Utopia

I'm not certain what I'm looking for yet. I definitely don't expect to purchase anything at audiophile grade. Most of what I will be listening to will be mp3 or streaming formats. I'm after a "good" headphone, but I don't know what a good headphone is because I haven't done the research. I don't want to lay out 100's and find that I paid for branding instead of quality, for example.
The HD600 caught my attention from the open list so far. I'm questioning whether I will need or want an amp, since I'm worried that quality improvements will be most noticeable only with top shelf amps.

His other sections are a lot better. They should also hide the retired headphones behind a spoiler tag or something, I'm not a fan of his layout

I would advise running the HD600 with an amp.
You don't need a "high-end" amp for it. Anything reasonably clean is sufficient, e.g. O2, entry level schiit, what have you.

I was looking to get a new pair of headphones since my hd558 are starting to get wore down. I'm definitely looking to invest more money into my audio setup, but I'm not sure where to start.

you can upgrade source (flac), DAC, amp, headphone head-fi has a ton of info, also i like using innerfidelity and headfonia for reviews

Well my headphones are just getting worn out. I already have a huge library of FLAC music on my hard drive, I'm looking to upgrade from the HD 558 into someone better. There's just a lot out there, so I'm not sure where to narrow it down.

HD600 or HD650 with a decent entry level amp, no external DAC is probable next step in your upgrade path.
