I dunno, maybe changing the light bulb of the lighting beacon? omg fuck that make that lighting beacon a LED leave it up there for years fuck that or let planes hit it
I'm still curious how the hell did they build that thing so tall and skinny. it's not like they can build it on it's side and just tilt it up to the right position.

How do you even recruit someone for this job? "Wanted: Someone who will ride an elevator 1600 feet into the air, and then climb a ladder, unassisted, 168 feet to repair carrying a 30 pound bag dangling from you."
Seriously, who would sign up for this/train for this?

The thing that scares me the most isn't the climb up, it's the climb down. Climbing up you can latch on a safety at intervals. You got no such safety climbing down. And to have to look down the entire time as you're doing it? That's just crazy. I agree with what one of the other guys said. Climb up and Base Jump down.

OSHA standards permit "free climbing", damn

I'll admit... its pretty scary... I bet he's ripped though.

I'd have a mother fucking parachute! I would guess that they do have parachutes.
At the end, the guy looks down and you can see his climbing partner. He doesn't appear to have on a parachute, but a harness instead.

thats what girls have to go through when they ride me ... im just sayin... lol

God damn. You could strap a duffel bag with a million dollars in cash to the top of that tower, and I would not climb up to get it. No way.

The tower is held up by a bunch of steel cords pulling on each other that have a LOT of tension--there was some show on the History Channel where a single one snapped and the whole tower snapped really really really fast.
These guys have BALLS of STEEL. Imagine how much it must cost for their insurance

How do they build those things?
Oh whoops repost.

The worst part isnt the climbing, the worst part is when he´s up there O_O
Also, a part of me wants to see a video of someone falling from up there. Or, more like, I want to see a video of them dropping a camera attached to a dummy from up there. That would be really freaky!

Wow . . . that made me so sick to my stomach watching it.

yawn... so the guy works on top of a tower. Guess what, so did two million and one guy before him. It doesn't matter if you fall from 50, 100, 500 or 2000 feet, you are dead anyway. Man, even I have worked at a "deadly height".Just watch your step and stay alert. Sure, it's dangerous but it's not a huge deal. Many slaters and scaffolders deal with the danger of falling to their deaths every day.
|
for anything less than a million berkshire hathaway stocks, i wouldnt climb that.
|
I think I wouldn't be able to climb that as fast as that guy did. But I think I could do it if it meant I would be set for life. It's not that dangerous if you think about it, you just need to take it slow and be very careful. But then again if it's really windy it might be a different story.

was hyperventilating one minute in.
pissed my pants by the end.

hardass alert, internet tough guy is in the thread guys, put on your big boy pants and use your deep voices now.
anyways- this video seems to be popping up on a bunch of forums and i am deathly afraid of heights, but for some reason i like that feeling at the same time... this video feels like a mental rollercoaster i couldnt look away and i couldnt close it for the life of me.

I just thought of a great freshman initiation.
Imagine if the worker's boss told him, that light bulb you installed yesterday was 100 watt, not an energy saving fluorescent. Go back and do it right.

uh that job is way better than being a secretary secretary is a scarier job than climbing a tower
this guy gets laid secretaries don't get laid
they definitely need to make that batman device so he can just shoot up to the top of the tower instead of climbing

I got scared just watching that...
