The others don't work and aren't very clever, but I don't know how to argue with this one. You could have instantaneous morse code with it. There must be something wrong here.....

For example, if the earth were to suddenly disappear, the moon would still move as if the earth was still gravitationally pulling it for a few seconds because the change in gravity takes that long to propogate through the space separating them.

Or we just say that the Earth is always rotating, and always in orbit, so it would be impossible. But yeah, it wouldn't be instant.

If you move the stick, like push it or pull on it, wouldn't that count as a sound transmission? Sound will travel very fast in sold objects, but it will be far from the speed of light. Now heres a hypothetical one for you: E=mc^2, so you can change energy to mass and vice versa. Say you invented a machine that can freely translate between the two. You take a rock, convert it to energy, and beam it via lasers into space. In space you have a satellite with the same machine that converts the energy back into a rock. The satellite drops the rock and you harvest the falling potential energy, using things like paddel wheels or whatever. The rock reaches the ground finally, where the first machine beams it back into space. Free energy? I want someone to make a troll physics comic of this, lol. There is a solution to the paradox that I learned from a physics class, but its more fun if you didn't know.

I know vibrations wouldn't be instant. I meant like if the stick is rigid you could do back and forth communication. And I know there must be something wrong with that but I take it it's hard to explain. Sorry I should post a pic

An easy way to imagine it is to think about sound, it moves at ~700mph, and its basically a compression wave moving through air molecules. The poking of the stick is the same concept, except it's a compression wave moving through stick molecules, it probably moves a bit faster, but it's certainly not anywhere near instant of light speed.

I know vibrations wouldn't be instant. I meant like if the stick is rigid you could do back and forth communication. And I know there must be something wrong with that but I take it it's hard to explain. When you push the stick, you are pushing the atoms which pushes atoms further down the pole. Each atom is connected to another atom by something like rigid springs. On a small scale, the springs propagate the movement really fast, but there is a finite speed. Tapping on the pole to produce a sound should be bounded by the same principal, therefore the signal should propagate at exactly the speed of sound in the solid object. Also another cute zerg pic:
