It's a very well crafted suspense movie, and Stealth gets the core of the meaning, if not the entire thing. The people who are repeatedly posting idiotic things like, "I get the movie, but the aliens were stupid!" obviously don't get it at all.

the message of the movie was that a bunch of weird coincidences in the movie mean that there is a god. my response to the movie was, well gee, no coincidences like that in reality, so wtf :| water kills aliens, the girl likes to leave glasses of water around, the mother's last words were "swing" or whatever, and then there's a baseball bat nearby! oh what a religious experience! now i can swing the baseball bat and break the glasses of water to kill the aliens! thank god!

STIMEY, tell me you're not really this fucking stupid. Nevermind, the fact that you broke the entire movie down into snide, sarcastic little snippets shows you really didn't get it.

It's not about God. It's not about Aliens. It's one person's view of what faith really is. Shyamalan is trying to say the blind faith is no faith. To simply believe something because a book tells you to, or because you parents did, is not real faith. That's why Mel's character loses his faith, because it's not real. From there, he tells us that the world isn't made up of random coincidences, and that everything happens for a particular reason.

Whether you believe this or not is one thing, but to simply dismiss it and say the movie sucks because you didn't believe the filler story about Aliens is ridiculous.

MNS just added the cornfields for suspense crop circles usually happen in what fields etc but not corn, you try bending a corn stalk without it breaking

at the end, mel gets his faith back, because of all those gay coincidences ... all of the gay coincidences that were shoved into the movie to build up to the "surprise ending" -- you're trying to read a better message from a movie that has a much more moronic one (as evidenced in the ending). you accusing me of saying the movie sucks because of a filler story about aliens just shows you are unable to comprehend my previous post, and you're calling me stupid because you think i'm wrong (when you are).

guy has lost his faith. a bunch of retarded miracles happen. guy gets his faith back. <-- this is the movie ok? wtf does that have to do with aliens.

The Aliens I think are a fear of which me may think seldom(or nvr) but the idea being dragged out of your home in the middle of the night by unknown beings strikes fear into the human heart.
