There are solid rules to the English language, as well as bendable ones. One of the solid rules is that "U R" is NOT proper english. It's used out of laziness, because the letters "U" and "R" sound like "You" and "Are". This is SLANG. Slang is NOT proper english. Please get your info straight before argueing ![]()

I try to let girls a bit more slack on this though. btw: can't is an english contraction following the rules of contractions "U R" is neither an abbreviation (you starts with a Y and are with A) nor a contraction without the apostrophe and being two separate characters as well. I am intolerent to this stupid form of abbreviating because it is not part of the english language. If you want to speak a bit of "english", speak it. If you want to speak "stupid", go kill yourself.

But i would like to point out, i never once called you a moron or stupid idiot (which i felt compelled to do but avoided)... the argument was soley your perogative. A DEBATE was started when i thought using a contraction was hypocritical (which was an opinion, and i was flamed for defending it). Later i added, you both use the same abbreviations that we all do. On that matter i know you guys started brewing in your seats for getting shut down. You both avoided being truthful, and you even thought the "hahahaha" comment really dodged the truth. Anyone that commonly uses AIM/Bnet/MSN on this forum uses these online abbreviations fairly often without a doubt, hence making you a hypocrite on some level. And like Trance said, overuse and childlike use, is annoying. But i rarely encounter it, and if i do, i avoid the conversation completely.

I'd like to point out exactly what made me angry, using this post. First, the comment "all threads get nitpicked on the web". That has nothing to do with anything. It's really just an excuse for nitpicking. "It happens everywhere so I can do it here". Second, the part where you say you didn't call me an idiot, but wanted to. That is EXACTLY the same thing as saying "I didn't call you an idiot, but you are." Third, You called me untruthful. You have no grounds to say anything like this, and it's insulting. Last, saying something vague like "Makes you a hypocrite on some level" deteriorates the validity of your own arguement. These little innuendos in your "Well-meaning" posts do not go unnoticed. I'm not sure if you mean to to this or not, but it will anger most everyone who notices. By the way, please note that this is NOT a flame, as Im' almost completely sure you don't mean anything by these comments. As for calling you untruthful.. that was my attack at you. I would be hardpressed to find one web regular that doesnt use online abbreviations. And you specifically said i use "hahahaha" which was a dodge around the truth. Then you admitted to saying you did use LOL rarely.. and thats all i ever needed or wanted to know (because it doesnt stop at lol, you have probably used btw, brb, wtf, stfu..). It wasnt meant to be insulting at that point, cause i do it to... I really thought this was at an end. EDIT: omg haha so sorry again, you apologized while i was writing this.

Let me ask it again. Have you BroOd <--- ever used an online abbreviation without thinking its annoying while you used it? If you dont respond to this i hope you get banned form the forum because you cant properly argue or debate. If your asked a question you are suppose to answer it. Also.. i use my abbreviation in my listed places like AIM/MSN/Bnet. The forum tends to be more refined writing. So that suggestion by you, was anything but valid.

Me: "If anything i'll admit that your abbreviated examples do not coincide with (btw, lol, brb, wtf etc." I do understand your point and have said on several posts that i agree with you. It is still blatatnly obvious that you avoid admitting that you use these online abbreviated words/sentences. I would love for you to say outright you have NEVER used any of mispelled abbreviations. For a completely and retracting point, lets say i give in and you are totally right, and you have never ever used the abbreviations. You still have an unhealthy issue with a very very NORMAL thing. We are talking millions of people use these abbreviations and think nothing of it. Majority if remember right, makes up a culture.

I don't see how this is "unhealthy", so maybe you could fill me in on that. "Majority if remember right, makes up a culture." Not exactly sure what you were attempting to say here, but if you're attempting to prove something valid simply because of it's widespread use, I guess slavery was fine too.

If you hadnt noticed, i was a proponant of "nothing is wrong with abbreviations". So why then would i compare [can't] to ebonics, when obviously i did not.

On a forum it pisses me off because it's not too hard to type correctly (I do it all the time here), but as long as I can understand the post I don't bitch about abbreviations and what not. Overuse of "lol" pisses me off.
