Lets clear up misunderstanding. I don't hate any race just because I think they're inferior. I have some white friends, (some because my school is only about 30% white. Yea.) and I don't hate them at all. I just hate the people who bash on China and how its a communist country, and a lot of them just so happens to be white. That is the reason why I tend to point my fingers towards white people whenever China gets bashed. Sorry if I sounded like i thought white people are evil, but they are the ones making all sorts of lies about china. And your last post was asking me if I am a racist? I told you if you want to view me this way then sure you can. Let me ask you a question, are you saying that I'm an idiot for not defending my country when you guys start off going "Oh, its the dumb commie country that kills millions of people a year!" So you think other races are inferior? I know its nit picking a bit but your the one pointing the finger at others for being racist. | ||

I thought thats why racism took place in the first place. Like I read this article that white people read during imperialist era called White something (I suddenly forgot the title arrggh... I'll edit it in once I remember) where it said that it was white man's goal to educated the inferior savages like africans and asians. I'm pretty sure they used that as one of their reason to take over other country. | ||

Yeah, it is hard. Opium is what Morphine and Heroin are made from, though it's much much less addictive. Same compounds, but much less strong and addictive. If someone smokes it once and a while, you won't be addicted. If you smoke it all day every day, yeah, you'll have physical dependence. Opiates are all very addictive. | ||

This thread is way off track, When it comes to countries people always will have their opinions and they ruffle feathers of people who live in those countries and that makes people come to the defense of their country. Honestly, Everyone knows that there was mass exploration by western powers and they did a LOT of harm to other parts of the world. This still happens today and it sucks. Be proud of your country but be confident in your country to not give a shit about what others say about your country. Why should you care? The world is full of people who are either ignorant and/or prejudicial as everyone holds their own familiar culture in a better light then other groups will. Lets just go back what this topic was supposed to be about. | ||

I will agree that others have done exactly that in this thread (which does of course, validate your point that many white people are racist).I have just been trying to point out that the stance that ALL white people are boogeymen is unsustainable. And I think given both of our recent changes of tone, that seems to be something we can agree upon. There is nothing wrong with defending your country. Ever. But the way you have verbally conducted yourself has likely led to te backlash, more than the content of your submissions (which is grounded in truth of course). Basically, people are upset because you are a painting this as a solely black and white issue (insofar as chinese = 100% innocent and good, and not at fault for anything and whites = 100% evil, corrupters etc), which is isnt. Perhaps racial harmony isnt what I expect in the US? Speaking as someone based in Australia who is heavily travelled in europe (but not to the US or americas) can say that in my experience, racial relations are very good. There are certainly some misgivings and understandings, but here in Australia at least, there is little if any asian/white tension amongst middle aged or younger people (there is some amongst the elderly from both sides, but thats mostly due to lack of familiarity, pre-disposed opinion and lack of exposure...so basically uninformed racism). My friendship group is probably 70% asian, though that is mostly south-eastern asian (malaysians mostly), though I have a few good chinese friends (who are kind enough to teach me enough mandarin to order food). None of these guys, or even the other chinese I went to high school with, seemed particularly angry or upest with white people. Im sure they are well aware of their country's history, but if anything, I guess they are over judging people on the past. Whatever whites may have done to china in the past, is IN THE PAST. I just cannot understand how that can be used to validate arguments pertaining to modern whites - its not like we somehow controlled our ancestors. To be frank, and certainly rather cheeky, who knows what the chinese would have done if the position had been reversed? What we know is that it is only in recent modernity that there has been any hint of racial equality - in the past, whenever someone could abuse another race, they more or less did for profit. China is as guilty of this as anyone else. Its also undeniable that to some extent, the chinese have a fixation with the west. Just as there has been much chinese influence in the west, many western concepts and inventions now find their home in china. I won't bother listing examples, they are obvious enough. China has become (rightfully) a modern superpower on the back of western inventions and technology coupled with chinese heart, manpower and determination. I can see arguments against that, but I really wonder what China would be like today if, the West had, as a whole, decided to not allow any of its technology out. | ||

Dear Chinese who posted here, On behalf of all Americans who post here with their vague notions of cultural insight, I must apologise if we have offended you. Our origins date back a mere 500 years when the British decided to expand into America. So compared to China, we are still a relatively young, ignorant culture. We have traded in slaves, made war with ourselves, freed our slaves and gave them equal rights, opened the flood gates for immigrants from Europe, made war with other countries under false pretences, and now, although we are free to speak, no matter how shallow our thoughts, we have struggled with our national identity and have still to grasp this concept of higher culture because mostly we are concerned with Hollywood and fast food for our education and nutrition, respectively, so this is why many of us openly criticise China - and anyone else for that matter; because it's our right, it's how our movies educate us, and our food makes us impulsive. So please don't be offended, because as you can see - and as as most of you already know - we are not perfect either. In fact, as a more 'enlightened American', I wish I was Chinese. I am proud of you China. | ||
