I do not bear any grudge towards Beckham, and it is my belief that he's a decent, hard working footballer with a quite extraordinary ability to provide magical crosses. That's it though. In terms of skill and raw talent, comparing Beckham to Zidane is like comparing Hoejja to Jaedong. Do not attempt to equalise mere mortals with God himself.

he made that right midfield/wing position work without having 99% of the skillset of a winger, and he has won awards and championships that many footballers dream of. i am not debating the comparison to zidane here, because there really is no comparison, but i see people say all the time about how beckham sucks and he has no value as a player and this and that and i'm just like.... nah, he's pretty good ;p.

People forget what hes achieved on the pitch; won the premierleague many times, not to forget united's treble, managed to get himself back in capello's real side and played a vital role in winning la liga then had the guts to go to the US and still be a serious contender for the national side. Not to mention he carried a largely average england team for the good part of a decade: What more can you want from a player? Not many can leave their mark on football like Zizou but beckham gave it a damn good shot. (and hes still playing, just about) RESPECT

I'm not suggesting he's in the class of Zidane, but he's one of the better players England has produced over the last 15 years or so. He gets a lot of haters for his life off the pitch, but has been a valuable part of many successful teams.

Beckham's personal life has definitely overshadowed how good a player he has been. He gets a lot of haters for his life off the pitch, but has been a valuable part of He has been a valuable part of one successful team. During his tenure at Real Madrid from 2003-2007 they only won one title. That was La Liga in 2007 the year Beckham decided to leave because he was spending more time on the bench then on the pitch. Even that was a miracle they had to win the last game of the season in order to win on goal differential vs. Barcelona. One of the greatest head to head races for a title ever. Being down 1-0 they scored 3 goals late to win, to bad they completed that comeback after Beckham gets subbed off for Reyes who scores 2 goals. oh man that beckham goal still gives me give goosebumps, such an awesome goal with so much pressure. everyone loves beckham, that cannot be denied. its a shame that he chose to go to la galaxy/milan for the money and not stayed at man u to further his footballing career. cant blame him either though. he is still technically fantastic though, but there are also so many other players that overshadow him now and hes not as good as he used to be. <3

So that when he arrived at Milan I laughed thinking "he's not a football player anymore since at least 5 years, he's going to be pathetic". But I was actually surprised instead, he's still a decent midfielder, with still a decent stamina (although the pace is bad, but it's always been bad) and with his trademark magic foot. It's not going to be a blow if he doesn't make it into the english team, given the plenty of upcoming players for that role, but he still has all my respect, because he's still a valid football player, capable of running and sacrifying himself for the team like any other midfielder.

not necessarily freekicks aimed at scoring, but the way he shoots crosses is amazing.
