I think main thing with Benitez is he's really hit or miss when buying players, with the money hes spent, he should definitely have more quality in his squad than what he has right now.

I don't think one should blame Benitez so hard for Liverpool's failure. If you look at the squad, it's really not that good IMO.

if alonso had stayed there woudlnt be rumors about him being sacked, also he bough Aquilani in replacement but was injured. there are a lot of factors that are beyond him that are causing liverpool to suck

he knew Aquilani was injuried and still bought him. Its not like he bought him, then got injuried.

And, he has had the most ridiculous change of left/right back probably in EPL history. Basically a set of new ones every fucking year.

Man, I thought finnan and riise were fine. Not the most dynamic players, but they knew how to work with Carragher and they played unexceptional but solid D. All the fullbacks liverpool have been through have been alright, but not an improvement or worth the shake up (or money).

Liverpool would only be a team to fear if they went to the next stage of the competition.. They never do well when they have to face several teams to go through.. Like in Premier League they always suck... If they had gone through this stage of Champions league I think we would be seeing a very different tactical approach by Benitez. He's got great results in the past after group stage :p

"he's a world class tactician, but as a human being, he left us nothing to remember."

or something along those lines.

He seems like one of those guys in love with their own brain and the superior logical ability that often separates them from people.
The attitude IdrA for example seems to have too.

Liverpool really dissapointed this year. They seem to do well vs the big teams but lose to the sorry teams in The CL and PL. Injuries really hurt them esp. when ur best players are taking the brunt of them. Chelsea is indeed looking the strongest out of anyone right now and with their Argentinian star looking to get transfered to them in January, you better believe they are trying to make a statement and whip some behind. Benitez is a great coach for Liverpool and has done alot more than most coaches can boast. The TEAM, not him has had an off year and again, with the injuries they team had to deal with you cannot knock them for wha they've done.They've coped as well as they could have and i applaude them for their efforts. Next year will be interesting to watch. I hope Rafa sticks with the Liverpool and he takes them back gallantly in to the CL.
