Arsenal better than Inter? How did you reach that conclusion?
Anglophiles do no longer have the right to just look down on Serie A, because this year PL is the league that doesn't have a single team in the semis, and Inter knocked out the PL leader. PL has been dominant the last few years and one could still argue that it's still the best league in the world, but I don't think by much overall (if it is the best league). The top teams are obviously not superior to the other leagues top teams, and in terms of depth; Chelsea and Man U are stomping teams left and right in PL (Chelsea and Man U have both won like 10+ games with a 3 goal (or more) margin and 5-0 results are not uncommon) whereas in Serie A, for example, the top teams struggle to get wins vs the lower ranked teams. That is not because Inter are bad, that's because even teams like Bari are good.
Inter have a really strong team on paper, but what really makes me think they have the best chance out of all teams in CL vs Barca is Mourinho. He's so fucking great (first coach ever to reach the semis in CL with 3 different teams!) and I'm sure he'll devise some sweet defensive strategy that will give them at least a fighting chance. Barca are still favourites (one might even call them heavy favourites), mostly due to Messi, but Inter won't give up without a fight.

I agree the EPL cannot claim to be the best league in the world after this season. However I don't agree the Serie A has more depth than EPL. The big three of EPL have all had plenty of trouble vs lower table teams this season. A mid table side Birmingham has had a 10+ game unbeaten streak. The 6th (Liverpool) and 12th (Fulham) best team are still in the Europa league while Juventus is out. EPL also has Man City who at least on paper are definitely good enough to advance from most champions league groups.

Isn't it too early to say EPL isn't the best league anymore ? It's just 1 season, i remember some people said that Serie A will go down, and no italian team would reach the quarter-final stages of CL due to bad draw (Chelsea vs Inter, ManU vs Milan, Bayern vs Fiorentina). Now they have 1 team in the semi-finals . ...
Regardless of statistics i still consider EPL to be the best league, only due to the amount of quality players playing there and to the attractiveness of EPL for foreign players. However all this is declining as more and more foreign players nowadays go to the other leagues aswell. I think this is an indicator for a quality of a league too.

as an ac milan fan, I tend to look down on Inter. haha.
But in all honesty, I'd wait and see if Inter has what it takes to win the CL. Inter won serie a 4-year straight and did horribly in the CL for the past 4 years. Well, Inter has never done any good in the CL anyway.

Its sad to say this but i think serie a will continue to perform badly in the CL in the near future. Ac milan and Juventus are just so messed up at the moment. These two giants have no clear plans what-so-ever to reform. Juventus this season is just..disgraceful. I am still waiting for Moggi and Lippi to go back to Juve. And as for Ac milan, I wish Berlusconi could invest more in the team rather than on women.

haha that's true. Or less in face-lifting OP. :D

I guess I just meant EPL can't claim to be the best league for this season only based solely on Chelsea/Manutd/Arsenal's Europe performances. The defending champions can't lose to a side that struggled for the first half of their domestic season and still claim their league is better.

your basis for concluding that serie a is better than the premier league is basically that inter are a more defensive team than united or chelsea. chelsea have lost to wigan, united have lost to burnley. both of those teams are in the bottom 5 of the premiership, and no "bottom 5" team in serie a has beat inter*. everton and aston villa have both beat both united and chelsea, juventus is the only team to beat both inter and roma. city won home and away to chelsea, whereas no team has done that to either roma or inter in serie a. etc etc etc
i mean serie a being better because inter have progressed while no english team is a solid argument, but the depth argument just isn't very good, friend
*whoops roma lost to livorno, thought that was the coppa italia for some reason t__t
and two of 5-0, 7-1 results from united and chelsea are against pompey who are in administration .... lol :D

Whats wrong with Manchester untied they are the only European soccer team i like because we all know Brazil's teams are amazing.

The finals should be Bayern vs Barcelona
Bayern v Lyon: 3-2 (over 2 legs) Barcelona v Inter: 4-3 (over 2 legs)
|
Im gonna predict:
Bayern 4-2 Lyon Barcelona 6-3 Inter if Inter plays open football Barcelona 3-1 Inter if Inter plays everyone back

I have never looked upon PL as a deep league. The fact that there has been 3 winners since '95 says a lot. The fact that the CL spots have been taken by the same 4 teams so often says a lot. When the top teams can win one third of their games with a 3 goal margin I would not call the league deep. When the top teams have a goal difference that is more than 80 better than the teams at the bottom I would not call the league deep. Serie A has a 20 point gap between a Champions League spot and a relegation spot. The ''bad'' teams in Italy are not bullied around. It's not just that Inter, Roma and Co are less offensive than their english counterparts (they are though ), it's just not viable to crush low-level teams on a constant basis when they're all so good at turtling (which is how smart ''bad'' teams should play). I feel pretty damn confident that Chelsea would not be able to rape their way through Serie A.
I still think PL could be considered better than Serie A because the teams at 1-6 or so are better. Excluding the #1's, Inter and Chelsea, the PL teams would probably beat their italian counterparts in those spots. But after that I would seriously place my money on the italian sides all the way.

Do you know how many players Wenger loses to injury every year? Yet Arsenal have never failed to finish top4 and get good CL results the past few years. I'd like to see Barcelona play that good if they miss Messi and Puyol for most of the year. (Sure they'll keep playing fancy but they will receive a lot more goals and score a lot less. Wenger is one of the best coaches in the world and Arsenal surely is the team with the most depth. good point but still, a lot of players are getting injured and its mostly the same ones, so IMO the best thing to do is sell them and get new more reliable players , Eduardo , Rosicky etc are not helping the team at all nowadays.
btw holy shit just watched the Robben goal ;O

you say 1-6 is better but in serie a the 7th place team is juventus who just to lost fulham who are in ..... 12th in the premiership

And Real Madrid got crushed 4-0 by Alcoron who doesn't even play in the spanish top division. Shit happens. Look at the big picture.
