I wasn't thinking when I posted that, obviously. HSM 5 is very good for things like the Zealot, which is outclassed by things like the Oracle. The oracle absolutely loves HSM V. You need seriously good capacitor skills (CB V, HSM V, EM V, ESO V) to fly oracle.

I just meant in general, when would you rather have a merlin vs having a rifter? I'm pretty newbie though so if this question makes no sense and I had to specify it would be for tackling.
Merlin outclasses in virtually every department.
I'd argue that Rifters are better only in certain circumstances (e.g. when you are being neuted but still are a needed DPS force on the field or when speed is absolutely the most important stat).
Rifters are slightly faster and don't need cap for their guns. They don't have the EHP or raw DPS potential of their merlin bros, and they can't fit a shield tank (shield tanks allow for the greatest possible speed and maneuverability) with the tackling trifecta (web, scram, MWD).
If you need to pick one pick the merlin, hands down.

Regular PvP is resuming in under a week now. You guys have had like 3 weeks off, I expect all the new skills I demanded in the corp bulletins to be trained when I return. I'm gonna turn harbingers into zealots and it's gonna be awesome.

EDIT: Nevermind I'm stupid

What times do you plan to be doing regular PvP, and do you have room for a newbie with a tackler frigate?

Sweet. My mentor's already told me how to fit one, and "all timezones" probably includes my timezones

From past experience (not sure if still true) most pvp roams were at around 1-5am Western Australia times. So quite damn late.

I actually hope this is true! I'm a night owl. 1-5 am Western Australia is 11 pm - 3 am where I live in eastern Australia, which would actually be an excellent time for me to play.

Uhh nope its 3-7 afaik. You guys have always been 2hours ahead.

Crap, you're right. How'd I get that mixed up? Oh well, I can manage 3-6 most likely. Not an ideal time, but far from the worst possible.

Sometimes I wish I had gunneries instead of missiles

Awesome, 1-5 am Western Australia time is like 8 to noon here and I'm sure my employer wouldn't be cool with my skipping mornings to be a "suicide tackle" even if I explain what it means. I can be available on weekends though!!
