"To all of our fans outside of North America and Europe:
Today we've announced the pre-order details for the initial launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic, and as you may now know, we’ve taken the difficult but necessary decision to limit our initial launch supply for the game. BioWare and LucasArts are completely focused on building an exceptional game and an exceptional game service to go with it. We decided to constrain our launch capacity to ensure we deliver a great experience to every player.
Part of the reason this decision was made was because of the overwhelming demand for The Old Republic, and we're humbled by that level of excitement and anticipation. We fully intend to deliver to you an amazing game when we expand our service post-launch, but right now we cannot commit to any timeframe for when that may happen. As soon as we have more information about additional launches in more territories, we’ll let you know.
We are committed to delivering Star Wars: The Old Republic to BioWare and Star Wars fans around the world, and to growing a truly global community."
Only Blizzard cares about us Aussies, long live Blizzard!!

This is shit. If Blizzard can worldwide release world of warcraft why cant EA/Bioware. They have the money to support this, but would rather spit in the face of anyone outside of US or Europe. Its 2011, people expect more these days.

I'm debating on if I should splurge, the Collectors looks cool, but damn is it a jump in price and you only have two extra digital items.
Sorry for my Aussie friends I don't think it's intentional. They might be exploring various options and need some backing and would rather not take pre-orders if they can't deliver on Oceanic servers at release than deal with angry people asking for refunds of 5-10-20 dollars. I mean they are taking in a ton of orders and don't even have a release date.
I think it's safe to say it's this year, but that's about it.

There was rumor of IP locking for other countries, I'm confirming there is none.

There was? Damn, I didn't hear that. Would have been monumentally idiotic if they had lol.

Whats fail about amazon? Seems like a huge win that you can purchase the game at all!

Does anyone know what's up with the "preorder promotional code? I purchased the standard edition from gamestop nearly two hours ago and still haven't received the code?
Does anyone know how they work or get sent out?

i think i might cry .... this sucks -_-
playing a MMO at the start is like the best thing running dungeons before there are strats is like the best thing ever and there will be story spoilers every where this makes me so depressed :<
|

That's not what's fail, the developer saying that's what you should do on Twitter is what's fail.

The beta has been very limited for this game, I have a hard time preordering a game when I havent had a chance to play it (MMO's especially) and i'm even more concerned that the limited edition is $150...that seems to be EXTREMELY expensive to me.
I need to know if this game is going to be worth it....150 is a lot.

Not sure about Gamestop but GAME in the UK is sending out codes next Thursday.

They already "sold" out of that collectors edition, but I fully expect to see pre-order copies of those landing on Ebay.
I'm a little annoyed at how the Gamestop canada is advertised to get the Collectors but probably never will because they know they will sell out in the US alone and it's easier for them to have us pay customs.
Got my pre-order on the digital deluxe copy. Only part that has me really confused is $4.00 of "Taxes"... Really hoping that doesn't mean the Tax man somehow figured out how to tax me over the internets ... If I have to start paying PST and GST over the monthly subscriptions I'll be pissed.
If any one else knows what this $4.00 tax represents, I'd love to know, it clearly doesn't apply to any steam game I purchase.
EDIT:
I spent a bit of time in queue with the EA support, wasn't too long things considered. However I got this answer regarding the $4.00 tax that appeared on my receipt was a pre-authorization charge that should be credited to my account. So far I have no complaints other than I find it a bit strange they take pre-orders before release dates, but I knew I was going to be this games B* from the start...

I just preordered from gamestop, The code is on the receipt and send you to the swtor website where you log in and enter the code.
Can't wait to play this game
|
ordered mine on amazon, the email with pre-order code arrived in around 10 seconds.
|
Have they said how much it would cost a month? I would love to play but i don't think I can afford to pay 15 dollars a month if its like World of Warcraft
|
Not sure if anyone posted this yet but wtf... Picture in Spoilers. Essentially they have a queue for pre-order cause they're limited in quantity... + Show Spoiler +
|
Not paying for an overblown pre-order. Doing Free Trial when it's released and will go from there.
