Wow, I didn't see a single game due to work, but my thoughts from what I've seen.
YES! An 0-16 team finally! I've been wishing for this forever, every time a team starts 0-8 or so.
I can't believe Chicago, and Tampa dropped their games. I didn't think the Eagles had a prayer to make the playoffs this season, but I was wrong. Hats off to them for finally getting their shit together. They are a very dangerous team in the playoffs if they keep playing this way.
The Cardinals finally looked good again, but against another garbage team. They seem to be content with being there, to me. One and done.
Finally, none of you can possibly understand how happy I am that the Patriots did not make the playoffs. If the Broncos win tonight (when), this will be a nearly perfect regular season to me. An 0-16 team, a Broncos playoff berth, and a Patriots playoff miss (not that I expected them to make the playoffs without Brady, but whatever)... mm.
Anyhow, I'm off to watch the game! GO BRONCOS!

All I need is an early exit by the Mannings and with the Broncos, Cowboys, and Jets missing the playoffs, I still have something to be happy about after this season.

Well I'm not a fan of the jets, but that comment by 3 Lions was extremely ignorant.

Broncos fans are so delusional it's funny. :d

That's really distasteful...
Favre will almost certainly retire now. I'm curious what the Jets will do to improve their team for next season, and who will play QB. They need a better pass defense, that's for sure. Their run defense, running game, offensive line, and special teams (i.e. Leon) are solid.

Every fan of every mediocre team is delusional. Fans always think their team is going to win, unless their complete shit. And you never know what you're going to get with the Broncos. That said, I didn't think they could stop SD's offense, I just thought they could score more points on them... Oh well.
At any rate, I'm going to give my round 1 predictions:
Colts>Chargers Baltimore>Miami Atlanta>Arizona Minnesota>Philly (May change that)
I don't think any of the lower division winners were very good teams this year. The Chargers are pretty hot right now, but they beat a bunch of crappy teams, and couldn't get it done vs the good ones. They just lost to the Colts in week 12 or something like that, and I don't think they're going to beat them this time. I am not at all impressed by this team, or what they've done. The Colts are on a real hot streak, and they're a team no one wants to play right now. They are very dangerous.
I am impressed by what Miami did this year, but I STILL don't think they're that good. The only reason they won the division is because Tom Brady was injured all season. I have been on Baltimore's bandwagon pretty much since the season started, and I think I said it somewhere in this thread that if they have a moderately productive offense they could become a serious threat in the playoffs, as I thought they still had one of the best defenses in the league. I was right about them still being a top-notch defense, now the second half of my prediction can come true. The Ravens are definitely going to beat Miami. They already beat them handily one time, and it shouldn't be surprising to anyone when they do it again. The Ravens should be the AFC South division winners, but the refs robbed them with a terrible call at the end of their game vs the Steelers the second time around.
Arizona hasn't had an impressive game against a good team all year. Every time they played a team that wasn't horrible they were beaten very badly. The Falcons can run the ball very effectively, and Matt Ryan can throw very well too. The Cardinals should continue with their losing culture and go one and done.
I'm only taking Minnesota to begin with because I think it's ridiculous to pick all road teams to win the games. Minnesota seems to be the most likely home team to win its game. They aren't the best home team on the list by a long shot, but it's so unlikely that four road teams win I have to pick one home team for now. I'll probably change that, considering how impressive Philly's win was on Sunday, but I don't know.. Philly has been pretty inconsistent throughout the year; it really wouldn't surprise me if Minnesota won.

Whole slew of firings just went down...
Browns: Savage and Crennel out Jets: Mangina out (Bet he's regretting naming his kid after Brett "I get paid $2 mil per INT" Favre?) Lions: Marinelli out
And Sweetlemons, I agree with all your picks. Vikes depends on if Williams get their suspensions put back on or soemthing.

Where did the NFL season go, lol I was just watching Week 1 it seems...

Eagles will take out the Vikings. I really can't see how the Vikings can win the game unless McNabb implodes.
|
That's always a possibility with him. they've been inconsistant as hell all season.
I just think AP is a beast, and the Vikes will probably shut down the Eagles run game. It's probably gonna be a turnover fest. Especially if Jackson plays. Is anyone else unsure how that dude became a 2nd round pick??

I think eagles defensive gameplan will revolve around AP. Their secondary is one of the best, so it can handle the passing game, while the front takes AP. By the way, what happened to Gus Frerotte? He was pretty good, and IMO way better than Jackson. I remember he got injured, but I thought he got better.

I watched a lot of Browns games early in the season because I drafted Braylon Edwards. If any coach deserves to be fired, it is Crennel.

I was at the Lions game in Green Bay. HOLY SHIT lambeau is awesome, having the whole stadium as bleachers is cool, not a bad seat in the entire place. Atmosphere is INSANE too, all the crazy ass fans who have had season tickets for 50+ years, TONS of people dress up. I didnt think the lions looked too bad, just the secondary is fucking horrible. The play from the safeties is beyond pathetic, the lions give up way too many big plays because of them.
If anyone has a chance to ever go to a game in Green Bay. GO
its worth it.

I've been to Lambeau, but not for a game. I have two friends that worked their in Curly's. One of them was the head chef (I think head), and the other one was either a cook or a waitress, I don't recall. The chef-friend just transferred though. Anyway, it is a really nice stadium; I wish I could have seen a game there.

That's honestly what I think, but it's really unlikely that all the road teams go in and win. Given how tough of a place Minnesota is to play, I'm taking them for now. I just don't know, though. The Eagles can game plan all they want for AP, I don't think they can stop him. And if they don't stop AP, they will get beaten through the air on play action. Westbrook will probably get stopped for the most part, on the ground. Through the air, he's an entirely different beast. It's going to be a good game, I think. I can really see the Vikings winning this game, whereas I can't really see Miami or San Diego winning.
I can see Arizona winning their game, though. Atlanta's defense is not exactly stout, and Arizona is tough to beat at home. The Cards have a fair rush defense (I think they were actually top ten, but that's probably due to everyone throwing on them), but I don't think they can stop Turner/Norwood. Their passing D is horrid. On the other side, Arizona's pass D is ridiculous. That's going to be high scoring.
Sadly, I cannot watch a single game live. I'm going to have them all recorded and watch them when I get home from work.

I have a regular who comes to my work everyday fully decked out in Cowboys apparel. He'll wear a hat, jersey, shorts, shoes, and jacket all related to the Cowboys, every single day. After the Eagles stomped them he comes into the store in plain clothes with the most devastated look on his face, it was hilarious.
