Does SBO use Seimitsus or Sanwas? I know typically Sanwas are accepted as better quality, but who knows.

also does has anyone found any decent SoulCal4 vids yet? SBO5's SC3 vids were pretty good.

For sticks, Sanwa and Seimitsu are "standard" depending on what arcade you go to. 3D games almost exclusively use Sanwas, 2D games are more whatever the arcade owner decides- though Seimitsus are fairly popular for Street Fighter and some other 2D games.
In terms of quality, they're both pretty similar. Some people say Sanwa feels like a better quality stick but it's pretty subjective. Boils down to preference, really. My HRAP2 is modded with a Seimitsu LS-32-01 and I like it more than the Sanwa JLF, though I can play on a JLF more or less (kinda have to since fubarduck rekindled his love for Sanwas sometime after he convinced me into getting a Seimitsu and most of aUFO's cabinets have Sanwas as a result T_T )

For buttons, though... Sanwas are more of the standard. They're really easy to press and have good response (and people in Japan don't pound buttons as hard as people do in the States). I like Seimitsu buttons (button doesn't activate just by brushing over it, so you get fewer accidental inputs) but yeah, most Japanese and Japanese-style arcades I've been to use Sanwa buttons regardless of what stick brand they are using.

It should be noted that the Korean Tekken players got to play on Korean sticks for SBO... forget which brand of Fanta stick they used, maybe Taeyoung Fantas? Don't think they put in Crown buttons though, probably just swapped sticks and left the Sanwa buttons in.

(It's actually pretty inexpensive to get Korean parts for a stick! A Saulabi is cheaper than a HRAP for the most part... though both use crappy imitation buttons and it's easier to mod a HRAP's buttons than a Saulabi's)

# Be sure to bring a printout of your registration receipt just incase any errors have occured.

If you have already completed your registration by paying online with PayPal, you should still come to the registration table to pick up your id card and bracket assignments (see below).

At the registration table you will receive both your tournament badge and a pool assignment for each tournament you're participating in. Do not lose your badge or pool assignments! You will need both to compete in the qualification rounds.

All guests of tournament players are welcome to watch the event qualification rounds and finals free of charge. We also welcome them to enjoy the the Bring Your Own Console (BYOC) area, again free of charge. Please be courteous in the BYOC and respect your fellow gamers. Fighting Game Tournament Players

To play in the qualification rounds, report to the game stations which will be running your pool at the time indicated on the schedule below. For example, if you're competing in the Tekken 5 tournament and you found out you were in Pool C during the registration process, you should report to the gamestations for pool C at 1:00 PM to begin playing. The semi-finals for each tournament will run immediately after the qualification round finish.

* Report to your assigned pool at the time your tournament is schedule to begin (see schedule below).
* Do not arrive late! If you are late for your match, you will be disqualified and no refunds will be awarded.
* The top finishers in each pool qualify for the semi-finals.
* After qualifying for the semi-finals, report to Pool A and await further instructions. Do not leave the game area or you risk being disqualified.

The top 8 players in each semi-final round will move onto the grand finals on Sunday and compete for the title of Tournament Champion for 2008.

Step 3: Enjoy the Finals!

If you did not qualify for the finals, we still welcome you back on Sunday to see the top 8 players duke it out for fame, fortune, and a cut of the prize money.

I'm surprised they put the Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Marvel vs Capcom 2 events on different days.

Good luck to anyone here who's going.

About Sanwa vs Seimitsu: I think Seimitsu sticks have a smaller deadzone than Sanwas? I've also read that Seimitsu sticks are preferred for shoot-em-ups for this very reason.

Seimitsus are preferred for shmups for the most part, smaller deadzone sounds right to me.

fubarduck is in top 8 for 3S at Evo! So far, top 8 at Evo:
Winners-
JR - Akuma/Gouki
Tokido - Chun-li
Amir - Chun-li
Justin Wong - Chun-li

Losers-
Nuki - Chun-li
fubarduck - Chun-li
Mike Watson - Ken
HungBee - Oro

looooool at all the Chun-li players. At least it isn't an all Yun/Chun top 8 like some years ;p

T5:DR top 8, for those who care-
Winners-
Gandido
Lingmassacre (most likely Ling Xiaoyu, not zerglings lol)
Ryan Hart
KOR

Losers-
vfanatic
Rip
Som
Cano

edit-
Saya beat me to it because my computer randomly dropped my post =/

nobody beat Tokido, that's why he's in winners and not losers.

-update-
apparently Ryan Hart had a migraine during his match with JR and collapsed afterward; technically he's supposed to play HungBee for the last spot in the top 8, but they're gonna play for it on Sunday (before the Ro8 starts)

CvS2 top 8:
Winners-
John Choi
Ricky Ortiz
BAS
Tokido

Losers-
Justin Wong
Buktooth
Combofiend
Hail and Kill

No probalo, Skazzo.

Wow @ Ryan Hart. Hope he feels better tomorrow.

In CvS2, I know BAS and Ricky both use A-groove gayness. I wouldn't be surprised if John Choi and Tokido are also using A-groove. Capcom really needs to stop making custom combos overpowered.

Did any other Japanese players enter 3s or CvS2?

A-Groovers - Ricky, BAS, Justin (might be cute and play P, lol), HAK, possibly Combo and Tokido.

John Choi plays C Groove and has pretty much been playing C (someone)/Ken/Sagat for years now.

Tokido originally played N Groove, then switched to A Groove, then switched back to N Groove a while back, don't think he's switched back to A recently.

Combofiend plays K Groove mostly, though he plays his wacky A Groove characters (Rolento, Rock, Eagle, Cammy, etc.) pretty well.

Buktooth plays N Groove Iori/Morrigan/Hibiki, order/ratio depending on matchup, every game.

I loved watching Buktooth play CvS2, back when I found the game interesting. Sometimes he picks Chun Li instead of Morrigan for certain matchups, although I don't understand why. His Morrigan always seemed a lot better.
