Here's a Marvel game from page 2. The match in question is the 3rd one (starting at 5:30), but the whole set is remarkable imo because VDO's team is Ken/Colossus/Rogue. O_O

the last match in this (2:15) is fucking lol
knowing about how the air hurricane is glitched i kind of had a really bad feeling what was going to happen as soon as strider assist got called and ken was neutral jumping but i didn't quite grasp the full intensity of it...

i dont know they just are.. everyone calls it that. i mean, yeah, as a programmer, I know that's probably the wrong term... it's probably just the damage was given the wrong value or the data on how they are supposed to hit is pointing to the wrong attack and capcom didn't notice.

you just do them and they do waaayyy too much damage for any attack of that type. the ground hurricane kick does a tiny tiny fraction of the damage that the air one does. in the case of tron's projectile assist, if you do the same attack outside of her assist it does one hit that does as much damage as an medium punch... if you call it as an assist, it does several hits (if you cross up with it does something like 6 if I remember right), and each hit does as much damage as a fierce.
56 characters on an obviously rushed game that was copy and pasted together from other games, it's no surprise... the surprise is that the game didn't end up with anything as bad as rainbow edition's fullscreen homing sonic boom infinites or mugen style walk forward jab infinite

one of the people that plays marvel around here is also a programmer and he generally knows the engine a lot better than I do, whenever I go to ask him a question about why something happens (I don't really play the game at any level worth mentioning, I'm more interested from a game design/programming standpoint), he always tells me just "its marvel, you don't question it". which means I have to go look up shit and the end result always seems to come back to there not being an answer.
how did the active frames of iron man antiair assist (a move with no invincibility) go through magneto's shockwave super that one time I was playing? how the fuck did dr. doom's rocks cause flying screen once? how the fuck did my friend unblock in the middle of airblocking a proton cannon in superjump mode that one time? I've searched for information on this stuff and I have found nothing, and I have never been able to replicate them either. I don't know what it was. marvel is the only game that I have EVER seen where something fucked up happens on the game and the good players at the tournament are confused too. and this shit happens at every tournament. I've read posts from people like mike z and viscant complaining about this lol, I find it kind of interesting.
on the other hand it's hard to tell what was intended and what wasn't. some "glitches" have been in the versus series for several games (guard break, fly related stuff). guard break even makes logical sense. you only have 1 action per jump in normal jump mode, just like in super turbo. the difference is that super turbo doesn't let you airblock. there's a pretty large similarity between marvel and super turbo at the very basic levels... but marvel adds a lot more stuff which makes it be a more fucked up game because they just added stuff but put in very few safeguards to balance things

UFO just had a tournament this past Saturday (SF4, BBCS, GvG NEXT), plus SF4 ranbats on Sunday. Lot of Louisiana players showed up, a few Houston players, most of the core Austin players were in attendance. Good times.

IkarugaDC youtube account has the GvG NEXT match vids; ArcadeUFO youtube account should have the SF4 ranbat top 8 matches. BBCS wasn't recorded, dunno if SF4 tourney was recorded at all.

Speaking of NEXT, it's out on PSP. adhoc party/Xlink kai? GET AM ME?

supposedly some of BB was recorded, hopefully at least the Jan/Pozer grand finals.
