Really this patch did not make any one hero completely imba at all. Its not like when pirate was released and he was team killing everyone with his ult + torrent + swinging twice. Most of the heroes are balanced (due to the long beta) and no new item is a must have item. This patch really was thorough and didn't bring alot of imba things to the table. I could see both TC and batrider used in line ups, but until they are played more often its hard to say how great they will be.

Hasn't it only been out for a few hours? I'm not concerned about the imbalance (as most big patches have been until now, and this is a BIG fucking patch ) as I am about this changing the game so much at once. I'll have to agree with some of the opinions on DA.com that it should've been partitioned into a series of smaller patches.

Basically, I welcome change but I also dislike the anti-competitive-scene manner in which Icefrog released the patch.

I dunno if it's different for DotA, but in most games, balance problems can't really be considered until a while after the release of a new patch

Basically the same. There are false imba alerts shortly after a new patch but it's safe to assume, considering the history of dota patches, that the bigger the patch, the more likely there will be balance issues.

Patching dota has as far as I can remember followed the same pattern: medium/big changes (think expansion) followed by tweakings without further additions.

Personally, I'd prefer dota to be tweaked more than it is often changed. 6.59d was one of the better versions but it still had its flaws. Underused (read: shit) heroes (medusa), items (blademail), etc. I consider flaws. An ideal version would force people to put some thought and meaning into some of the bans and picks and gameplay would stay diverse for a longer period of time. As it was before, only a minority of the heroes are always in the ban pool and I'll admit the viable pool for picking is much larger but still, this patch shows no regard for the stability of the game.

Just a side-rant: my close friend and clanmate whom I always bitch at when he plays heroes dumb shit like syllabear and medusa actually wrote icefrog a list of suggestions to buff dumb shit heroes (he likes them because they're shitty and boring and nobody plays them. Don't ask why) and a good portion of them actually came through. I was actually there, when he was writing icefrog, telling him icefrog probably gets hundreds of email from idiots everyday so why bother. lol

tbh i think cheftain could be really imba..owned few games solo mid on euro hlr1. if u get them into ult that 35%hp loss + slow is big thing...+ low cd. the main problem is u need a mass disabler in team fight or a initialiser in a gang so u can spirit + stun freelly and usually u get 2+ enemies . then just ult and it's gg

been thinking at a blink spirit+stun in a big battle but that requires a bkb mostly, or a mass disabler before.

btw do u think that stun really really lasts for 5 sec? sometimes it does, sometimes it seems to me that i get to my target, and stun is gone...mb some shitty bug

the stun lasts for 5 seconds, but if they take any damage from a hero it breaks the stun

don't really think so..i've hit a hero 2-3 times before stun was over

or do you mean another hero? different from cheftain?

the stun is supposed to break if they take damage from any hero. i think the changelog said there was a 0.65s period after the stun where it won't break it

"Only player based damage can wake heroes. Damage dealt during a brief period after the stomp will not awaken heroes (0.65)"
