+ Show Spoiler [SK vs EG] +EG got stomped; those games weren't even very close. You see Testie free farming and you know how the game is going to end.
I was disappointed with Cardinal's magmus in game 3 (or 4) but it was probably due to lag initially. Early in the laning phase he had a bunch of terrible stuns+plays. Also, around halfway through when EG was pushing the second mid tower, I thought Cardinal should've started channeling his ult after pharaoh? (or someone) got arrowed close to him.

I guess he had periodic spikes? I saw a good stun on him when Aluna got Nymph stunned and he immediately stuns Pebbles/Tort to prevent her from instagibbed although Pharaoh eventually turned the engagement around.
Subsequent teamfights he just melted because he was a line-stunbot. Even after that too. But he did his job.
EDIT: And of course congrats to SK.

Maybe I dont' know enough about HoN to say it, but it goes to show the difference between these two teams when EG doesn't have chu there to solo mid against Testie.

rofl, well he won't have poker to worry about any more.

i dont watch hon often but that was a ton of mistakes EG aside from lane losses made in one game

I've just bought this game, and I'm lacking friends to play it with. If you want to play some mm on Europe feel free to add fumpt.

Hey everyone!
I've been wanting to make the switch over to playing HoN for awhile now but face the dilemma of not being able to convince my friends to pay $30 dollars for a game they possibly won't enjoy.
I recently saw that they had offered accounts for $10 (the amount I can convince 3/4 friends is a good deal) on sale but this seemed to be a first occurrence with no signs of recurrence. I guess I'm just asking if anyone here has an ear to the ground that has inside info and can give tell of possible future sale. Thanks in advance.

It was actually a second occurence if my memory serves me well, but I can't see it happening for another few months. Probably to coincide with DotA2 release

you wont find out unless you know someone from s2 or someone leaks it.
Until than your friends are going to have to wait or buy the full 30. or even buy the sub accounts and use different pw's.

Probably to coincide with DotA2 release I can't see dota2 being released this year. Also, I don't think s2 is going to have another sale for a while. Use the trial link posted a few pages back to try out the game. You can only play no stats so it'll be leavers+bads but it's better than nothing if you're cheap, I guess.

Well, thanks all for the responses.
We've been playing on trials as of now. Gonna have to convince the buddies to fork it out!

He is on their ESL team page which means pretty much nothing. He's practicing arranged 5s with lower elo people (as in 500ish lower elo, as in TL level or below)

pretty shitty. The best NA team, CLG pretty much shits on all the NA teams. I think they lost one tournament series... ever (they lost to TSM once about a month ago).
AFAIK there's really not that many leagues/tourneys with the exception for WCG/riot's big season1/NESL tournament. They introduced weekly Go4LoL tournaments and its a joke because winner gets like $100 (split 5 ways?) and you basically have to invest your entire weekend into it so CLG never even bothers playing in them.

All other decent or semi-decent players randomly group up to partecipate in tournaments, all the "real" asians are terrible in that they have no understanding of the game whatsoever bar the rare exception.
EU and US servers are completely separated, EU only has one team comp type in their metagame while US has 4. Most teams stick to one type of team comp, except for TSM that plays all the 3 that aren't standard (aggressive, all tanks and EU). CLG only plays standard and EU.
The best teams are those that are good at working together, for example CLG has been together for almost one year and is the longest living team, TSM was formed from scraps of good teams that broke up after big fights (2 core members of CLG are from team AoN whose leader was solomid's current leader). Other teams that do decent are yM (all former guild wars players who have known eachother for 4+ years) and the Hong Kong team. Team Liquid has been doing decent as of recently despite their top players being the laughing stock of high ELO.
Chu was picked up as a filler by TSM, but he is below most good players' standards (top elo is 2300, one trick ponies are 2000, braindead is 1400, chu is 1800)
Oh and CLG doesn't play in any non-compulsory tournament and are very secretive about their strategies. The team doesn't have a definite leader and pretty much no one knows who gives the orders. The rare times they stream their games they will do so without any audio whatsoever, with 10 mins delay, while for example TSM and most other teams will mute their vent for bans and picks and stream everything with 5 mins delay.
Interesting notes: LoL has no observer mode, except for private servers which are used exclusively for ESL premier series and lans, and those servers often break or have terrible latency. Players stream their FPV, while a top daily stream will attract up to 5k people a CLG tournament game will easily get 20 to 35k people, and that is 20k people looking at a screen with no sound.

what's a "one trick pony" player in LoL
edit: also what's the go to site when looking for competitive LoL vods and news
|
One trick ponies are people who can only play one champion, which may just as well be a fotm, and as soon as that champion gets nerfed those players disappear.
Vods can be found on solomid.net, clgaming.net and on own3d.tv by searching for the more popular vods. "News" as in biased articles by a sponsor can be found at nationalesl.com/us/lol/ or by spending some time filtering the trash posts on the TL lol forums.
Interesting notes part 2: the only training as a group that top teams get are from the weekly go4lol cups and from those small time tournaments: the official ranked arranged 5s format is retarded in that it only has 2 bans per team instead of the tournament standard 5 per team (out of a 55+ champion pool with around 30 viable picks). Skirmishes between teams rarely happen because most teams have to find the time and get a whole day off whenever anything gets arranged because of the game client not being competition-friendly. While most top LoL players used to play dota on different degrees, very very few names played HoN and only 2 off the top of my head played it after it released, the most "notorious" being former pubstar chaox.
|
LoL client is a joke. Replays/observers/updated bans systems are a must as well are pauses.
Chaox was a hon player? And they ban 5 per team now?
