Our team has 1 game left in ADC but we're like 4 wins 8 draws 4 losses so we won't make it to the playoffs T_T I play more SC2 than dota these days anyway hehe

random ish question, what does the (other?) Koreans think about DotA and HoN (mostly wondering about HoN)? or do they just aren't interested in it and more of SC/SC2? + why (prob hype but just wondering)

Well most of them are clueless about DotA and HoN as it is now but with the release of SC2, they are becoming increasing interested since there's some hype about UMS in SC2 and SotiS was kind of popular here.

However, Koreans are kind of familiar with LoL for some reason. Apparently there's a lot of Koreans at the top of the LoL NA ladder afaik?

Once Heen highlight video comes out, there will be so much Hype that a pro league bigger than scbw's will emerge.

Ah heh. I'm personally not too interested in the Blizzard DoTA nor SotiS though myself (though if/once I get a better computer I'd try it out, but I doubt it can compare to a game engine *built* for these types of games).

I actually started with SC1 (casually) then went into HoN then went into SC2, but got semi out of SC2 (other than watching) since my computer can't handle SC2....

I'm not too sure though about LoL, tried it out, but I didn't really like it personally...geh >_>

What (do you think) the creators of HoN/DoTA (well mostly HoN since that is more relevant to me...but I guess you can say DoTA2) to get Koreans more interested/hyped up with the game?

For foreign games to be popular in Korea, it needs at least one of:

1. good marketing

For games, Koreans have sheep mentality and are easy to persuade. If a friend says game A is awesome, his friends will follow and spread the word like a virus. This is why I constantly see them playing shitty Korean games. I find this very similar to kpop culture.

Basically the only foreign gaming company I can tell that actively promotes their game for the Korean audience is Blizzard.

2. established fanbase from prequels

If there's no marketing, the name itself will draw people's attention.

3. focus on single player

Korean made games mostly focus on multiplayer aspects. Most of the popular games of this genre come from outside Korea anyway. ex) Civilization series, FM, story-based RPGs etc.

HoN and DotA fit none of these criteria sadly.

so pretty much you have to be actively there to keep on hammering it into them to want to play the game? o_o

is that also the reason Team SC1 in Korea slowly died out (or at least one of the reasons)?

yes, just like how stupid korean shows somehow convince the audience that the music is good/catchy/trendy.

I'm not sure what you mean by Team SC1? Are you talking about the BW scene?

Starcraft was lucky that it had no korean competition when it was released and became a huge success through word in a time when the internet wasn't as powerful for marketing.

Yea I was talking about BW, mostly referring to how NesTea/ZergBong was in the Team League for it or something...but that died out and he got screwed over until SC2 came out or something

I personally... don't care, I'm still Loling about LoL. tried it once lol'ed ;x, and went back to HoN+SC2.

(From what I hear about it... isn't there like no real deny mechanic, the modifiers (whatever they were called...blah) had no cap...like infinite amounts of lifesteal, and that at (near) the end everyone carries -.-)

The HoN and DotA sub channel really is the same channel as the one you had on vent. I can give channel admin rights to a few people, and you guys can rename the sub channels.

nope, I can give 2-3 people channel admin to the dota/hon channels, someone needs to let me know who though.

The last time I checked, the Hon/Dota sub channels weren't passworded like the main one is. I think you should do the opposite. Keep the main channel open for anyone to join and make a couple passworded subchannels for the reclusive gnarled folk.
