I haven't played the prequels and I am not deep in the lore. Bought it as PC release and loved it. The gameplay and fighting mechanics are crisp, graphics are well done and the story is very emotional. Maybe it's because I have a son but this was right in the feels for me.
I can understand how you feel though. Was the same for me with Horizon Zero Dawn. 10 hours in I just stopped and never started again
Haha my situation is the opposite, absolutely loved Zero dawn and lost interest in GoW :p It’s the story I think, zero dawn is one of the few games where I read all books/holograms I came across. Something about the story just grabbed me. Played zero dawn on PC with M+K, the sequel on PS5. I actually preferred M+K cause you’re using a bow all the time and aiming is just so much easier with mouse.
Honestly struggling to come up with a reason why controller would be better for the combat, it’s pretty much point and click.
I also lost interest with GoW lol I think what I found really gripping about HZD's story was + Show Spoiler +
uncovering how the world came back from total extinction. Exploring the ancient ruins and coming across all these dead bodies and journals and slowly piecing together the world's history was genuinely captivating for me.
Black Friday, time to load up on games for the year My wishlist: horizon forbidden west God of war ragnarok Elden ring Star Wars fallen order (purchased) Lego Star Wars
40+ hours into GoW and I'm just now getting to the end. It's been one helluva ride this far. Can totally believe they sold 5.1 million copies in the first week (imagine if it was released on PC as well).
That is definitely on my radar. Never thought Remnant would get a sequel as well but here we are. I have the Forspoken demo downloaded and ready to go. Just waiting for the weekend (and the end of the office party later tonight) before I give it a go.
Downloaded Elden Ring. Took me 13 hours to find Godrick. Leveling sucks in this game as everything is too expensive and the damn mobs don't drop enough runes to make it easier. So I'm still getting fucked up running around. Accidentally running into bosses also sucks when you're pretty low level. As much as I'm enjoying the game, the grind man..the fucking grind. If I wanted to grind, I'd hop back into FF14.
Gonna pause on ER for the forseeable future. Get Forspoken and Harry Potter and enjoy myself lol. 2023 is indeed looking to be even better for PS5 owners in terms of game releases. Here's to everyone and I hope those who wanted a PS5 managed to get one!

Happy new year!
Haha, I dunno what kind of experience you've had with Souls games, it definitely asks you to bridge together experience with Souls games with experience playing open world games. Elden Ring doesn't always marry those elements perfectly, but I found it immensely satisfying nonetheless.
Also just finally managed to get my own PS5, at last. Caught the God of War bundle and jumped on it. Wasn't holding my breath to play GoW specifically, but I'm having a good time with it so far. Also had to grab the Spider-Man games, because you literally get to be Spider-Man.
I also skipped the PS4, so I'm using this as an opportunity to circle back and pick up stuff like Bloodborne, finally get to play it for the first time. Having a ton of fun with my new PS5 all around

Also, Happy New Year fellow nerds.
I've played them all. I know FromSoftware games. This one just...shit!
You'll love Bloodborne. I got it as well and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Might want to pick up Remnant: From the Ashes as well. It's really fun.
I want to go back and grab a bunch of PS4 games since I missed it as well, but I got other things my money is already spoken for, so it'll be a very, very long time before I get to those.

If you reached Godrick, that means you already beat Margit right? I found him harder. No need to 'grind' anything, if you can beat Margit you can easily beat Godrick.
I personally found Elden Ring disappointingly easy. 2 main causes for that: spirit summons (lmao mimic tear) and the open world making the player too powerful. Some story bosses felt like absolute jokes because I arrived at lvl 100 after exploring most of the region. Was a bit disappointed that the bosses didn't scale to your level but I guess allowing the player to overlevel to make bosses easier is a bit of a staple of the Souls series. And that is why I love Sekiro most :D
On that note, played Returnal on PS5 which is a bit of a combination of Dark Souls and Hades. A roguelike with very hard bosses/levels. Completely different gameplay however. Really enjoyed it! Worth picking up at half price if you see it somewhere. Great game.
So I finally gave God of War another shot and I loved it. The story and characters are great and combat ended up being a lot of fun once I really got into it. I beat it and am already deep into my Ragnarok playthrough which so far seems to be better than GoW 2018 in nearly every way.
Bungie is working on ‘a number of unannounced projects’ with Sony
Farnsworth said in a Twitter post that the studio has “completely changed” how it develop games and does business over the course of 25-plus Destiny content releases, “moving from strictly boxed products to live service games”.
He continued: “And with the support of Sony we are working on a number of unannounced projects too.”
In addition to its ongoing work on Destiny 2, Bungie said in February 2021 that it planned to bring at least one new IP to market before 2025.
And last June the studio was acquired by PlayStation maker Sony for $3.6 billion.
Prior to the deal’s completion, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said the acquisition of Halo creator Bungie was partly motivated by a desire for PlayStation to become more of a multiplatform business.
“We believe it will be a catalyst to enhance our live game services capabilities,” he said. “Our acquisition of Bungie also represents a major step forward in becoming more multiplatform.”
Sony has said it’s planning to have 12 live service titles in the market by its fiscal year ending in March 2026 – up from three during the current business year.
The traditionally console-focused company also expects half of its annual releases to be on PC and mobile by 2025.
Bungie is reportedly working on a new Destiny game for mobile in partnership with Chinese tech and gaming giant NetEase, which invested $100 million to become a minority shareholder in the Bellevue, Washington-based studio in 2018.
