This is how we do it in San Diego: You hold the gun right around your croths area (or above your head, personal preferences) to keep your chest target open. The is a sensor on the barrel of the gun, which needs to be covered. Put your left thumb over the sensor and wrap your fingers around the other side. You use your right thumb to fire the trigger. With your thumbs doing all the work you can easily flip the gun with your fingers to face either direction without moving any of the rest of your body. My team is playing in a tournament tomorrow night, if I remember I'll take a picture of how we hold it and post it here. Much easier than explaining it. does this make sense to anyone else? Im trying to picture what his describing... and its a very ridiculous image indeed. I tried to illustrate what i have in mind, but my paint skills are terrible.

I am sure there are places it is not considered unfair or cheating. We have found a way, at least those of us with long enough arms, to be able to completely cover every sensor from the front of our vest (front, both shoulders and the gun itself) and still be able to fire effectively. While doing this, we cannot be tagged except from behind, which can be fixed by standing against a corner or wall. The picture is pretty dark, but I think you can see good enough for my explanation. ![]() The gun is held upside down, my right thumb on the trigger, my left thumb on the sensor (you have to have two hands on the gun to fire). This grip allows for maximum flexibility in my opinion and to change the direction you are aiming you just cross your arms. Or do the little flip trick we learned, but without a video I think I'd fail to explain that too. Also it lets your keep your body hidden or protected while your arms can do al the work of positiongin and aiming the laser. It was really awkward learning to shoot this way at first, but after a couple months practice, I would never consider holding it any other way.

If it is allowed, then how much covering is too far before you get to completely covering? Therefore it is not allowed at all.

I manage Area 21 in Houston Texas, and I'm obvioulsy a huge fan OF Laser Tag, I'm looking to start a competitive group within our facility. A lot of the things people are failing to mention about laser tag (given the post is 5 years old) Theres now things such as Enviromental targets. Bases, Turrets, Ressurections, Power ups liek Rapid Fire, Invincibility, Nukes, Pay backs, - and differnt game modes like Shadow (stealth mode) Death Match (similar to Unreal tournament, gaining power ups through base respawns.) The difference between paintball and and laser tag, is variety and vifersity. Anything you come up with for Laser Tag can be done wihtin teh system, while paintball needs some kind of ref to call the shots and control the rules. Laser Tag has the rules int eh system. I.E. Capture the flag in laser tag is infact intergrated into hwo the game plays, versus using an outsourcing object to be determiend as whats a flag etc. Also, I'm disabled with a few problems related to the kidney and the spine. I cant play Paintball, but I can SURELY kick back door in some laser tag.So if you cant medically take the hit of paintball, laser tag is the way to go. If you dont feel liek being sore and getting bruises, laser tag. If you want ACTUAL game types, envriomental effects, NPC targets, and a game WORLD, play laser tag. Oh - and The phaser is infact a Target in today Laser Tag - you cant hide it. The skill comes down to hunting an opponent. Being as quiet as possible, knowing where your lights are flashing and when your about to become respawned to pop out and tag the next opponent. Using sound to determine where somone is going, and sneaking behind them to get the hit, burrowing yourself into a nearby barrier, leaving the tagged clueless on where they got hit from. The black light, the DMX Pandora music, the fog, and AIR CONDITIONING, make laser tag an experience that you can repeat over and over.

The rules say you can't cover any sensors. But you are.. Unfortunately it is pretty difficult to ref everyone playing a lasertag game at once, hence why people like you get away with it
