Nintendo had 6 Directs before the E3 Direct in 2017 for the west/anglosphere. 2 full on NDs, Switch Direct, Pokemon Direct, and Nindies. The only month that didn't have a direct between 2017's equivalent of today's direct and E3 2017 was March - but the Switch released then so there wasn't much point.
Just from the trailer it doesn't seem like Mario Tennis' story mode is RPG-like like the one on GBA. If it's just a series of minigames using Mario, it's... meh.
I'll probably get this one still, Mario Tennis is awesome.

3DS was backward-compatible, so you could just play the original. S-E probably didn't feel there was enough money to be made remaking a game that was only one generation old on a system that could still play the original.
This is unlike Atlus who have remade a whole slew of DS games on the 3DS (EO1/2, Devil Survivor 1/2, plus Strange Journey and Radiant Historia coming out this year).

I'm still not sure how will they fix the double screen battle of it. So yeah, not exactly unthinkable, but still 10 years and no 3ds port, and being such a niche game, the immense 3ds player base + rpg centric heavy on RPGs games was much more suitable release than the Switch
I felt like that top screen portion wasn't really engaging. It was just there to bounce the glowy thing to the bottom screen.

I commute close to 2.5 hours every day, and I have yet to have the Switch dying on me. Granted, I do not play for the full duration of the trip, but I feel that the Switch is made for this specific use case and is not meant as a portable gaming device that can last the duration of a long haul flight. It just isn't feasible with today's technology.
There are plenty of third party titles on the Switch at this very moment, including a ton of indy games of widely varying quality.
Also, Dark Souls is coming to the Nintendo Switch May 25th. If Zelda and Skyrim on the go weren't good enough, there's going to be Dark Souls on the go.
I really can't help but feel that the Nintendo Switch is the best gaming device I have purchased in almost a decade. I've gotten more gaming mileage out of that little device in the nine months since I bought it compared to my PS4 which I bought when Bloodborne came out.
It was an OK direct. I missed TWEWY the first time around despite everyone saying I needed to play it, so I'm excited about that. Donkey Kong looks really good. I can understand WiiU owners being frustrated that so many of Switch's big games are just WiiU games, but it's new for someone like me and for a lot of other people. Kirby I'm on the fence about. Celeste I'd rather get on the PC.

We’ve heard Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima say that the new worldwide sales target for Switch this fiscal year is 20 million units. That would surprise the previous target by about 1.4 times.
Speaking with Mainichi, Kimishima said: “In order to be playable in the long term, the second year is crucial. Our task is to add more users, including people who barely touch game consoles.” He also said Nintendo has to expand the game library, take in new players, and raise the Switch as “a game console with long lifespan.”
Kimishima was later asked by Mainichi if Switch’s sales numbers can surpass the highly popular Wii. Although there may be some differences based on the region, he believes overall worldwide momentum is rivaling the Wii era. The point that a home console game which is playable in the long-term can be played anywhere at the home or even brought outside has been received very well. Nintendo has reached most of the people who were early adopters because they really like Nintendo’s games.
When asked if this momentum can continue, Kimishima said Nintendo’s games are focused on the family demographic. In the future, different sorts of genres will be covered by third-parties, which will help expand the system’s user base. Other companies may also be able to release game consoles that are more interesting, so if Nintendo doesn’t think of new ways to play, the momentum could come to a halt right away.
Mainichi also pointed out how people have been saying that the ebb and flow / rise and fall in the games industry is rather extreme. In response, Kimishima noted how any good thing can eventually be forgotten. Also, there is a possibility in the future that the method to deliver surprises to customers may change. To equalize earnings, it is important to always maintain unique ideas.
just bought a switch, and i'm running xenoblade chronicles, the quality on my 4k monitor looks like...crap.
it doesn't even look like 1080p, despite me setting Full RGB, 1080p, etc.
does anyone have a fix, guide or workaround to this? or is this supposed to be normal? i'm kinda shocked it looks worst than the graphics on my old ps3.

It's acknowledged by Switch players to be one of the less graphically optimized "big" games released on the Switch. The dynamic resolution dips especially low in handheld mode (sometimes sub-480p iirc). I'm not personally bothered by it at all but I can understand the criticism. You just have to know what you're getting yourself into when buying Switch games. The focus will most likely be on gameplay and fun factor and way less on graphics. If we're talking about a port from another console, it will most likely get the 60 fps to 30 fps treatment (NBA 2K18, DBZ Xenoverse 2, Dark Souls remaster), at the very least. And even for first party titles, undocked 1080p 60fps will be achieved for a very rare amount of games (like Mario Kart or Splatoon), but don't expect it as a standard.
The only thing you can really expect is consistent 720p + 30 fps, which you're not even really getting on Xenoblade (hence why people say the performane work on it has been a bit disappointing)
tl;dr; Don't expect 1080p as a standard on Switch going forward.
It sounds like a big sacrifice if you intend to play it exclusively on a TV, but it's really not that big of a deal if you consider the Switch as a handheld. I feel like studios won't often bother with trying to push 1080p with good framerate, especially since Nintendo itself didn't adhere to this standard.
